bit of a hassle getting in and a loong wait but this band delivered, only one set but great playing from a focused band, I have a feeling the east coast is gonna love these guys, great energy in a packed little room

Great show, Sorry about the lack of setlist updates. No cell coverage.
Overall comments:
Bobby is Bobby. His eyes were piercingly blue and he seemed focused and upbeat. His guitar playing could hardly be called rhythm guitar, more like rhythmic shards, but it was weird in all the right spots and often played a fine counterpoint to Jon's Jerry-smoove licks.
Joe Russo is a beast and he and Phil are one the most simultaneously strong and flexible rhythm sections I've ever seen.
Jay Lane did a pretty good Mickey Hart impersonation and I could finally hear Jeff Chimente, which was a huge improvement. His solo in Let it Grow was one of the best things of the night.
This band is really improving and could continue to go to some "new" interesting placed. The energy level alone makes it worth seeing. Furthur would lap the Dead at leat 10 times in a one mile race.
I also saw 2 separate pairs of tittys. One small set on a tiny wook behind me and a set of floppy jalopys on one girl who was wearing a jacket and 1/2 a shirt with her complete tits hanging out the whole night. Definitely added to the surreal-ness of the whole thing
Wow, what a night..just getting in. caught the Karan with Weir and more special guests too.
Long day, but worth it.
NYC, here they come...Bobby warms up for like 3 hours....he he.
New song= Welcome to the Dance
thanks ro for the go
I was itchy all night - but exhausted enough to get over it
just did not have the spark...
late night last night 3am bedtime after last email- doctors appointment today and
just started my new job at yahoo! on Tuesday, with the rain, long drive and traffic ( and 3 DNBs last recently to ease the pain) - skipping out was not in the cards
well done all that represented and rocked surrealy
Oh, this is really pleasing to read.
Now I'm REALLY psyched to see this band!
They were definitely hot.
East Coast? Start your engines!
kewl kewl...thanks for the review/ pic Canyon. I couldnt make it...broke my foot hiking...down for the count- 4weeks in an aircast...i am such a clutzzzz ;-((
Voodoo..What really happened..??..

((((( Voodoo's Foot )))))
Aircast on an airhead...
Not..
Phil wearing his "On My Island" clothes
Voodoo, ya got plenty of time to heal up before the next one..unless there's another stealth show tonight???
Thanks for the pictures, Canyon. And the reports, folks.
I hear ya Joel..we'll get there next time
Rock on!!
Voodoo, hope you heal up quick!
Thanks for the reports, folks. Love that stuff like this still happens, wherever it happens.
>>just started my new job at yahoo! on Tuesday, <<
See if this kid still works there!

heyooooooooo....nothing like a set of party sacks to get the groove flowing
Hey, that show was the tits, man.
For Christmas I am asking Santa for plane tickets back home, back EAST... This band is worthy of a return to Hampton, Radio City, Cornell!
Thanks for the info and reports, Fairfax-goers. Great to hear that the energy's there.
considering that no tapers were allowed, i wonder if theyll make this available as a free d/l.
>>>>>>>>>>>Voodoo..What really happened..??..
when you slip on the bootleggars stairs at Mori Pt...yeah you really can break your foot hiking...duh! gDADSKY ;-))
Canyon is having a decent month.
>>>> considering that no tapers were allowed, i wonder if theyll make this available as a free d/l.
There were at least 3 tapers inside running gear.
HOW LONG WAS EACH SET?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAH NWO SHSHSUSHI AND COMT O PAPA.9~
Right on!
>>Canyon is having a decent month.<<
decade for that matter.
it was really only one set with a very short break to work on some sound issues(what was Bob muttering about any way?). Yeah the titties were flying, really did have some of that old school crazy vibe in there. it's been a while since I had to use my defensive dancing skills like that, glad I still know how, took a few good shoves from behind, I would have taken out Phil if I fell.
good times in the Philzone for sure!!
>>> There were at least 3 tapers inside running gear.
Sorry, I have to retract my previous statement.... I guess the guys I talked to did not low-pro tape the show....
>>>> I would have taken out Phil if I fell.
LOL!!!
did everyone who was on the list get in?
dont know about the list but many people were shut out. Looks like it was quite a party out there though, there were beer bottles all over the sidewalk by my van.
The list might have been good idea but it didn't really matter at show time.
we tried with the list, but the venue didnt care..
and there seemed to be very little honor amongst those who got there late to respect the line for those who had been waiting for hours...in other words...people who get there late, and push into the line ahead of people who had been waiting for a while really suck.
i think if they sold 35 less tixx they would make the same money since there would be a little more room to actually move around, and maybe by a trick or 3...
overall, it was fun.
i was amused at how attached to the line/space/list people got, and how insecure people get about getting in or not-for something that they didnt even know about the day or 2 before.
overall, the show was fun...the cool people are more memorable then the crowd pushing/space shoving idiots, and the few wooks with no courtesy at all..and my friends and i had fun.
music was good. the JK on althea was outstanding. and i liked how he sang terrapin until inspiration..i wish he would have sang terrapin from inspiration on--but BOB still sounded good.
bob and phil are some skinny dudes! i hope its good/healthy skinny...
playin and let it grow really jammed nicely.
cassidy was good.
the new tune-welcome to the dance is a good song, the jam at the end of it is very uncle johns band like...
hey jude was butchered vocally, until the "nananana" peek part at the end that got everyone on the same page-and a few bobby shouts
help-slip-franks was good..phil sounded good on franks..i think jerry guy would sound better on it.
bob sounded great on good lovin.
fun show.
its only as much work and effort as one allows it o be. i kept my vibe relaxed and stress free..and thats the time i had. relaxed fun stress free..
i had a feeling the list was going to mean shit. I should have just stayed in the second spot in line with beth instead of moving back to the end of the line to correspond with my spot on the list. oh well. i took a page from Doog's playbook and stayed home and comfortable.
it was a fun nite in a small crowded club and they sounded good.
>>>Love that stuff like this still happens, wherever it happens.
Me too!
The Philzone was rockin, and i got my phill...yay~!
Wish you had, MP! It was nice to hang with you for a bit, anyway.
One good ride from start to end, I'd like to take that ride again...AGAIN! THANK YOU FOR A REAL GOOD TIME!!
A review in pictures...
Damn - what great photos, love the shot of Phil and Chimenti - Everyone looks so happy! That is what this trip should all be about, can't wait for Chitown!
<<<<<<<further>>>>>>>>> ! ! !
nice Pictures Frank.
are you 8' tall? like the shots over everyone else...
John K looks pregnant - what have Phil and Bob been feeding him??
awesome shots of a fun night!
OMG Phil is sprouting from Tiff's shoulder!
Fun time, Thanks for the pics
nice pics Frank!! oh yes, what a good time!!!
I had read the rumblings in the zone on this show and called my pal Billy who lives in Fairfax. He had not heard anything but assured me that he’d get right on it. At 10AM he called and said that he had just gone down to the bar. It had not opened yet but there were a half dozen folks already lined up. That was all that I needed, but alas, I was at work and had to get a couple of hour off. An hour later he called me and told me that he put my name on the list and I was in the 30’s. OK, I felt relieved. After bolting from work a bit early and sitting in traffic on 101, I pulled into Fairfax around 5 and the line was a good 200 plus people. I found Billy a dozen yards from the door. The folks in that line were not too happy me getting in close to the front and a gal with the list came down the line telling folks that they were not going to selling tickets until 6:30…Ahhh, I said to myself, just in time. The only thing is that the so called list that the gal was taking was only a list that she had taken and I learned that she was just a fan who had been amongst the first to get there – not any official list. Folks began coming in droves and the line was not getting any longer, only thicker, with a huge mass converging on the door. There were some weird folks too, guys that looked like they just left the mental ward at Bellview,, people with pit bulls walking through the over crowded sidewalks and some folks drinking heavily. Billy and I sized up the mob and liked our chances. There was a mob rush when they opened the doors but we were close to the front, and most importantly our shoulders to the building. By the time we got a few feet from the door people were trying to get in saying that they were on line since 1 O'Clock and were on the line list. The doorman shrugged and told them that if they were on line since that time they already would have been in...and he was telling the truth...By ten to seven we were in the bar and it was empty !!!! We sized up the place immediately and got some beers, the JC Flyer IPA was sensational! We chatted with artist Stanley Mouse who was sitting in the corner, and then hit the head. It took a while for the place to actually fill up…and we settled about a dozen feet from the center stage. The bartender told me that the place held 300. Around 8:30 the band took to the stage and again some of the crowd, it was significantly more crowded than when we first came in, pushed and shoved their way past us. The band roared into Playin and the crowd swayed. During Althea I went back to get more beers and noticed that there was a lot of room in the place; the back of the room was comfy and the back bar was practically empty. The bar was not oversold as people were actually dancing in the back… Nice. After getting the beer back to Billy I told him I was going to hang in the back near a very pleasant air vent and that was the last that I saw of him until show’s end. It was a great show. The band played tight, Bob looked really good and flubbed a line or three, most noticeably during Hey Jude. Phil’s bass playing was awesome, rumbling his thick bottom through the place, wielding his bass which was lit up like a light saber out of Star Wars. He looked real thin though to me. I did see the gal with her huge knockers hanging out, “floppy jalopy’s” as one head noted and a lot of dirty looking wookies. My only complaint was how chatty the crowd was. All the wait to get in and most of them talked throughout the show which I found to be very annoying. What’s with that? By 10:40 we were back out in front of the place. It was a very well performed solid, 2 hour, one set show that was very satisfying. It was then that we noticed the garbage and junk, booze, beer, and wine bottles, and bags of just plain garbage left on the sidewalk from the 19 Broadway down the street. I heard a female cop who was standing there watching the people descend out of the club say; “they were sure a messy bunch tonight.” Instead of going over to see Mark Karen in Sausalito, we took the back roads home as I heard that there was a sobriety checkpoint on Sir Francis Drake. No need to ruin a fantastic evening we thought.
Can't wait til New Years.
i didnt see any sobriety check point on sir francis drake and i took it almost to the 101..
Nice pictures!!
That place looks tiny.
Bet it was one hell of a time!
Well that's good...as everybody left that place toasty...I made a left at Red Hill and went through San Rafael to the 101.
Love that one of you, Tiff!!
Still glowin from it all....
What a crazy way to spend our friday, eh?
Thanks to you boyz for holding back the wooks! We got over to Mark Karan's show just in time to see Bobby sit in...I love that venue (Harbor Lights in Sausalito) We went there again last night and saw Front Street rock out....it would be a great venue for David Nelson to play!
Wow, Nelson all last week, stealth Furthur and now a week of heavy Turkey Day indulgences and see you all out at NRPS!
Can't wait!!!!!
killer pics ! phil & bobby ! from the big stage to the bar and all points in between, history is still being made!
yeah quite a ride from there to here,eh?
Great pic's and awesome times...thanks to all!!!
Hey now, "floppy jalopys" is a real, real good friend of mine. I am amazed that she is getting some airplay on this discussion board. Born and bred right here in Fairfax, so show a little respect. She was one of the hottest gals in the place that night and obviously all you alls got an eyeful. If you aren't from California, well this is the norm. It isn't the first or last time a beautiful mama is going to show her goods whens she's feeling it. And hey, at least they are natural beauties. The bartenders and staff were down, so you should be too. It went right along with the whole day, beautiful people to go with beautiful music( which by the way was sick). So give this girl some credit where credit is due. I Didn't see any other chics, or guys for that matter stepping up. American's are too repressed. Thought this was discussion about the music not some girls breasts. She is my girlfriend, and the rest of her bod ain't that bad either my friends....She will be there at NYE, so bring a camera.
Best pics we have seen here in awhile. Merci
See you all in Wallingford and Asbury Park
Nice pics, looks like a blast.
Is this out there for d/l anywhere?
