Woooooooooo......
only 5:00am on the left coast..
Cant wait to hear these reviews!
sounds interesting...
FWIW, Here's what I jotted down:
Gov't Mule 9:20-1:05 am
Set 1: Bad Little Doggie, Rocking Horse, Time to Confess, Banks of the Deep End, When Doves Cry (1 verse) > Beautifully Broken > Doves Cry (1 verse) > Beautifully Broken, (with Phil Lesh & Friends: ) Night of 1000 Stars, Real Thing, No More Do I, Liberty, Lovelight
Set 2: Sailin' Shoes > Spanish Moon > Cissy Strut > Spanish Moon, Brickyard Blues, Larger than Life, If 6 was 9, Devil Likes It Slow, No Need to Suffer, Empty Pages, Blind Man in the Dark, Mule > Who Do You Love? > Mule
Encore 1: drums > Emminence Front
Encore 2: Comfortably Numb intro > Soulshine
Guitar: Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring
Keys: Danny Louis, Rob Barraco
Drums: Matt Abts, John Molo, +? (another guy joined Matt for one tune)
Bass: George Porter Jr., Greg Rzab, Phil Lesh
Truthfully when Phil came out, I was hoping for a Lay of the Sunflower, but I have no complaints.
A little more info: Haynes, Abts, George Porter and Danny Louis started the show, Barraco took the keys starting in Deep End, Herring came out starting in Beautifully Broken, and Phil came out towards the end of Beautifully Broken, causing Porter to leave the stage only to quickly return when he realized he needed to come back to sing the 2nd verse of Doves Cry with Warren. Don't remember when Molo joined Abts (played together for a few songs), but Abts ducked out right before 1000 Stars. 1000 Stars > Liberty was all Phil and Friends (Haynes, Molo, Herring, Lesh, Barraco), but Abts and Danny Louis joined them for Lovelight (2 keyboard players + 2 drummers was fun!). Abts, Rzab, and Louis started the second set (here's where my scribbled notes peter out), but Herring came back for a couple of big blocks of songs, and Porter spelled Rzab for a few songs; Lesh did not come back out after the first set - not sure about Barraco (think he may have joined Louis for a couple?). The "drums" I mentioned was all Abts.
Oh, and the Comfortably Numb intro was right up to (but not including) the line "I have become comfortably numb," which was replaced by the guitar intro to Soulshine, right into Soulshine.
An *amazing* show, y'all!
Mule did the Doves cry > Beautifully Broken> Doves cry in Philly. I thought it was really awesome. I love the way they switch between the songs. Right when he gets to the line when he sings "This is what it sounds like when doves cry.." Warren hits that signature riff of Beautifully Broken. I guess doves crying sounds like Beautifully Broken..lol
Can't wait for the SHN's of last night!!
"I have become comfortably numb," which was replaced by the guitar intro to Soulshine, right into Soulshine. "
- i think i heard them do that at the beacon once.
Sailin' Shoes>
Spanish Moon>
Cissy Strut>
Spanish Moon
Dooool...im sorry. big feat fan.
WOW. sounds like a sick one.
Lucky dogs. game5>MULE>PLQ>FEAT(sort of)>MULE.
Thanks for the write up Gwen.
PLQ....thank God!!!
Foreshadowing for a Gov't Mule/PLQ tour this spring??? Let's all pray!!!
I think I saw Phil at the game last night (he was there and I was watching on the couch). Right at the end of the game the camera had a shot under the first deck and I swear it was right at Phil. It was a real quick shot but I'm sure it was him.
Kids are GREAT but when you can't line up a babysitter and have to miss great shows like last night it makes you sad. OH WELL!! The kids are still better than cable though!!!
it depends what cable channel you are watching...Can someone say...SKIN-A-MAX
or...Show(Girls)Time.

greg, you've been "talking to steve" too much; it was a couple of weeks ago that we saw comfort numb>soulshine!
"Right at the end of the game the camera had a shot under the first deck and I swear it was right at Phil."
-i was waiting all day for someone to say that. I saw that same thing. What luck too, tuned in right at the end, and caught that same shot. Im almost DEAD positive it was phil (wearing a red sweatshirt i think). He had 6 or 8 seats to his disposal as well, and was laughing it up like he was have the time of his life.
lets get this straight once again folks.
Grateful Dead, Baseball and summertime!
sweeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been waiting for this show to happen.
damn, knew i should have made the cali run!
they did the bb>wdc>bb at the philmore in denver as well.
i am waiting for "when this small sunflower
Grows above the garden wall" in spring...
i WILL make the SF run in the spring.
listening to Mule 10/9/02 at work today. karl denson just came out...
Nothin' beats Ball and The Boyz...
As American as it gets BABY!!!
My Idea of Heaven has always been a daytime double-header at Wrigley with JGB at the first intermission and The Dead after the second game...
Was that TRAFFIC'S "Empty Pages"??
Yup!!!!!!!
Purty damn good, huh?
i got an email yesterday saying phil, bobby and baracco were supposed to sing during the middle of the 7th inning last night.
My first trip to fillmore, the trasnplanted east coaster I am...walk upstairs, got a beer, I think rockin horse was playing, started staring at all the posters, turned around, Phil! right in my face, gave him a hello phil, got a nod and a smile as he walked backstage...wandered down right next to Warren for the P&F jam, No More Do I was fabulous, phil was laying it down, calling the shots..very very nice
The rest of the show was great, not as heavy as prior Mule events...Eminence Front is one of may favorite Who tunes...Saw Jimmy as he was cruising out, hes lookin forward to sunday.
Ok, All i can say, is that from my vantage point (dead center front row) it was just to Damn GOOD! One of the best shows of the year!! My brain is still rattled, but I'll write a full review tomarrow. Now I'm off for String cheese! Good day to all!
MULE!!!
Z. Modeliste
hmmm, neat
If you check the setlists or have been on the Mule tour, you will see that he's been doing When Doves Cry>>Beautifully Broken>>WDC>>BB almost every night. They soundchecked with it at Philly and the played it later that night. Awsome to say the least. When Warren really likes something he seems to play it alot. Remember summer tour? He played The Real Thing almost every other night. Which is cool by me because I love those tunes. The transition between Doves and Broken is flawless and WAY COOL! Let's pray for PLQ and MULE for spring!!!
Zigaboo made that Feat tribute come alive....
...heard Bob, Mickey, & Billy were all invited, but didn't show...
Wow, sounds Fab!! wish i was there, but cheers you all who were able to be there.. Lookin forward to ALbany, Hartford, MSG soon!!! Can hardly wait! Sorry about the ignorant question; is the Doves Cry song the same as the Prince tune?
ignorance is bliss...the answer: yes
Blissters on my fingers...and most likely a few on the brain after Mule Thusday and 3 nights in Tahoe...
Tonite..SCI in La Jolla....
You got that right Lou, especially if they`re playing the Cardinals. Then it`s on down the Ole` Missisloppy to StL for a game @ Busch and onto the Fabulous Fox to pitch a Wang Dang Doodle all night long!
