Hey,
Mr. Dave is my all-time favorite musician, and I've worked at The Zoo for about 18 years (parttime), so it was a great match!
I've seen Dave with El Rayo-X, with drummer Walyy Ingram (whose cancer is in remission), and solo. He's always a blast.
I had just gotten back from the NOLA Jazzfest, and was wiped out, but there was no way I was gonna miss this. It was only his second time playing the Zoo, but he remarked how much he liked it there.
Among other tunes, he played "Meth Lab Boyfriend". "Mercury Blues", "When a Man Gets Boobs", and "Catfood Sandwiches", along with Springsteen, Zevon, and Steve Earle covers among others. He played saz, bouzouki, and a variety of custom guitars. Great night.
More details, if anyone cares... Peace.
Saw El Rayo X a bunch of times..Maybe Lindley once since them days..
Looks like it was billed as "Evening With" show..
Meaning..??..

Sounds great.
FYI for CO Zoners, Dave's website seems to imply that he will be part of the Leo Kottke & Loudon Wainwright show at Chautauqua in Boulder on 07/21. Either that, or he has a separate gig at the same campus (if there is more than one place there for shows?).
David and Wally used to come to Japan a lot. I saw them 3 times at small music festivals in the mountains. Quite a party. It's a wonder why both those guys aren't way more recognized considering their talent.
Mr. Dave does have a strange anti-taping paranoia though. You can read his rants on his webpage.
Dave has a buttload of stories to tell, considering all the people he's played with. I asked him who he HADN'T played with yet, and really wanted to, and he replied "Neil Young, Buddy!".
One of his favorite people to work with is Dolly Parton, because she knows exactly what sound she wants, and she's so genuine and easy to work with.
I've always thought that Mr. Dave would be a blast to hear with Phil or Bobby!
he just played by me w/ leo kottke...i missed the show...gotta get em next time.
Lindley's also playing a FREE two-day festival in Copper Mountain. Dickey Bett & Great Southern, Peter Rowan & Tony Rice will also be there. Check out www.davidlindley.com.
