ALthough I'm originally a colorado native (which more than most of the residents there can claim), I am woefully ignorant of where people stay during REdrocks. Is there camping at the venue? close by? Does anybody have any recommendations?
Thanks.....

My friend needs a ride Thurs 8/29 from Denver Int'l Airport to Aspen - he arrives 5:40 pm - the rest of us are getting there the day before. He is reliable and will pitch in for gas, etc. He does not have regular internet access, so email me to arrange. My apologies for posting this here but no one seems to read the ride/tix board anyway. This message will erase in . . .

Hey, good people--traveling mercies to one and all who are coming out to RR for what promises to be an awesome weekend. I am all a-twitter--never got to see the Dead in such a great venue as this one...P&F is MY BAND!!
Started in April with the boys at the Fillmore in Denver and they did it to me soo good there, I haven't felt that good since way back when... Greek shows to start the summer were such a treat, first night especially....and Red Rocks to end a long, weird summer--- BRING IT ON, FOLKS!!
God Bless every one of you. Hey, if any sober folks are going to Red Rocks, let me know--I support you and love you all, sober or no. My email: jumpturn@hotmail.com

The Game and the Rev. checking in from the Crown Room in ATL. 7:00 AM, 3rd drink in hand, 55 minutes until flight time. Hertz is gonna love us when we come pick up the car (after another stop in the Denver Crown Room).

I'm sure last night rocked, but nothing from the set list really made me mad to have missed the show (again, sure it smoked, would love to hear R&R Blues, UJB, Sugaree, Celebrate).

That's ok at least didn't miss Viola (or Patchwork). Bring on the heat - herer we come.

Last night looked a little weak to me. I'm not one to say that after looking at a setlist but I have to this time. No songs I would die to hear. So that means there is plenty of heat for Red Rocks tonight. I just think Aspen is to stuffy of a crowd to really let loose with.

A few years back I was at a an autograph signing and I asked Phil how it felt to be back playing at Red Rocks. He didn't even say anything, he just sat there and smiled like a child for a long time. That massive smile on his face was a good enough answer for me. Look for that smile tonight.

Hey tstt;
I agree Sat. no problem, Sun. security wouldn't let me in w/my leatherman. I tape, so it's a multi-purpose tool that I, or someone else needs. I was able to stash it outside the gate and it was still there after the show. In my opinion these little black-gloved pricks think the Patriot Act applies to them so they can search and hassle all of us. Like someone is going to hijack an amphitheatre, and take it where?

I totally agree. I thought some of the yellow-shirted, meaty-headed doods were pushy.

I tried to walk across the seating area right in front of the stage and first row since it was not roped off (on Rob's side). I took about three steps when this big, muscle-bound, crew-cut guy lunges and pushes his arm up and in to me, forcing me to back-up a few steps and stumble over somone's wheelchair that was all folded up and sticking out from under the seats. When I told him he should be more careful since I almost tripped due to him pushing me, he yelled "I didn't PUSH you. Get OUT of here!"

My main problem with this kind of "enforcement," is that meat-head obviously was on some sort of strange, 8 dollar an hour power trip. He could have just as easily hopped over to me and said, "Sir, walking through this area is not allowed. Please go around. Thanks."

I went to speak to someone who looked more like a manager (had headphones and a nice blue windbreaker on) so I could maybe get this guy reported and disciplined.

The manager guy just says, "He pushed you? I can't do anything unless you want to press charges. Do you want to press charges against him?" I say no because he didn't injure me or anything. I then asked the manager to at least reprimand him so that he doesn't do this to other people and eventually wind up hurting someone.

The next night the same guy was in the same place. I'm sure he never heard anything about the incident from the manager, either. What if he pushed me and I had a sprained ankle or some other medical condition and got seriously injured? Seems like I understood the financial ramifications of a lawsuit better than meat-head or wind-breakered headphone man, which is pathetic.

The aisle clearers were annoying, too, but at least they have a legitimate beef. It is against fire and safety codes to have the main aisles blocked. I saw three med-team guys carrying down an unconscious man on the first night, and they definitely seemed happy that the aisles were clear. Overall, the security was fine. They kept the aisles clear and let the fans do what they wanted.

As the old saying goes, a few bad apples can spoil a good time for everybody.

Well, It has taken awhile to digest the info and emotion returning to the scene has created so I'll just flow freely. Too much trash left behind (Darien Lakes), amazing riffs by warren (PCN center), Do I look that much older (Bonnaroo), violence? (Pittsburg), bliss at Merriweather Post (Finally got to take my daughters and their stroller into the show). It's been a long time and I recognized a lot of faces but the scene has degenerated. I hope there will be a trully organized effort to contain our own enthusiasm and not impact the locals while we tour this fall. That has always been the greatest threat to the scene. Irresponsible self management while visiting the host communities. Email me at GratefulNet@hotmail.com if you wish to join a real effort to positivly manage our image. Peace!

I was at both Red Rock shows, and they were both very strong performances by the Quintet. I enjoyed Ratdogs set but can't understand why Bobby has some guy scratching records. It adds nothing to the music, detracts in my opinion. Covered my ears and turned around when the guy was given a "Solo", did not want that memory to be allowed to mix with the musical adventure that Phil and the boys would soon be taking me and 9500 of my closest friends.

Security at the gate was ridiculous Sunday. Checked my cooler Sat, but literally frisked everyone. The guy basically cupped my boys. I was a little pissed but soon got over it when we took our seats to enjoy willie and Phil.

I am looking for these shows and have much to trade if you have a copy. Thanks and Thanks to Phil and the boys for taking this music in such a creative and powerful direction

And, I shouldn't be drinking coffee as I read your post. Gawd it burns those nostril hairs. Right, have just located klennex and can see keyboard.

We just got
back from some absofuckinlutely outstanding P&F shows and then the T'ride
(post) film fest. saw some good flicks like Respiro and Almodovar's Talk to
Her.
The Phil rox shows rocked the house down. I'm still trying to recover a few
satellites. Afraid some of 'em are still orbiting. There are some mighty, mighty strong and wonderful substances floating around out here in cowboy country. Aspen got the bones shakin but, true to form, Phil pulled out all the stops in Morrison. Anybody confirm that they were making a dvd of the shows? Certainly were a load of cameras on stage. Also present on stage were some very, very fine musicians kicking out the jams. On the second night I had a young Spanish guy at his first P&F show in front of me. He'd never heard anything remotely similar and was digging it. He was with a group of exchange students that included a young Japanese classical pianist. She, according to one of the dads who was loosely, chaperoning, is some sort of piano prodigy and pratices many hours every day. I was interested in getting her take on da boyz and she GOT IT immediately. Shook her lovely bones throughout the whole show. So nice when everyone around you is hearing the same cosmic chorus. AND, I do mean everyone. I looked behind me a few times and the rox were ablaze with people GETTING IT. I'm sorry that I didn't get to meet more zoners but it was dynamite hanging with the chicago contingent for all three shows.
I gotta agree with Al (take a melody), these were some of the finest concerts that I've ever been to.

hey do you guys have special passes to be in my thread????

hahahahahaha.....(cartman voice):ill kick you in da nutz!!!

glad you guys had a great time..i did too. i think the natural scenery off aspen preceded the music first set. second set blew up in that dry cold dark aspen night.

sat. at rox--oh my lord. i would have traded my ticket gladly to a non-believer had i known before the show that would be "THE SHOW" i alredy know they can perform at that level. the music and energy totally blew the red rocks and the denver scenery out of the world. the only show i have ever seen of this caliber is beacon like 10-14-00. i feel EVERY show is way above the bar but sat redrox and beacon 10-14-00 stand out as way TOOOOOOO GGGOOOOOOOOODDDDDD!!!!!! if they played like that every nite wed already be at stadiums to see this band. they know how to give it but they know how to make us want it as well.

hey----me and frankl were talkin bout this yesterday----any body notice they were gonna close set 1 with forest of fennario and then when they left the crowd speechless and breathless they came up with the mason's to go backstage during some applause??? that was my thought.

just gotta say....these red rocks shows had the most amazing, welcoming, comforting, energetic, mellow vibe of any shows i've ever been to. truly surpassed anything i've experienced at any show. the location really seemed to draw from a much wider spectrum of the country than i typically find at shows here on the left coast. truly awesome.
