This was a fantastic show at a surreal spot with flawless wx. To top it off, my wife decided to come along to SF for a job interview, was offered the position the next day. We move in three weeks to Santa Fe.
This is a show I will not forget soon.
Thanks Phil & Friends!!
I was at the Fillmore, Red Rocks, and Santa Fe. Musically the 3rd set of RR was the best, but this show was probably the most special show I've ever been to. The venue was about 1000 people max, nestled into a hillside on an Indian reservation. You were able to walk around anywhere, and I spent the whole show about 10 feet from Jackie on the side (basically between him and the monitor soundboard), right next to the PA. I captured amazing video footage on my digital camera of a few of the jams, and the entire Weight encore. As soon as I figure out how to compress it (right now it's 600mb) I'll post it somewhere.
The show was great musically, especially the Eyes, Help->Slip->Franklin's, and the Cumberland. Jackie's got a great voice, and the band is playing very well together.
I also spent about 10 minutes talking to Jackie "backstage" (which was him standing on one side of the side railing and me on the other). Very humble, said he's having a lot of fun so far.
Thanks Matt. I love that venue and wished I coulda made it. Saw Bobby there a month or so ago, very good show. Glad to hear Phils back on track, last few years have been rocky IMO. Love is real not fade away
The venue was fantastic, aside from its architectural beauty which was immense...we were late and had no idea how to get in from where we'd parked, ended up walking into the backstage area before somebody stopped us in the friendliest way you could imagine. I was also impressed that the place sold no alcohol but nobody gave a rat's ass who smoked what, where, or how often.
amen. sure hope somebody took pics of the stage creature when it was lit up !
This show was incredible. The band was in top form, and we all could see. Excellent venue, excellent crowd. IMO better than the RR show.
