Foolish Heart was fantastic - closed with an encore, Touch of Gray. Nailed Loser tonight!
Also a great Hell in a Bucket -
Awesome show tonight. Every song sounded really fresh. So great to see this band working out new songs - some of which have not been dusted off since Jerry and GD days. This is the complete set list...
Sitting on Top of the World (BW)- Upbeat and authentic.
Must have been the Roses (JK)- Very sweet.
Corrina (BW) - Funky, good. Phil leading the charge.
No More Do I (JK) - A show highlight. Great great great Hunter/Lesh song. Jerry would have loved it. JK is perfect for it.
Loser (JK) - Killer. The second jam was ripping. No "sweet susie", but sparkling all the way through.
Liberty (BW) - Strong, well played.
Senor (BW) - Garcia band favorite works great with back up singers. Just like JGB. Phil dropping bombs through out.
Foolish Heart (JK) - Best song of the night for me. Totally euphoric. I forgot how great this song was live.
Hell in a Bucket (BW) - Ripping, re-worked to make it more funky.
Encore: Touch of Grey (BW/JK/PL). Energetic encore closer.
Looks like this band is going deep into the Dead archives in preparation for the big tour. I can't wait to see what the next rehearsals bring.
thanks!
Furthur

Another great night in Thrill Valley... John was on all night and continuing to look more and more comfortable and along side Bob & Phil. Love it.
Love these old Jerry tunes with these fresh takes.
For me the highlight was when Bob called for a third time around the 2nd solo in Loser, where it was already drippy, and JK went to a REAL funky guitar tone and Phil just - if I may use the term - GROCKED; his head snapped around with blazing eyes, and nodding with a HUGE smile said "yeah, YEAH!" Then he put his head down and got heavy, really playing with JK, and it was great.
I also really enjoyed Hell In A Bucket and Corrina, a song I pretty much hate, but tonight it had an excellent chunky groove and a nice jam or two.
There was allot of Bob Cheese tonight, we even got a classic HAAAAAAAA from him at one point, but he had allot of family in the balcony tonight, including his dad, and he was looking right at them allot while he was singing, so I think he was just getting into it and having a good time. He's looking real good right now and playing & singing very well. I'm happier with him than I've been in many years; I'm actually enjoying Bob Weir again. And I'm happy about that.
I must say I'm not crazy about the keyboard player. Normally I don't hear him too well, but tonight he was loud & clear where I was, and I thought he was too "busy" much of the time. But that is a fairly normal complaint from me about keyboards in this music. I liked Keith's style best, and while this guy does some nice things at times, for me the keys here are the weak link.
But overall, even with the odd song choices and the lack of classic "show cohesion" the band was snapping 'em off tonight, and it all sounded really good to me.
Oooh... I was hoping they would bring Corrina back into the mix
How was the Foolish Heart?
I thought I was the only one who liked Corrina... 3-10-93 had an awesome peak before the MLBJ
during Corrina, I had one of those moments where I strayed out of time and as I closed my eyes, I had a full on memory rush of being at a Dead show in Vegas and it was hot as hell and someone was spraying me with water and I was laughing and all that stuff and I opened my eyes to some girl spilling beer down the front of my shirt as she was looking all entranced at Phil. LMAO. Corrina was a blazer for sure. One of the best I've ever heard. and I'm a fan of the Ratdog.
What a good time. The Senor was a high for me as was the Foolish Heart. Both songs coming out of left field including the No More Do I.
We stand in line outside before these rehearsals trying to guess what they might play for the night. I love that Furthur keeps throwing us off by pulling out gems like Sittin' On Top of the World. Who would have guessed they would open with that?
what a blast. Taking my wife tonight. Can't wait for her to see this........
>>>>I thought I was the only one who liked Corrina...
Naw... it is just that the assholes are louder...
Thats right the assholes are.... louder
Thats right the assholes are.... louder
Thats right the assholes are.... louder
The assholes are louder....
Thats right, thats right
Good to hang with you Desertdan, and enjoyed your comments. Looking forward to seeing you and the misses tonight!
It was one of those nights that was better to be there, rather than read the set list. Everything was juiced up and well played, and like Lance said, many of us are REALLY enjoying Bobby again these days.
The Foolish Heart was KILLER! I also doug No More Do I,Senor, and Loser, round two tonight, see everybody there, thanks fellas, love Bruce! PS I fell in love with Bob Weir again on the Sunday 9/20/09 show in Oakland,he is definitely looking and sounding and singing the best he has in YEARS!
Other than Loser, was anything else repeated in the Bay Area this time around?
No Surfdead, just the Loser. They did it again, because John lost himself in the lyrics on Sunday night. He nailed it last night.
which makes me wonder what's going to happen tonight. so far it's been a bunch of bust outs at these "rehearsal shows".
also, last night about 5 minutes before the show started, they went around and changed the printed out set lists for everyone. I wonder what the change was?
and I like the sound of the guitar JK was playing last night. Not sure if I've seen him playing that guitar in Oakland and NYE. anyone know?
i LOVE corina you are not alone. BTW I have a lot of Dead Head Friends and as far as I know they all love Corina too---shake it up now
I must say I have been less interest in Bobby Weir these last few years feeling that his bands were not taking me into the great unknown as did the Q. However, the recent Dead tour and last night (where I was right in front of BW & PL) shows me that Bobby is back and thn some. I have seen all is bands from Heaven Help The Fool, the Midnights, the dog and his playing, chording and fluidity last night was among the best. His sound has allso prgressed well and the pickuos on the pink strat must have been changed out as they sound a bit higher. He looks good--dropped a few elbows (now I need too as well) and just really held the rythem down. Long live Bobby Weir!
Corrina was incredible! Hope I can score a ticket to any of the other shows....
