I'll start this thread - hope we get show reports!
Just got back from the "theatre" to see what could be done to get in. I don't believe there are any miracles and the line started at noon. Spent at least 40 hrs on line to get tiks - hope some video posts for tonite. MV is the "man" haven! Ugh
It was obvious from last night's crowd that they could sell more tix if they wanted to - the 80 seat balcony was closed and there was enough dancing room on the side of the floor to allow for a few whirling dervish style dancers. So it's not about making money. I suspect they are determined to keep a good relationship with the local PD and other "town managers" and are keeping the crowd size down accordingly. Frankly, I don't blame them. We Deadheads can be a pretty unruly bunch sometimes, especially when we gather in large numbers. I feel for those heads who got shut out, but I have nothing but gratitude for the band for throwing this awesome little party for us. And of course to my buddy, The Great Waldo Freak, who called me last Friday morning to tell me to jump online and get myself a ticket or three.

Thanks to Ian for texts during the show!!!
Enc2; we bid you goodnight!
Great Jeebus! What a difference from last night. Tonight was a barn-burner of the highest order, an all-out stomp of a show. Lots of tasty licks and thick jam with big sticky chunks. The Dew was stunning. I looked around the place about 2/3 of the way thru and the whole audience was staring transfixed as John ripped it up. Simply scrumptious!
another fun night, the Dew was beautiful as was the Bid You Goodnight.
DEW
on the edge of tears
just pleasantly spent
love that song
and this one was a real keeper
upper echelon
WOW
the show started late because Phil didn't show up until moments before they started. as Phil walked on stage, Bobby said "and now our team is all here" and "thanks for your patience, we'll make it worth your while"- and they sure did!!!!
cumberland was hot! great job on this tune. one of my favorites. doing that rag was slow, and awesome! really solid. though JK read the lyrics off his page the entire time. tennessee jed was solid, a pretty standard version. alot less rehearsal-like than the night before, overall at this point. then the jam into Wheel.... they took their time easing into this one, sounded really good. they put more spaces in the tune than Phil normally does. huge crowd singalong. and on into No More Do I... damn this one ripped!!!! awesome stuff! and then jammed into the He's Gone.... this one was pretty special- Bobby and John were exchanging lines on this one- Bobby would sing the first line, and then JK the next, and then everyone on the chorus- great stuff. great solos by John on this one, great rendition. after it was done- Phil was definitely giving John some significant googly eyes. Built to last was a bit surprising to me after this, songwise... but it sounded really good- JK had the 80's sound nailed on this one- the crowd was pumped and singing along. then Peaceful Valley. this song is not in John's singing range. but he did the best he could, it was decent (despite being a RA song haha...)... then song thankfully went into a long jam at the end, morphing into an Other One jam (really wish it went into that song!) and then back out- probably jammed for about 10 minutes until they die down and the band kicks into... Morning Dew. !!!!! for the most part- you could hear a pin drop in the room, very quiet during the quiet parts.... epic? yes. virtually flawless. place went bananas after it was done. and Bobby had a hard time going into the next tune- Satisfaction. the crowd was so pumped for the Dew that we're willing to accept a Bobby Satisfaction after this mind-shredding, and he gets us into it, really into it- extended singing into some extended soloing so it wasn't just like the Stones version- excellent!
setlist had "in the midnight hour" here (and cosmic charlie much earlier in the set) but time restraints caused them to skip it, causing a little confusion on stage, but they all quickly leave....
Phil gives a nice short donor rap, and reminds us all that "good things come to those who wait, right?" And then they kick into Going Down the Road- waaaay past Mill Valley curfew- but who cares? Bobby doesn't want to start singing this song, so they extend the intro a few times through before beginning. excellent version, and then into And We Bid You Goodnight? yes. some timing flaws during the tune, but the girls were holding up the base, and the boys hold onto playing it even during some excellent harmony passages, and extend it waaaay out to a very excellent a capella ending- a perfect cap to a perfect evening!!!!
thanks Furthur!!!!!!
Morning f*ckin' Dew! Finally!
JK owns that song. Looking for the same thing on a little bigger stage at Barton Hall.
Thanks for the Review Boog's...
Always brings it home more for me than a list.

Now if anyone has a flip vid of that Dew, you know we would love to see it
Last night was significantly different, read better, than the other rehearsal I saw at The Throck. Last night was not a 'rehearsal', it was a Show, and I have to say a really, really good one. Boog's recap sums it up nicely. Go if you can, the tenor of these rehearsals changed last night. Mojo
Last night was outrageous. Thorough and spot on review from Boognish. The place was jumping from the Dew to the Satisfaction. Pure uninhibited fun all night and so fortunate to be there. They have to keep this up, finally something to look forward to again!
I have seen John play Morning Dew with DSO a few times, and he nailed it every time. he seems to really get and feel this song. For all you dew lovers out there, i would expect to hear some epic dews in the future.
Dew me!
Last night was a MONSTER show! I saw Sunday and last night.
The thing that the set list doesn't convey is the huge jams in this show. Beginning with the wheel, most tunes came out of what seemed to be long, extended and intense jams that had many hints of the Other One. The Sunday show seemed to be more straight ahead songs with alot of jamming in them but not this type of jamming between them. It was very cool to watch the interplay between the musicians while this was going on. Phil looks to be one very happy bass player here! The jam in Doing That Rag was off the hook, although the vocals were a little tentative. What can be said about the Dew? It was basically perfection!!! I really hope that they decide to release some of these shows, there is so much good music happening here. The band had a very early '70's vibe to my ear last night, not just because of much of the song selection but, because of the intensity and exploratory nature of the jamming. All I can say is WOW, just WOW!
The backup singers are really giving a solid foundation to alot of the vocals. John Russo and Jeff Lane were really off the hook last night. This whole band is smoking.
If I was 20 years younger, I'd be on that east coast tour!
Thanks boognish and jaybee and others for the reviews. Dew me too!
Thursday was fire from the opening note. Phil turned his bass lights on to let us know he was for real. The shows had been starting around 8:20 or so, but they didn't come on until almost 9 this night. Cumberland and Doin That Rag seemed very tight, jammed out, and psychedelic. The Wheel -> No More Do I -> He's Gone was probably the best jamming I saw all week. Seamless segues, and big jams in between verses ended with some sweet vocal stylings at the end of He's Gone - 'nothing's gonna bring him back,' - again complete silence in the room (something you don't hear very often in SF or anywhere else in this scene for that matter).
Built to Last was good, but JK had trouble with the vocals of Peaceful Valley - can't really handle them imo. But it was followed by a thick jam that led into ... probably the musical highlight of the shows I saw ... Morning Dew. This Dew, sung by JK, was as good as it gets - with JK really shining at the end. The place went BANANAS!! And let me just say that I HATE Satisfaction, like more than any other song, but was so amped by the show and the Dew that I was full on into it: "I can't GET NO!!! I can't GET NO!!!" Definitely the most fun I have EVER had with that song. Encore GDTRFB segued into Bid You Goodnight. I had been meandering through the crowd and ending up directly in front of Phil for the ends of these shows. We Bid You Goodnight on the lip of the stage was as peaceful a moment as I can remember - so so blessed. Extended ending with JK and Bob trading lines and the ladies really filling in the spaces.
