After buying the 1-2-3's and A-B-C's CD and DVD, I took my 2 year old to see They Might Be Giants at Town Hall in New York on Sunday. She loves the songs and especially the DVDs. They're a great deal and she's learning from them. And they are tolerable musically for Mom and Dad. We try not to overwelm her with video but at times, it's just neccesary.

Anyway, the show was a lot of fun. They did a bunch of songs from all of their kids CDs. They had the full band as well as a revolving horn section. They even brought out a 12 year old girl (the daughter of one of the horn players, who sings it on the album) to sing "One Dozen Monkeys". The kids loved it. At 2 my daughter is perhaps a little young to fully appreciate it. Loud noises still freak her out a bit but she seemed to enjoy most of it.

If you are a fan of the band they also did full-on versions of their best known adult tunes like Particle Man, Birdhouse In Your Soul, and Istambul (Not Constantinople) which are also kid friendly.

Anyway, if The Giants come your way with their Special Show For Families and you have a little one, it's a great way to spend an afternoon. Tickets were cheap (only $25) and they gave out a toy. Also if you're looking for good educational music/video for your toddler, They Might be Giants have some good ones.
