Any other Fogheads out there that won free passes to this? I can't friggin' wait! Phil and Friends at FUCKING SLIM'S!
Isn't Slim's owned by Boz Scaggs??? HMMMM... 2nd set prediction: Dark Star->Lido Shuffle->Dark Star->Lowdown->Lovelite...
I saw the first night of the Ratdog run last month, and it was a GAS.....great to see a high-energy band, used to playing mid-to-huge venues, in such a small club. That Wed 5/8 show wasn't even sold out, so it wasn't packed, and a fine time was had by all. You guys gig it up on Monday.....the rest of us are jealous! :-) :-)
Damned right we're jealous!!
Makes me realize I need to become a registered FOGHEAD (don't listen to the radio much, with the CD-changer in the car - packed with Dead, Phil, etc., etc.).
You know, I'll have been at 4 straight days of shows (1 SKB and 3 P&F), but I would love to be at Slims for night #5!!
Have a great time, you lucky dogs, you...!!!
Peter how did you find out?
I`m still waiting.............
What time does the show start? Whats the chances of just showing up and getting in? 20%, 50%. It might be fun to find out.
Tom at least you could here it outside.Slims is so small and the sound travels way outside....
Carl,
I found out Friday afternoon. It was originally supposed to start at 8:00, but has been changed to 7:30, doors at 6:30.
Check your verizon.net email Carl, or shoot one to me at pnoe@evokesoft.com. I think I have some information that you may be interested in.
All you guys are lucky... I'd love to be in that Great Venue for the show. Ratdog was great there..
Craigslist.org has about 10 people looking to sell/trade,,, the going rate is about $100 @ 4:20pm..im going down without one
Well KFOG give it to the MF. salpers not the fans!
Sorry Lord Henry..............I will make it up to you......
Jam> Celebration> Soulshine, Real Thing> Leave Me Out Of This.... playing right now...
Had a great time tonight. Evrything was played well and there were some really nice jams. Celebration is really growing on me and I now love the Real Thing. Only problem (problem is probably too strong of a word) was that a lot of people there were there just because they won a free show. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but it made the vibe a little different. They played a nice version of Liberty (which was ommitted from the pzone setlist). Mason's children towards the end of the set was great. They also played Night of 1000 Stars (also not on pzone list) after Mason's. Right before they played it, Phil ripped up the setlist. I'm still a little foggy, but I can say that tonight was a very special experience. About half way through the show, my buddy looked at me and said "This is what San Francisco is all about." I had to agree.
Ripped up the setlist? As in, he pulled it off the stage and ripped it up and threw it down? Was he mad? Being silly? Blowing off the list? Looks like y'all got the whole album . . .
Peter was right on target,i believe the majority of people there were fogheads happy to see a known act play Slims,(a venue that holds 900)The "jams" listed on the set list were micro-jams....nothing like we're used to.."No more do i" was my favorite,,the show was just as it was billed. An album release party/concert.I saw very few people i knew there.Or even familiar faces for that matter. It definitly was a different vibe. After the gig some of the people i talked to (especially the 40+ crowd who had never seen the band)admitted they were expecting a type of "recycled dead sound", and they were pleasantly suprised at what they heard.Crowd wise it could have been much worse.I had a great time just because it was the closet ive ever been to the band(4ft away from Warren)And it was the first time i saw a maxi-show.Also i felt a sense of mutual relaxation on the bands part,i was thinking about it, and these guys are playing in front of 900 tonite, then in a couple of weeks they're going to be playing in front of 90,000 Another wierd thing was, i kept waiting to hear a beatles tune,or a cover of something..even a dead tune but it was just new album songs. My favorite new tune has got to be "No More Do I" Warren puts so much energy into that song.I hope in the future they do more "guerrilla" shows like that.KFOG or not.It also tests your connections to see if "that dude" for years thats been saying he has radio or club ties really doesThanx Forrest..
Maybe Phil didn't want his setlist passed on to the Phans like they did at the Greek, so he destroyed it...That doesn't sound like Phil - why would he care..just a possible solution.
The way I saw it (ripping up setlist) was that they played a few more songs than originally planned. Sorry for causing any confusion.
It was actually Warren that jokingly "Tore Up" the setlist at the request of the fans in front. The gal in front of me got a copy of Phils setlist. Setlist was played as written. Awesome to see Phil up close a personal. Robbie and Jimmy and Phil talking and joking with us down front was awesome. Were definitley spoiled here in S.F. Thanks Phil & Friends!
Well sounds like a fun gathering, but man am I glad I didn't go...
Some of those new songs make me cringe and think "wow these guys are really old, out of touch and it shows"
A few covers, old dead tunes, Phil tunes, etc would have rocked. Ah well guess they need a show to air free on the radio/Web that promotes this new album.
someone help ven get his head out of his ass
Ven I think Metallica has a site, that you should check out........................
