I would like to thank Phil, Warren, Jimmy, John and Rob for the outstanding "Paradise Waits Fall Tour 2001." Once again you guys blew me away! Phil & Friends is like a fine bottle of wine, it gets better with age! However, I do think that the name of the tour should have been titled "The Return of Blues For Allah." I say this because I think Phil was making up for the "Blues For Allah Tour" the Grateful Dead never performed back in the fall of 1975. I was looking at my DeadBase and found some similarities between this tour and what the Grateful Dead were doing back in 1975. If you owe a DeadBase check out these dates & set lists: 8/13/75 Great American Music Hall, S.F., CA; 8/2?/75 *Blues For Allah is released*; 9/28/75 Lindley and Speedway Meadows, Golden Gate Park, S.F., CA >(show billed as "Jerry Garcia and Friends.") Yes indeed, the "Philzone" took me back to the fall of 1975!!! Wow, what a trip, many thanks Phil!!!

Agreed. I caught 8 shows this tour, and three of them were the best Phil shows I've ever seen. Those three were easily as good as anything I saw last summer, and I caught 9 in the summer.

For those burning with curiosity, my favorites this tour were Monday, Saturday and Sunday at the Beacon. Rippin' high-energy displays of musical virtuosity one and all... Excellent work guys, keep it coming! Let's get that spring tour organized now, shall we?

Don

Well I only caught one show, but I have some thanks:
Namely, Phil and the aforementioned friends. As usual the show I saw (11/26) sorta spiritual in how good it was.

also Dave, who I was hanging with throughout the whole show around the middle of the balcony area --- you rock.

And, before i sound like an academy award winner or something ((tears in eyes, the whole deal ... )) thanks to the people in the chatroom for consistent setlists (Frankl!!!) and for being fun to chill with

Thanks to Phil and the Usual Suspects and the entire crew that bust their ass every night to put on some great f'ing music every night.

It's great to see everyone's different perspective and interpretation of each show.

Whether you though a particular show was good or bad, be happy that we still can enjoy the great music these guys put out each night, live and rocking.

Also a BIG thanks to all the tapers out there that are able to bring the music out to those that couldn't be there in that space in time.

Let Phil Sing...Let Phil Sing...Let Phil Sing.....
Hey Now....Phil and Friends...I Saw the Dead in Telluride in 1987 and the 2nd day Brokedown Palance encore 'tripped'. I always thought that was something to look back on - I have the tape and it is hellarious / Jerry stops the whole thing after quite a few verses////Bob 'wait a minute this is all fucked up' / Jerry 'were in the wrong key' / Jerry ' You guys aren't used to this' / Bob ' Altitude and all '..............you all started over and it was oh so sweet - and I thought of that when you ran it out Sunday night. Thank You For A Real Good Time !!!
Please come see us in Minneapolis in 2002.
Reguards;
Lip

Many things have to come together to make the ultimate tour. All of the stars aligned as Paradise Waited, on us.

Memorable Props for Multiple Shows

Listerine Windowpane
HCSS and UBC themed Bic Lighters
Cellphone or electronic pagers(not for us, for the chatties)
Orpheum discs from the previous weekend
Thoughts of angels including George Harrison
A blue SUV on the corner of 74th and Broadway
And lastly, 350 Make Jimmy Sing signs

The Ultimate Cast

There is a reason why we never hooked up with LessThan and GraterThan last summer. It all leads into one though, and from Lehigh thru the Beacon, you all were part of this tour for me and the incredible friendliness you bestowed on my “circle” will never be forgotten. From the tops of your heads to your tiny pinky toes, you two are the real deal and it is an honor to know you.

A, C, and T: in no particular order. How cool was this run. C, it just rocks that we are going to New Years together. The three of you are as much a part of the tour as the music itself, and I love you all for it. A, at least we were smart enough to stay off the phone till 2AM. T, we actually sat together for more than a minute. How fun. The topper was definitely Sunday night. We spent an entire show together, which meant no need for reviews-“just one look, that’s all it took”, to see we were all on the same page. You all are the very best of what this scene means to me. Listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock our souls.

Rich: Not enough words in the English language to describe the warmness in my heart to have you back on the bus. My only regret in not bringing my cameras in; I missed the expression on your face after the first set on Tuesday night. You and Pete looked like you had been dosed by Kesey himself. To think that our last show together was 10.14.94. It was too much time gone by, and seeing you guys (and Fisch), well time disappeared. Pure bliss having you back.

BrianW: from Boston to the Beacon, you are the very best companion, even if I do only see you in the lobby. You were a better friend than you will ever know. “may God bless you, and keep you forever young”.

CL1 and M: M, you get an award for “keep coming back, it works if you work it”. Your loyalty to CL goes unmatched, lunch at Legal of all places, and Route de Tea. CL, it sucked, and yet we had a great time. Haven’t laughed so hard in a very very long time. Spring at Orlando Hard Rock. Does this mean I have to sleep in a dorm? It could have been another Camden, and you guys made it too much fun. Justin, whoever you are, wherever you are, thanks for more than you will ever know. Justin, the great protector, with the amazing smile. You rock dude.

CL2: So glad you are in my life, and that you are always there. I love you more than words can tell. And I will share a Stella with you anytime. Meanwhile, Where’s Lehigh already?

CL3: I think that no matter how hard I may potentially try, I will never be able to forget you. Thank you for unending laughter, and the opportunity to consistently display my vocabulary skills. You are memorable for so many reasons, and I value you in my life. Of course half the time you are a complete asshole, or as dense as a forest, but that too makes me laugh ucontrollably. “you know its going to be alright”. I try to never make promises I cannot keep.

CL4: Don’t feel bad you are fourth, just roll with it like you do everything. Sorry things aren’t going to work out, but it sure was fun trying. Bookends, Monday and Sunday. And stop holding your breath for SOTM. It’s not going to happen.
TaperR: So nice to hook up with you. Definetely dinners and shows and whatever else in NYC in the future.
B,S&T: From the Parking lot at Oakdale, the minute I met you guys, it was like we had known eachother forever. You are the three kindest, warmest, funniest and most loyal and supportive friends ANYONE could ever have. What you have done for me is just short of a miracle and I will never be able to repay you for that. B, especially good to finally spend some time hanging in a Lobby, and not talking show. The security tale is going to have me laughing for years…too effing funny.
Band and Families: There will never be words to describe what you generate in us all. It is such a blessing to have this amazing musical experience that enables us to “Zone” out and ponder life in such an open and free environment. God bless you for your generosity of spirit.
Farmer: The coolest dude ever. Sorry you got into trouble with the Make Jimmy Sing signs, but tell Haynes I am very very happy to cop to that one. Too damn funny. Now, where are we with that Sympathy for the Devil?
Lastly, certainly not leastly, to the Philzone crew. You created this incredible community, and will never really be able to comprehend all of the wonderful things it does for people. You all, and your labor of love, are so vital to the "Phil" community, and the absolute freedom you allow people to express themselves is unconditionally generous. The music brought us together, it is the foundation. This is what generates the friendships far and wide, and perpetuates the good vibes.
Peace, at least till New Years, then lets raise some holy hell!!!

"MAKE JIMMY SING!!"--thats great!! Phil being on tour is such a blessing. He's got me back in the aisles dancing and smiling ear to ear. I tend to not compare it to the Dead because it is more of a that was then this is now thing. The Dead, Phil and friends, Ratdog, TOO's, Robert Hunter....geez we have been blessed with a rich history of people who put EVERYTHING into their music. Phil loves a good show, and we give him some great shows these days. He looks so damn great lately dancing around!!! Go Phil Go!!! Thanks to all the peeps who work everynight making our shows very profesional. Peace out ....

lessthan, greaterthan, and equalto, dewit c and a and all the new phriends I made words are not enough to describbe the joy...but it is not necessary because you "already know"
When I was driving bymyself allthe way up to Burlington that little doubt creeps in like it occ does "what am I doing?" but then I saw The Lake and heard NFA and remebered all the ranks of which I am a member and I was there for all of us
and felt it again when we all connected. Happy holidays to all...and to all a Great Next Show.

Ah, my family. Tom, yeah, I get to say his name out loud. So cool to finally have you in here. What took you so long? C is next. I feel it. I will break them New Years with help from Less and Grater. I wish you could come out, you and A. Oh, now, that would be...but we will be toasting you all, and I will surely be calling until it is too late. And thanks, for everything, and the profile...I am so utterly blessed to have friends like you all. The Guitar Gently...and the extraordinary No More Do I's...what a day, and night. Play it loud and often, and never enough.
