Hi all. I went up to Brooklyn for the Hips show Saturday night and thought I'd post a little review for any fans of the band out there. Tim and John sat in on guitar and drums with openers Golden Hiss Messengers. Really great music, they really knew the tunes well, and Tim took some kick ass solos. First time hearing GHM and liked what I heard. Mother Hips played for 2 hours(per usual). I didn't write down a setlist but to the best of memory they played:
Red Tandy(opener)
Workingman's Blues
Honeydew
Single Spoon(awesome!)
Time We Had
Not So Independent
Later Days
Do It On The Strings
And Not Cry
No-Name Darrell
TGIM
Poison Oak(super jam-out on this)
K.C. Southern
Es:Let Somebody
Mission In Vain
The venue was a pain to get to, at least there was a parking garage close by. This was not as good a show as Hoboken in May. Still a blast, but won't go there again. Hope their record company or management get their act together so they play a place like World Cafe Live or some other place in Philly area(where I'm from). Wasn't their most focused set. Maybe jonesin' to get to Chicago? I don't know. So glad I got to catch the show anyway!
I was glad to see they'd reformed and enjoyed the hell out of their show up here in Seattle earlier this year. Thanks for the review!
it's a big job getting by with nine kids and a wife...
Always love when they do that tune!
