A different night, a slightly different vibe, but another great show from (viewer's left to right) Melvin, John, Bobby and Barry (no Ray tonight either).

Show started around 10:30, I think. Two sets of about 1:15, plus encore, ending around 1:45, or so. A little more of a laid back, funky feel tonight, with more extended instrumentals and jams, along with the following recognizable pieces (to me anyway; I'm sure there's one I missed):

Got My Mojo Workin' (with a more cool Curtis Mayfield vibe than last night, and the only repeat; Melvin vocal)
11/4 Jam (instrumental, with several "movements" including Spanish Jam and The Eleven)
Get Out Of My Life Woman (Melvin and Bobby totally grooved on this; hell, so did John & Barry too; Melvin vocal)
Superstition Jam (yes, the Stevie Wonder tune; all instrumental, very funky and even a 7/4 break in the middle!)
Stop That Train (awesome as the encore; Melvin vocal, of course)

Hung out with good Zoners Tar & Kelly and a couple of their friends during the show (Tar took some pictures; looking forward to seeing them in larger format here). The Oriental is as good a venue as other Zoners (like Tar & Kelly) have suggested it is. It will now probably rival the Gothic as my personally preferred place to see a show (indoors) in Denver. One of the best parts is tiered elevated sections leading down to a "dance pit" in front of the stage (interesting; the Gothic is kind of tiered too). All of this allows for a "full on" dancer section, a "stand and listen" section, a "groove a little" section, and maybe a couple more as well, allowing everyone to coexist peacefully in whatever state they want to be in, but still be close enough so everyone can feed off each other and the band's energy. It's also a venue that is more wide than deep, so even at the back, you're still pretty close to the stage.

Good thing it was a little more laid back tonight too, because I had just enough energy to work in the yard today and enjoy the show tonight. Now it's time for some sleep.

Great show. The Allstars blew the roof off the Oriental Theater. However, bad light and shitty pictures. Oh well.

Ok, here are a couple pictures I managed to salvage. We were right up against an counter edge, so the camera was still, but the large screen of moving psychedelic animations were causing the camera not to focus correctly. Yeah, this was my canon pocket cam, not my nikon dslr. Good Memories of this show!!

Enjoy!!
