How about a few words of Love for Candace!! Thanks so much Candace for all your work!!
I looked forward to each venue anxiously awaiting the beautiful show she put on. Two in particular . . . SPAC and PNC. Magical.
Absolutely...Here Here! [Raises his mug in appreciation] She had a blast at the SPAC. I could tell!
Candace: You light up my life...you are definitely also playing in the band (Candace)
Schnee: so true about SPAC she painted that canvas with amazing touch all night...bravo!!!
Nice work at the Greek this year Candace! Rolling tye-dyed Doric columns! WOW!
Hey now Candace,
It was hard to compete with the orange moon, the rolling thunder and the lightnin' bolts at Red Rock this Summer but you did a splendid job. Thanks for many years of spectacular lights.
Candice you simply took my breath away at PNC.
Thanks for the beauty........
candace - thank you for bringing to life many visions and dreams I have had with the music. to see images in front of me that remind me of the "world within" is astonishing - so much so, that I cannot even spell the right, powerful words to describe what you are able to bring forth! lov'n it!!!! are you available for small parties and gigs? :>)
Candace - I agree with everyone. However,
there is a question that has been on my mind
fince my first phil show 11/99. Where are the
graphics???
The biggest regret in my life is that I found the
Dead TOO late and never got to see Jerry. My
first non-Dead Dead Shows were Furthur '98,
the flashing graphics, etc were awesome and
extremely 'helpful.' I can't be the only one who
misses this. I WANT TO SEE SOME DAMN
BEARS!!!!!!!!!!! ~~{ : > )
Now that I have that out, again, the lights have
been awesome. The lights and music
combined at the end of Terrapin in Columbia,
MD were so intense that I thought that I was
going to be blown right out of the pavilion!
Does anybody else out there have any
thoughts for me on this?
I don't even notice the lights - I'm strictly there for the music.
Most of the time my eyes are closed.
Personally, I find using ANY of my other senses cuts down on my ability to concentrate on the one sense I need at a concert, my hearing. My wife touched me in Hartford during Cassidy to warn me not to shake my head around so much (recent neck surgery), I told her NEVER touch me during the music....
But that bit with the bright lights shining into the audience at Jones Beach during Scarlet/Fire was literally blinding.
Let's not have any more of that, please.
Bucky-I am just like you in that I keep my eyes closed during the majority of the show. BUT, I look at it a little differently. Every time I open my eyes I cherish the vison I get. Like a postcard for the mind. Then later at home I can shut my eyes and be at the show again.....
This is the reason that I don't like additional video. The video's and images like dancing bears distract me. I find myself watching them instead of fully concentrating on the tunes.
For this reason it's a pleasure to thank Candice! I don't know anyone else who handles the lighting so well with so little.
You are the Hummingbird of Lighting, pure Eye-Candy!
Here here, Encore encore!
We love your work Ms Brightman! All of 'em
masterpieces! .. dug your sister's book, too, the
'socioscript' on that pioneering musical
ensemble's roadhouse odyssey. Thank you, thank
you, thank you both. Attagirl, attagirl.
Lighting, ah, I always noticed, but didn't really take notice until summer tour. The aquarium thing against the rocks at RR, and they went uphill from there, if possible. The lights at Camden were very cool, and with TC, yet again, the lights at PNC were awesome- I gotta agree, if you want video go see the repeat at the Allmans show, same video, added pics every tour. Aren't we all here to hear, not think, so the what Candance does is create a colored palette to enhance...at least for me. Thanks much, yet again.
*the goddess of light* is what Phil called her somewhere on tour...
what else can I say?
except, of course, most humble gratitude for all these years of swirl
uh-huh uh-huh, that's how lighting should be ....enhancing not distracting...change without you even noticing
Thank you ma'am!!!
I realize I'm a bit on the extreme side.
Once, I went to a planetarium in Hartford to see one of those laser shows to 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. Half way through, I just closed my eyes so I could concentrate on the music more....
I'm thinking, I could have done this at home on my couch.
No Buck
you need to get out, OFTEN
more people should be exposed to the Buck and all his splendor
Any signs of Jones B?

Brick, hopefully* marks the Jones Beach spot.
There's been some confusion, but I hope to have concrete facts by Tuesday, & posted by Weds.
Well... I guess I am in the minority. At least it
sparked some interesting conversation.
The funny thing is that I spend a lot of time
with my eyes closed too. Especially during
songs that I don't know. I have also found that
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ makes my mind go nuts with
at
times. It really sucks when I go through a
couple of songs before I realize that I wasn't
really there. Nothing brings me back and
tunes me in like sitting back and closing my
eyes.
Anyhow, I would still like to see some video. I
really haven't seen much and it is something
that I would like to experience.
Buck & Bango~you are indeed counting on the IrisOne now for your JB show...
good luck

There's a site that has a bunch of pictures of the GD stage / light show. I'd forgotten how incredible Candace made the stage look until I saw some of these pictures.

>I have enough problem reading half a posting & then ranting & raving about it......
Buckman, doesn't appear to be a large problem 4 U!
>And Jerry wearing shorts on stage!!!
That was great and I've got the T-shirt to proove it. If I can ever srounge up a Digi-Pic thingie I'll put it on my profile pic. From Vegas 94, I think, when it was like 120 in the SBSB.
Traffic opened and it was so hot; there was someone in a full buffalo cape dancing behinds the taper's section, insane!
I met Candace at a Phil show in between sets at a Phil show in Merriweather in 2000. It was a real honor to meet her and she was really very very cool!
can't wait to see what she has in store for us this phall...
wheeeeee!!!
