Hi after seeing the first show at NJPAC I was disappointed to say the least. Just when they got going they fizzeled out. I was concerened about the next night. WELL, what a difference a day makes! The show on 11/23 was so OUTSTANDING I just couldn't believe the difference. I guess I will chalk it up to the selection of songs or maybe they were just into it more. Whatever the reason I hope there is someplace to get a copy of 11/23 a.s.a.p. Thank you guys for a GREAT SHOW. WE LOVE YOU PHIL & FRIENDS...Peace..addie

WTF are you talking about? Did you somehow miss the 2nd set of 11/22?

If you were talkin' set I only, I'd agree to a certain extent. Everything that followed Scarlet Bs, while very well played, was in the down- to mid-tempo range. Great stuff, but not the best material to string together.

the only thing that fizzled in the 2nd set were brain cells and synapses.

The second set of 11/22 was one of the musical highlights of my life.

It is really amazing the range of perceptions. Both nights were great and even if the tempo range in the 1st set Tuesday was limited to the slower end of the spectrum, how can you not like a set that "winds down" with Tennessee, Fennario, Sugaree, and Cosmic Charlie? The second sets both nights were huge!

listening back to set 1 confirms it was great as well

Sugaree COOKED - Peggy-O was perfect, Long Black Veil was well done - probably helped to know it was a great song made famous by messrs J Cash and R Danko - Althea worked quite well too

this really was a very Grateful Dead first set - not to mention the AUTHENTIC Caution and outstanding Cryptical - the Other One

the beginning of Gimme Shelter was time to go nuts and what about Big Railroad? AUTHENTIC

sorry, but this was great music

Anyone who has read my reviews of 11/22 and 11/23 already knows I mostly loved what was happening at those two shows, but I wonder what thoughts are percolating around out there about NYE and John Mayer sitting in with P&F at the stroke of 12. I wonder how many still think of Mayer as some lightweight pop idol and how many know him for his current JM3 work. I wish I could be there for all the NYE run, but especially the 12/31 show, just because of the special twist (at least my son is making this trip). First, Mayer is supposed to play the Jimi Hendrix Band Of Gypsies show from 12/31/69 (I do not know if he specified the early or late show would be played song for song) to open and then the jam with P&F later. For those of you not in the know, you are going to get your ears pinned back. Mayer is the real deal; the fact that Phil would even consider Mayer for the bill, much less a special sit-in such as this one, and this past April's Jammy's jam with Phil and Buddy Guy should be enough to convince the skeptics, but seeing (and hearing) is believing. Mayer will make Jimi proud.

Mayer wasn't listening to Phil at the Jammy's...mostly to himself and what he knows to play...which is ripping blues guitar. Phil tried to play some simple changes to make things interesting and Mayer ignored them. When he finished blowing his load, Mayer walked off the stage and left Phil hanging with the drummer...Phil shrugged and bid the day goodbye...

i've had time to absorb the 11/22 show, the new
lineup can't ever compare to the Q, but this new
lineup is raw, the CAUTION! was so early sounding it was sooooooooo cool, like early dead 69-71, now with a less psychadelic and jam oriented dead/allman/trickster feel, but more band/dylan/j.cash feel, i wanted a change in the lineup, and the musicians did too, ie: mule is hotter than ever, jimmy can fly on his own now, just wanted to say it's all cool(CR does need to get his timing down however)

sless is psychedelic, but campbell is more r&r, i like the change, sless should solo more however, almost seems he's waiting for phil to give the go sign.
