This was the third time at this venue for the NRPS and it was also the smallest crowd they had there. No matter as the folks that were there seemed to be enjoying themselves. As I have mentioned before this place is a sit down crowd, with a few folks that stand on the sides so that they can shake their bones as the NRPS work their magic.
This was also the first show of this mini-tour. The week rehearsing at Turkey Trot Acres made the show seem like it was along in the tour, not the first one, where sometimes it takes the band a while to get going.
Dead Flowers got things off to a good start. Contract is a song I could hear at every show and not tire of it. One Too Many Stories was a treat as they don’t play that one all that often. Garden Of Eden was great as always. Starting to see a pattern here? It was a good show!
I wrote about the new songs in my Knitting Factory review, but I will say again how it these songs are developed already, and they will only get better as the crowd and band gets more familiar with them. Good for the NRPS for keeping it fresh.
The second set had a great transitions from FOTD>Glendale Train. My brother wanted to hear a Truck Drivin’ Man, and hear it he did. They rocked that one good. Any Naked Eye went to the familiar places during the jam.
A short review here as work calls soon, but don’t take that as a sing of a weak show, I just don’t have more time to elaborate. Plus, really all I ever say in these reviews is that the show was great!
Thanks NRPS!!
Always enjoy reading your reviews, John. Thanks for taking the time to post.
Any tapers at this show, or the following night at the Knit?
I saw 2 rigs upstairs on the balcony rail at the Knitting Factory.
Gary-
I think friends of mine taped at the Knitting Factory, I need to email them.
If I get it I will offer it on the zone.
There was one taper at the FTC that I saw, and I think the same friends of mine talked to him about getting a copy, so hopefully that pans out.
