Took the bride to The Cutting Room to see The Loveman
What a blast. Tighter than tight. The usual trumpet/sax/La Bam'bone lineup was altered: No sax, but another 'bone.
For the first two numbers. Then it was 'bones aplenty. Two dudes come out of the audience.
FOUR 'bones. Also, a smokin' chica sat in to sing "I'll Take You There".
For one tune, the horn guys took to the house while the rhythm section kept cookin' on stage.
We had a personal La Bamba solo at our table
$10 cover. Parked right on the corner. And Stella on tap. A great evening.
Mark's CD/DVD package is a steal at 12 bucks. Available at his site.
One very cool mistake for a bar or two: While Mark was soloing, La Bamba was turning pages on the two music stands set up for the 'bones. He gets them set up and the other three guys step up and blow...
except they all come in early, playing the GUITAR part. LaBamba waives them off for a bar, and then all four of them kick in at the right spot.
If you get a chance, GO!
Mark is also a very cool guy. Great to hang out with.
Mark Pender sat in with PLU alumni for a couple tunes at the PLU Reunion show in NYC on 1/19/07.

I wasn't at the PLU gig, but I did listen to it on live stream while I was in live chat, and Zoners were raving about Mark's jamming ability.
When I ordered the CD/DVD, he asked how the band was doing
