Hot Tuna was so effin great last night that I am still trying to recover! All 4 musicians were absolutely top shelf and blew me away. Jorma is magical. I was 12 feet in front watching in awe as he played his ass off, especially the red electric guitar, yee ha! Jorma's guitar tones bring on ecstacy (the emotion, not the drug)!
Jack has more energy than most 25 yr old guys, and has never lost a step. He thumped away and drove the band all night. His "lead bass" segments were delicious. A master of the 4 string low end thing! Barry Mitterhoff totally belongs in Hot Tuna. He is also a master string player and grooves so well with Jorma & Jack. He played a small 4 string guitar with tones sounding like Santana at times, awesome! Barry played excellent mandolin too, especially on I Know You Rider and 99 Year Blues. Erik Diaz is a highly competent drummer, laying down the backbeat in sync with Jack the whole night. He is young and energetic, which is good because most drummers of any age can't keep up with the masters, Jorma & Jack! This show was just as great as the electric Tuna set at the Furthur Festival in 98 (1st show at shoreline), and I am extremely inspired. Keep on Truckin Hot Tuna!

One of my best friends 1st rock concert ever was Journey and Hot Tuna at the Cow Palace..( Journey with Ansley Dunbar opened)The gig was over at 5am!!Ive been seeing them for 25 years,,they (jorma & jack)are one of the few people left that do "it" for me...I cant wait for tonite,im actually anticipating this .. God Bless Them!!
