Never heard of Jim White, but an old friend is playing bass for him on his Europe tour and we just happened to be in Amsterdam the week they came through. Lucky break!
Solid set, Jim backed up by a lead guitarist and a bassist, twangy rockabilly/folk/ballad stuff punctuated with silly stories in between, a lot of ironic dry humor. Sorry I don't have a set list, all I remember is that they wrapped up with "A Bar is Just A Church Where they Serve Beer".
If you're a Jim White fan then definitley check out this lineup when they come around; new album out and although this band doesn't play on the album they are capable and efficient. Especially notable is the effects heavy lead guitarist Pat.
