Play us a tune Phil!
I just noticed the ten-day-gap between Syracuse and NYC. Wonder if something will pop up in between?
tom "outland" martel call seattle
Great tour thus far! cant wait for syracuse....does anyone have any good info for the venue?
Seems like Syarcuse will have a low Zoner turnout.
I will be there and I frequent the Zone all the time. I live in Brackney, PA and it is 7 miles from Binghamton, NY, where the original Zoner is from, Rod Sterling grew up in Bing. and 3 twilight zone episodes are set in areas in binghamton. I saw the GD at war memorial in The cuse in 82 and all the Dome shows. The bbq place on west street is the dino bomb. a biker family rib joint with all the fixins' The Squarein the downtown area has a few good pubs and bars. The close of the 1st leg of fall tour will be the night to catch. I got a floor seat just days ago. the cuse and phil and jg (jackie green that is)
is this the old war memeorial the GD played in?? if so ..i have many old fond memeories of that old building...you giys are in for a treat,,,,if those old walls could talk...i would listen
Veterans of War Memorial - If i have Floor section 1, seats 1-2, am I more towards the center or to the far right of the section? Dosnt really matter, just curious.
section 1 is aud right or stage left and then 2 then 3 on the audiance left as far as the seat plan on ticmaster says.
And yes this is the War Memorial that the Grateful Dead played in many times. Like the vet. war memorial hockey arenas in Roch. and Binghamton, and maybe even Utica.
Yea. I mean actual seat numbers - As in, does seat #1 start on the left side or right side of section1?
i don't believe it is the War Memorial...it is the OnCenter @ the War Memorial.....a newer bldg. for smaller events....I know it is at 800 State St....has it's own parking ramp
that's Exit 18....Adams/Harrison...South State Street....
LOOK OUT SYRACUSE....MIKE W IS ON HIS WAY !!!!
Kinda nervous about tonight after last night's epic show. Hopefully 'cuse won't be overlooked. Maybe an acoustic set???

Thanks for the updates Rob! Show over by 11. Walked out of Glens Falls at 1230. The band is cooking indeed. Getting ready for Nokia...
Any word on how Jack Greene was feeling tonight ?
Guess he has had the flu.
You are very welcome, I am glad my boys hung in there with the phone. The 1st set may be a bit off, but the rest is gold... See you at Nokia!
Yeah, wondering if Jackie tried harder tonight...
WOW
I admit I was a little jealous of last night's crowd. I am totally happily satisfied
WOW
Yes Team Rob.. good work there...
Thanks... Enjoy the rest Phil! See you Phreaks in NYC...
fire on the mtn for our poor state of CA. It's burning up;(
I gotta say, I was a little nervous going into last night's show but I left there completely satisfied. After a so so Ripple to start (some sound problems - actually sounded like it might stop at some point) they really kicked it into gear. Phil was really into it - pumping his fist etc..Jackie's tunes really fit in well and he really stepped it up. Sugaree was definitely the highlight of the first set starting out slow and bluesy - really showcasing Jackie's good voice - and ending with Larry ripping it up. Second set just never stopped. Golden road just got everyone going and the Other One nearly blew the roof off the place - very heavy and dark sounding. Great jamming from GDTRFB through Eyes with Jackie doing some great soloing throughout. Scarlet was a little messy at the beginning and end but decent. New Speedway was just plaing awesome - very gritty/dirty sounding (in a good way) I'm hesitant to say that Jackie sang it better than Jerry; but it was damn close and the band nailed it. What else can I say about the closing songs that their titles can't say for themselves. Great show, glad I went. New York is in for a treat.

Was there really a break after the Other One with GDTRFB as a stand alone?
It almost came to a break as they noodled into it
What a show and Jackie G. is being passed the torch. We need to support this talented artist because I want to bring my son to see shows playing some of this great music after the founders have decided to rest. New Speedway Boogied!
It did look like Jackie Green was under the weather. But Molo & Phil were just freakin ON and Larry Campbell is one alpha dog of a guitarist. I was right on the rail in front of Phil & I took some lethal blows from the man, one particular low C on the B string in the Wheel was just SUB SONIC! Also, what a nitrous festival in the lots, before and after! I didn't know so many dentists and scuba divers were in Syracuse. LOL
was it a full terrapin or jus the inspiration like previous shows?
and did they really play ramble on rose or is this another gone wanderin psych out?
the terrapin was the inspiration piece and the ramble on was the Gone wondering song Jackie does. The shows Sat. Sun. were off the hook hot. all four sets just all out great stuff.
Jackie has had the flu real bad the last few days... He will benefit from the time off, and just wait until the NYC Marathon folks...

The energy and this show rocked!!!
Steal your Upstate!
Didn't know what to expect as I have seen almost every Phil and Friends rotation, I was rabid about Warren, Jimmy, Barraco, Molo group, aka the "Quintet" so I was wary and I strayed away from the Robinson year...but damn, these guys are SMOKING!!! It absolutely blew me away...
Plus my buddy finally broke out of his Jerry coma and I convinced him to go...he is super skeptical of any post Jerry stuff...
Needless to say, he was stoked through the Second Set, which from beginning to end was simply superb...
They fought off the noisy venue with sheer musicianship...
If you haven't gone...GO! You will not regret it.
WOW!!!
Amazing show! Best 2nd set of the tour?
hopefully they will keep practicing and adding new songs before they get to new york.
Break out the Foolish heart Phillip.....with jackie singing this band could pull it off. Oh and maybe an acoustic dark hollow.
re "What a show and Jackie G. is being passed the torch."
I totally agree - I think Phil has been deliberating choosing people in whom the flame of the dead musical legacy can continue to burn.
He's like the johnny appleseed of the dead legacy - everyone who has played with him over the past several years will undoubtedly keep the tunes alive in multiple ways
I'm so pumped about this line up. Amazing show in camden. I've never seen so much consistent positivity on the zone :-).
I'm with the review above that compares this line up to the Q. I love jackie. I love the jackie songs. i love when phil is happy. I love molo. Larry campbell has impressed me more on this tour than any other. Could they be having so much fun that we get some additional tours. How about another february tour through the Tower Theatre phil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes we will probably get more tours because in an interview Phil was talking about his recent frustration of only being able to get musicians to play for a little while, with their various commitments etc. He then mentioned how these guys have given him a year's worth of their wonderful musical talents to play with. So, spring and another fall tour here we come! I hope.
and to that I say...
Fuck Yea!!!
Spring/Summer Tour here we come
Just another great show by my favorite guy in Rock. Phil is just thoroughly entertaining for me, his energy, and he just seems to have great fun playing with his band. Keep it goin Phil, and as usual Thank you for a reeeeel good time.
Spring shows, yes indeed-dee
I will be buying the sbd of this one
gorgeous sound
