~The Sounds of San Francisco~Summer of Love 40th Anniversary ~

A great show at BB Kings on 42nd St in NYC last night, with a full moon rising over the city on a beautiful June night.
Quicksliver played a great set, with Bobby Vega,
Gary Duncan, and Dave Freiberg jamming hot on some old QMS classics like Fresh Air, Gypsy Lights, Mona and some new material. Linda Imperial sharing vocals, great band, jazzy and jammy.

Big Brother, with two original members, rocked some heavy blues playing tribute to Janis Joplin and the Summer of Love. Some classics with a great version of Ball and Chain and a fine performance by the band and singer.

The Jefferson Starship totally rocked the house and blew the room away. A fantastic set, just totally rocking. A big energy Friday night NYC crowd.
Marty Balin sounding excellent, Bobby Vega sitting in most of the set. Paul Kantner sounding great, Slick Aguilar rocking the house on guitar, Diana doing a fine job singing. Heres their set list.

Wooden Ships,
She has Funny Cars,
Get Together, Triad, Today,
Count On Me, All Fly Away, Miracles,
Summer of Love, Hearts, Because We Ended As
Lovers->Freeway Jam, Harp Tree Lament,

White Rabbit, When The Earth Moves Again, Jane, Greasy Heart, Pride of Man, Volunteers.

Enc: Coming Back To Me, Someboday To Love.

some great stuff in here, Marty doing a great version of Miracles and Coming Back to Me, Jane and Pride of Man were powerful,~when the earth moves again~ A great show, a rocking crowd , many on their feet for much of the set. Paul Kantner's crew, once again, brings it on to 42nd Street.

Now that sounds like a fantastic Summer of Love show!!

Too bad that they're competing with the free Summer of Love 40th Anniversary show in Golden Gate Park on Sept 2nd when they play at the Sausalito Arts Fair the same afternoon.

There is no competition. Arts Festival and Summer of Love 40th in the park are on different days. Also, how do you add David Getz, Peter Albin and Sam Andrew (3 original members of big brother) to make TWO? Just curious.

Voo.. yes , have a nice summer

Michelle, i think the drummer was on board, its a bit fuzzy now, so that does make three

Also Donny Baldwin was drumming for Quicksilver and JS, and Chris Smith was on keyboards
