Intimate setting (Silo in Reading, PA) ,not oversold, provided wondrous ground for these musicians to construct and create a magical tapestry throughout pretty much the whole evening.
NRPS and Donna and the Tricksters both played stellar shows and kept the energy high and the vibes positive. Boogie factor off the hook

It was a wonderful show and we had a complete blast! Donna Jean & the Tricksters and the New Riders are good friends, so there was a lot of interplay all night long which added to the good feeling of the night. After a nice long show (one hour and a half Donna Jean & the Tricksters set and two New Riders' sets plus an all-star jam) there was a late night acoustic jam at the hotel that went until 5 AM. Here is a little piece of that from youtube.com:
Friend of the Devil Jam
Absolutely!
Just a great New Year's Party.
The show was quite nicely played with a real nice laid-back atmosphere.
There were a full dozen musicians on stage for the post-Midnight set with an incredibly competent mixing job from the soundboard dude, I think his name was Scarecrow or something like that, and he also played a set of his own during one of the setbreaks, which was a real treat.
It's quite a feat, I think, to get two drummers, two bass players, and a multitude of guitar and/or pedal-steel players and vocalists into some sort of coherent mix, but this guy did it !!! And it sounded great.
Meanwhile, the whole vibe of this show was just as friendly and laid-back as anyone could ask for, including the aftershow jam at the hotel, with a vast majority of the musicians showing up for a few riffs and brewskis in the late-nite conference room section, staying up way past their bedtime and singing a few more songs.
Back at the venue (the Silo) they had a couple of floors and the second floor featured some local dudes pickin' it during one of the set breaks. They were good pickers, but real shy. I asked one of the fellows what they called themself, but he wouldn't tell me like a band name. they played real good, though, with some semiacoustic/electric jams for a nice interlude while the bands downstairs had a break.
Personally, I had a whole bunch of fun and want to thank all of the musicians and management-type personnel involved. What a well-planned and executed NYE event!
Thanks, Reading PA and all of your locals who are so chill.
