no, but the venue and ticketbastard are still more than happy to sell you ticket?

I think the show was cancelled because something really BIG is going happen the following night in St. Louis, MO (08.01.02). I have a feeling that Bobby, Billy & Mickey are going to make a surprise appearance at The Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis. I think the "Boys" are going to have a little jam session before Alpine Valley!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for this to happen!!!

well, that's cool, and I'll be there too, but it throws a major kink into my plans... Austin, ?, St. Louis, Alpine. I was really looking forward to the Dallas show, but I guess they know better than little ol' me..hehe

Phil, how could you?

Your first Texas appearance and a cancel? Don't you know we love you in Dallas?

Worse, I don't live in Dallas, but bought a 300$ plane ticket to come for this show. Really.

Well, I dunno why my first message didn't show up - I just happened on this discussion here while trying to look busy at work and found out about the cancellation.

WTF? Was I supposed to find out when I showed up at the venue?

Someone mentioned they thought maybe something "big" would be happening the nite after in St. Louis.....

I think the reason might be ticket sales - Don't blame me, I bought mine way ahead of time.

Dallas is how much larger than Austin? I don't know, but including the whole D/FW "metroplex", it's friggin' huge in comparison, yet ticket sales always suck here for some reason.

In '96, Gov't Mule played Ft. Worth - due to poor ticket sales, they just made it a free show (I bought my ticket ahead of time for that one too) - at least they still played a kick ass show for about 50 people.

String Cheese has been playing 3 nites when they go to Austin for the past few years, but only 1 show in Dallas. Widespread Panic just got done doing the same thing - Sold out at the Backyard (at least for 1 nite), yet the venue in Dullass wasn't even half-full...

I was looking forward to seeing Next Stage - it's a brand new venue, which of course they're hyping as the "most state of the art" blah, blah, blah and all that - It's gotta be better than Reunion or Starplex - that's for sure.

I'll just have to have twice as much fun at the Backyard now. Hope to see y'all there.

All I can say is that we are not a bunch of redneck honky tonkers down here. I can't afford to hit every show out of town. I was so glad that Phil was coming. I went to New Orleans for Jazzfest and bought my tickets early for the Nexstage show. (I had planned turning a bunch of my friends on to our scene).By the way, this venue is awesome, the walls actually collapse depending on the size of the venue. Sorry, that 6000 tickets were not sold, but 3000 in that building would have been just fine. If I knew it was being cancelled, posssibly I would be in Wisconsin right know!!!!Oh well, I may catch the internet show tonight or I may CANCEL!!!!
Probably not, We still love ya in Dallas

I'd planned a visit Dallas around the Next Stage show. In fact, Ratdog and the Trichromes played in my hometown on 7/31 (Binghamton, NY) but I chose to see Phil in Dallas. We didn't find out the show was cancelled until we pulled into the venue at 4 PM. (I probably should have known to check after the quick venue change of Wilkes-Barre to Scranton on 7/15). We were told that there was a "scheduling problem" that caused the Dallas show to be canned. I asked how many tix had been sold. The answer: ~1000
Business is business, I guess.

Bumming in Bedford
