I wasn't there but I've heard that it was a great show. Unfortunately the recording has yet to surface.
Here is a link to a review of the show:

From the review: "I attended the Widespread Panic show last August and The Cards put these guys to shame. They could play circles around a band like Panic."
Ridiculous.
where's the poster? and where's my berkeley stream?
no sign of berkeley yet - apparently 2 tapers - 1 sdbd, 1 aud - 1 who is a zoner i believe
SC poster still best
guessing I ruined the Berkeley recording
I did cause Ry to look like a dear caught in the headlights
listened to SC and it was good but I know BCT was better
i too believe that as good as the catalyst was, that berkeley was better - i'd like to hear red rocks too based on the stuff i've read
if/when it pops up i'll put a link here
open your ears, andrew...regardless of what you think of ryan, the cardinals are one of the best touring and recording bands going right now...

They are a very good band, but play circles around Panic? Saying stupid shit like that just shows how ignorant some RA fans are when it comes to differentiating between a great singer song writer, and a group of seasoned improvisational professionals.
Well, the Cardinals as musicians are certainly seasoned professionals.
But dismissing them for not being around as long as WSP is about as logical as dismissing early GD because they weren't "seasoned".
All of the members of this band have been around for a while, and a couple have had success on their own as artists and producers prior to joining this band.
Unlike the vast majority of bands that fall into the "jam-band" genre these days, the Cardinals actually have a band leader who happens to be a great songwriter. The fact that he has surrounded himself with some great musicians puts them head and shoulders above most bands on the road right now, imho.
Thanks JOE.
And I like what RA and the Cardinals are doing more than some people around here, Dubstar, just don't really think they could play circles around Panic. That's all, hopefully it doesn't mean my ears are closed.
Thanks JOE.

I responded to your reaction of "ridiculous"...and even though it sounds like you know what the cardinals are up to, quite a bit of people here don't and as a result there are often posts that are dismissive of RA and the band from people who have never listened to anything beyond a song or two with phil...I think the recent live shows and the material from the last 2 years that is available on the archive definitely shows the ability of RA and the band to jam and improvise as well as anyone...improvisation and jamming is not limited to one style of playing, that's for sure...
as for panic, they don't do much for me, but the musical ability of the band is clearly impressive regardless of my personal opinions...comments such as put down the crack pipe when comparing bands that are clearly comprised of talented musicians regardless of the style of music played really aren't constructive and to me are simply negative...I've seen Herring play numerous times, with phil and others, and while technically amazing, he does little for me on an emotional level or even in regards to tone, which I concentrate on as often as the proficiency (sp?) of playing...
now if we're talking SCI, I might engage in a few of those negative comments myself : )
here's a torrent of the Red Rocks show - it's an audience recording, sounds pretty good so far
