Just a quick one
Saw the Bad Brains show in New Yawk on the Rock's off boat was pretty much a crazed party that smelt of weed, sweat
and cold beers. Some old tunes especially from the "I Against I" and "Rock for Light " lots of the new ones...half hardcore half reggae the show wuz split down the middle n HR wuz in rare form.>When is he not ? SInging bout the war, world peace, washington, demons and all that. I enjoyed this tune ""Jah People Make the World Go Round" people were going off..>Someone wuz remixing dub n marley stuff before the show so as the boat pulled from dock it must have been fun to see the tea cloud trailing behind in the air. It was rebelious, it spoke to my inner child, I saw old friends and made new ones...It was a returning home for many. BAd BRains always intriged me. One of the only punk/metal/underground bands where folks dance. Sometimes u gotta defend yrself but that is what makes it more interesting>>It can be dangerous, it can be like dynomite and it also can be inspiration, spiritual and insightful. The bad behind HR wuz tight. Snare drum head tuned snappy and loud MF'n Guitar n bass. They got a new cd out on Megaforce callled Build a Nation . If u want to touch base with HR n crew it is a great and you will not be dissapointed. Just remember who these guys are and what they did for music.. What they did for the NEw Yawk scene that I grew up in hand n hand with all the hippie shite. If ya neer to a show don't miss it. Before the show I wuz chilln on the rear deck and Hr came out .>Slim and dark shades on... HE looked at all of us n we told him we have been waiting for this show and he just smiled, pulled down his shades so u can see his eyes, n he bellowed," Jah Rastafari - blessings among his people"
Then he wuz gone... The Lion roared in New Yawk last nite. I represented for the ones that could not be there
thanx n praise
PS... There is nothing like a rock n roll concert in NYC....When the bar is raised bands tend to try to jump over... Anyway - Lots of joy in my heart today
Great review, Tom. Thanks for posting and glad you had what sounds like a great time. One of the greatest bands of all time. I'm curious to check out the new disc. And would love to catch them live again.
