WOW..did Friends close out The Odyssey in style or what? Look at those setlists the last 2 nights!!! I agree, one heck of an Epic tour.

It will take a long time for CD's to stop flying through the air...

Thank You to Phil and Friends and crew!!!!!!
You massage my soul!

All the Gods came together for this one. Unbelievable everything, and aside from the music, some amazing people here watching out for all...TC, looking forward to your reviews, will probably release my own at some point, although need to relisten to Jones, still not sure if that experience can be reduced to mere words. Thank you everyone; Philzone.com, Band, Crew, and Zoners alike, and mostly LessThan, who proved he is so much more. What a great summer, and it's only have over. Fondly, Dewit.

Can anyone please post the Allman's Atlanta set? of course I couldn't make this show (went to Raleigh and Charlotte)and heard only that they did a smokin' version of my song in Atlanta. Those of you who saw my MTNJAM license tag and neon toy lite know how much I wanted to get a MtnJam, so I am looking to set up a trade. I have several recent shows to offer.

Randy

I NEED to contribute and say that this line-up is mind-boggling and I'm sure that Phil is well aware that he's put together some of the finest musicians on the planet. Their inter-action is smoother than Chinese silk. As someone mentioned, they appear to be rocketing along on some astral plane. I only saw four shows from this tour but night two from Red Rocks and Deer Creek are forever emblazoned deep into my memory. Some of my most memorable concert experiences. I'm just holding my breath waiting for them to announce Fall tour. This band I will tour. Sure I enjoy other bands and will listen to their live discs and go see 'em if they're within 400 miles but I'm gonna save my dosh and tour this band. Apart from anything else, they ain't gonna be around forever. These guys Molo, Barraco, Haynes, Herring and Lesh have just taken my little world and turned it inside down. I'm getting some discs this weekend from da Rox and the Creek.
I'm also going to see the Allmans at the Rocks on Sunday. You go Warren. What a friggin' player. I'm amped because I haven't seen the Brothers since my college days in New Orleans when they were our local band. They played in the quadrangle of our university on a regular basis with Duane and Berry. Yup, I'm older than dirt.
Soon, I'll be seeing the Mule in Telluride. You go Warren. What a friggin player. Did I already mention that?
So, at least I've got some music to keep the toes tappin' and the the bones shakin' until the PLQ start up Fall tour. I want to thank Phil for not only bringing back some immortal songs that I was afraid I might never hear again, but also for keeping the spirit alive and for promoting life enrichment. This talk about bad scenes, bad vibes and bad cops echoes the same kind of talk that was around when I first saw the Dead in 1968. There will always be individuals who are malcontents and they will try and ruin it for the rest of us. As far as bad cops, I saw a few posts suggesting that the cops are just doing their jobs etc, etc ,etc. Make no mistake, the war on drugs is an abomination. It is an incredible infringement on my pursuit of happiness guaranteed me by the constitution. Soapbox mode off.
Phil,"Say you'll come back whenever you can
Whenever your airplane happens to land
Maybe I'll be back here, too
It all depends on what's with you"

I was a part of the Altanta show and Wow- that was some serious healing. I was too caught up in my head to really get into the Phil set, but right around Birdsong I started to come around. When the Allman Brothers hit the stage I was ready to contribute to the flow of love. From then on it was pure bliss. Words really can't describe. It was most definitely a spiritual experience & it was very healing to me.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who contributed to the postive flow of energy. It felt like everyone single person was synced up by the end of the show. It *all* came together. It was heaven... if only we could make it last :)

I wish I had the Allman setlist to share, but I don't write 'em down & at the memory fades quickly for me.

Thank again,
Sean

Atlanta was amazing. PLQ (as Dyerwolf has so aptly named them) are a well oiled machine. My friend and I just looked at each other and smiled HUGE smiles as they hit EVERY friggin' note in the orchestral piece! My best friend said to me just before the show that it would do his heart good to get a Viola tonight....and I added, yeh, but we are due for Help>Slip>whatever. You can imagine the explosion from both of us as Viola #3 rolled around.

The ABB was simply surreal! The playing was magical and the visuals were pure eyecandy!

We must have more!

I keep meaning to post this and forgetting. Did
anyone notice that at some point they
switched from headset monitors to the
traditional floor monitors. Obviously that took
away Phil's big red button.

Anyone know what was behind that?

Phil?

John?

Jimmy?

Rob?

Warren?

Any of you are welcome to email me to
explain, hehehehe ~~{ : < )

Thanks for a great time. The highlight for me
was Terrapin at Columbia, MD. It was not a
song, but an experience. And it was more than
the usual PLQ/GD/TOO experience... much
more. (to me at least)

Thank you brothers. Please keep it going.

Thanks Atlanta for a great big party.
Phil's set was a grate solid example of the power of Phil & Friends. The portal opened during Lovelight when they were joined on stage by Susan T. She helped raise the flame to torch level. Phil needs to find a spot for her in his band. She has presence and a killer voice. I thought at one point she was going to pull a Pigpen out of the bag with a "wait a minute wait a minute". The real jewel was the Allman's set. This was just unreal, it was sick. I mean the playing was just overwhelming I thought at one point I was going to burst from joy. Their were some special guest that jammed along, Jimmy Herring, Dave Schools & Chuck Level. We all need a copy of these 2 sets.
So if anyones has'em lets get it out.
Peace to all
Jerry

The Allmans blew.................me away that is. I am very anti-firing of Dickey, and still don't condone it (but am not out to argue it, just so y'all know where this post is coming from), but they really sounded good with Chuck Leavell. He brought the boogie. Esp on Jessica.

Hey, really nice meeting the folks from the zone. For those of y'all who didn't introduce yourselves, there really are some good folks on this board (Redneck, you are a LOSER, man).

Post-tour depression.

I hope that the Fla in March thing comes to pass. Next up, Mule in early Sept.

Keep on growing, people.....

Correction to ABB Setlist. Otiel's "Georgia on my mind" was either before the Mountain Jam or before "One Way Out"
Sorry I was running hot at that point and couldn't keep it all straight...

Excellent tune for a bass solo though...

Tour's over and you're bored. Why not read Redneck's review ? Here it is....

Drove from hotel to Atlanta and Mom's pad near Stone Mountain. Damn good to see Mom and get that home cookin,. With me once again are Allen Keeler*(* = name changed to protect the innocent) and his quiet friend J. Roller(*). The rented ^.><$@# (make deleted to confuse law enforcement) drove very nicely. All was well as we left off uneeded baggage and headed to the venue with plenty of time, or so I thought. Got on I-285 for the ride to I-75 and then North to venue. Bad plan. After 2 hours in creeping traffic we are re-routed back to I-285 heading in the opposite direction. Still have time for some lot scene so I head in different way to venue and run into the world's longest unmoving line to the lot. After waiting in two lines for a really long time we find out that the lot is full. Now, I begin fuming about the assholes who show up without a ticket. If I had somehow known the lots were closed, I never would have waited in those lines. Can't help thinking that this was poorly planned by the venue operator. When I finally parked across the street from the venue and walked into the lot I was surprised by the lack of facilities. Not enough port-o-lets, or garbage cans. Garbage was already becoming a problem. Actually heard a lady, late 30-ish, asking a head what the finger was up for. That made me laugh. Peachhead, I figured. Speeding to Will Call to get tix we hear the first notes of Help On The Way. At least getting the tix was the ONE thing that was easy today. Scored the tix and broke a sweat during the sprint to the music and we were instantly immersed into...

Redneck's review part two...

Help On the Way. Man oh man. This opened my first show. Heard five whilst spending my youth wondering why this band would follow me around. ;) After help there was a definite Slipknot and it was at this point that I started to decompress from the arduous journey by car. Tension release, all systems go, and we wisk off to Viola Lee. Boy, I'm in heaven again. I never heard Viola live before and Allen is dancing in abandon right with me and J. I decide to light up and share with the folks in front and back of me, who seem grateful, although this observation turned out to be false, because, at this point, towards the end of the Viola segment, some *&.,%$#@*, and further, *^&%$& (swear words deleted because of respect for the reader) started talking. Conversation about people they met, etc. NOT FACING THE BAND !!! I'm missing Mason's because some people want to talk. A few disgusted glances takes care of the problem and I enjoy the harmonies within this band. They sing grrrrrreat !! I slowly ascend the slopes of Mount Bliss, with Viola and I happen to run into Sugaree. I'm shaking it, for sure. So is Allen and J. We're all smiles as the time seems right for a kif joint and away we go. Well I was not ready for Lovelight. Susan came out to sing it and I was blown away by how well this group of people meshed. I would bet that, if released by a major label, it would be a hit. let's hope that don't happen. I was gettin' down, all the way down, and Phil decided to change up on me to a splendid Bird Song. More freakin' fabulous harmonies from Rob, Warren and Phil to make me start to mist up. "Either I'm too sensitive, or else I'm gettin' soft" Thanks for the words Bob. It's true, this Bird Song was fresh, plaintive and well, done better by Phil than Bob. (Sorry Bob, you know I'm down) Here again, I was caught off guard by the changes and we went to a China Cat that had me literally floating above the clouds. This jam is special, folks. It's right on that spot in your spinal column. The talkers melted away and it was just me and the band doing what I love - Jammin' with a capital 'J'. All sound fell away, save the band. That 's' word flitted teasingly about my ears and brain and as we wound our way, non-stop, into Slipknot I was in full lotus position, floating above the crowd in Satori-bliss. Man, I forgot what it was like. I see a new meaning and then meaning becomes meaningless as it's all shining white mist of perfect nothingness and sounds, oh my the sounds, man oh man, I'm talking communication on another level, I was ALIVE !!! as Slipknot became Franklin's I was placed lovingly back on the lawn by the bus that Phil drove. At this point a guy who was obviously on X came up and stood right in front of me and looked around confused. he then started explainingto me how he lost his friends and he was looking and that bad trip look was in his eyes (maybe he was trippin' , too.) and I looked at him and gave him my biggest, bestest loving smile and said "Just listen to the band and it'll be alright." Whereupon he looked over at them for a good 3 minutes and slowly turned around and looked back at me and smiled as he walked off. Good luck, bro. The Soulshine encore was fantastic. I'd heard the Allman version, but this had me filled with smiles. Warren needs to keep this a P&F song, it's just unbeatable. And damn sure better than rain ;) The next gem was what made me realise that it's not over. All the Bobby cheese and infighting and crap that has made me scared for the music since the fat man died. Phil, at this moment, made it known that he will not go "gentle into that good night", but he will "rage, rage against the burning of the light", how I believe it goes and I'm all for it. Phil ain't no BS man, he's the master of ceremonies, MC that is. We Bid You Goodnight, indeed. It didn't matter that most of the crowd didn't know the song, they were interested in the reaction that us heads had. Whether they knew the song or not, everyone in the venue knew it was a special moment. I loved it and continue to do so every time I see the setlist. Thanks Phil ! These were good times, damn good times.

The tour is over. Eveerything was laid on the line in Atlanta. I was wondering if anybody else heard the distanct black peter tease before the second viola lee. They did not play one the whole tour and to tease it like that was almost creul. I love Phil's black peter's. Anyway I saw 26 out of 29 shows all the way from LA to Atlanta and what a journey it was. For me Jones Beach, Red Rocks, and Eugene where the four gems of tour. Hartford, Atlanta and the Greeks are not far behind. That was one of the best end of tour shows I have ever heard, although I have only been seeing end of tours since 93. The bust out of tour had to be the King Solomans. I cannot wait to hear that one in the theatre's. All in all this was the best summer I ever had. The music, venues and scene were all pretty chill except for a few instances, especially the brutal police force in Camden. November is just around the corner, the band seems to be staying toghether for another tour, lets all hope they stay toghther for a lot longer than that. Another New Years at the Kaiser?
P.S. that is a nice review redneck. I agree with choosing Bid you goodnite to end the tour.
