Once more, with feeling! Next time it comes around on the guitar, y'all sing real loud!
Red Rover Red Rover
Let the Little Red Button Come Over!!!!
I dont know what i am going to do with myself when this is over? Hitting the refresh button has become a habit.
Did anyone get one yet today?
Nope
Scuffle for a nickel, struggle for a dime
Forget about the past, leave your worries behind
How come the future has to take such a long, long time
red button alert!
Shit, just missed it. Red button is up, tix gone. It's all just a memory now.
I tried the second I posted my above post...red button refresh a million times...gone. Bummer. Jay, we are still happy campers compared to most. Be happy we saw as many as we did! March madness at the Fox?!! Bring it!
Ughhhhh, why does it let me get to buy now, then NADA.
We're all in same boat.
They probably literally had 20 tickets with hundreds wanting them?
As I said last night - what happened to the good ole days of mail order. Early birds almost always got their worm! Ah the blessing and the curse of internet ticket sales!
Because she looked behind her...Fitz, I am IN for tonight channeling Gomorrah for you. It must have been vibes you sent last night
I remember all those (cold!) late nights and brutal early mornings standing on sidewalks outside ticketing agencies back in the late '70's and early-mid '80's. Mail order was cool (especially getting the swanky tix), but I'll take the Internet and the ability to buy tix by credit card any day!
>> Early birds almost always got their worm! Ah the blessing and the curse of internet ticket sales! <<
I got my tickets christams morning and new years day morning...I was an early bird that got the worm.
In the mid/late 80's...were any of you, by chance, the ones sleeping in line with me on Market Street (yes, scary) for Warfield Jerry shows? Sleeping/huddling/freezing in line all night at many of the Oakland New Years shows for a rail spot? I'm glad I've progressed to the internet refresh button and walking in at 7pm to intimate Mill Valley shows!
Hey now Carrie
I usually got my tix for the Warf shows from the box ofc at the Fillmore. They used to pull a stack of a few hundred in advance, so if you were in the first 50 people in line you knew you would always get tix. And yes, I spent many hours waiting around for Mr Willie to hand out priority tix in order to be in the first group to get in at all those Kaiser and Oakland Col shows. So many shows to soothe my soul!
The almighty magic red button of sweetness has hooked me up two days in a row!!!
You just got to believe.
Well you all enjoy this last show....i've been right on the red button when it came up and got
nothing after another 20-30 captcha's...some peeps just click and get....
The only luck I got is Bad Luck!! Sheet is I was in Alaska right now...I'd probably have got a
ticket for tonite. Oh Well..I quess I better start getting my shit togather and go to the Colorado and Portland shows...At least you can buy them (even-sold out)tickets easily. NOT sitting/standing next to your refresh button all day for a number of days and getting sheeet!!
Pete, which Pete are you?
Dawn and Pete? Toluzzi? Other?
Whoever you are...you are a lucky man today!
Have fun!
Carrie- Other Pete. Just started checking out the PZ, so hi all and thanks, I havent had such good luck since...ever!
I had my luck Sunday afternoon getting a ticket for last night. Felt like a one in a million chance. I'm happy to have seen four shows. The pain of losing this one has passed pretty quickly!...Do you think the folks at the door will take a bribe?
Jay...not from you or me. I think Frankie's had enough of us. LOL
WHERE ARE THE TAPES??? Havent seen any of these rehearsals sruface anywhere yet: Did anyone have rigs up @ the Throck? What about last night @ Masonic? Sooooo stoked for Chicago in March... for sure Mr. Charlie 2nite
There has been no taping allowed at these rehearsals, although it does appear the soundman has had recording equipment running.
Glad to hear you got in Jahk2. Hey any chance at all anyone's taping these ya think? I've been dreaming every night about being there would sure like to see just one dream come thru (at least to my ears)
I heard a voice inside my head in the desert wind so dry
I heard a voice tellin' me to flee the very same voice I always believe
No taping allowed at the rehearsals. Sound man has been recording, but I think he's burning the boys each a set of discs for "post rehearsal" study. This tour is going to be smokin! Here's to hoping for a 5, 6, or 7 night run back at home in March!
if they've been recorded, chances are they will find their way out eventually...
i wonder who delivers their pizza? ;}
exactly--The dominoes man will have them
All the years combine, they melt in to a dream, a broken angel sings from a guitar....
Dust off those rusty strings just one more time, gonna make 'em shine
SHINE !!!!
Just a song of Gomorrah, I wonder what they did there
Must've been a bad thing to get shot down for
I wonder how they blew it up or if they burned it down
Get out, get out Mr. Lot and don't you turn around.
Who gave you your orders, someone from the sky
I heard a voice inside my head in the desert wind so dry
I heard a voice tellin' me to flee the very same voice I always believe
Say alot of trouble comin', but it don't have to come to you
I'm telling you so you can tell the rest what you've been through.
But don't you turn around, no, don't look after you
It's not your business how it's done, you're lucky to get through
You're a good upstanding man, a credit to the flock
But if you don't face straight ahead you could not take the shock
Blew the city off the man, left nothing there but fire
The wife of Lot got turned to salt, because she looked behind her.
First time in the Masonic...WOW I've seen living rooms bigger than this...going to try and keep set list up to date for you all
Well I married me a wife,
she's been trouble all my life
Run me out in the cold rain and snow, rain and snow
Run me out in the cold rain and snow
Well, she went up to her room
Where she sang a faithful tune...
Y'all enjoy the sounds this eve. Wish I could say I was "in" from the cold rain and snow, but alas a Thursday miracle will have to do...
All the best and looking forward to the set-list!
Still waiting for the boys to hit stage
still waiting?
I wonder how they blew it up or if they burned it down
Get out, get out Mr. Lot and don't you turn around.
Because she looked behind her...
Hard to Handle (bw)
cool.... HTH was on my 'list of 3'!
Ashes to Glass (bw), Hurricaine (jk)
You all rock!!!!
OK.. Still wishing...
I heard a voice inside my head in the desert wind so dry
I heard a voice tellin' me to flee the very same voice I always believe
Say alot of trouble comin', but it don't have to come to you
I'm telling you so you can tell the rest what you've been through.
Phil's new song into Sugar Mags
New JK song ??? They don't know you, just a nobody girl, say if you follow your heart honey your just being lost, they don't know you anyway
Best I can do with lyrics...help?
Sounds like it may be a Ryan Adam's song: "Nobody Girl."
It's the last song on his album "Gold" if I recall correctly.
I think that it would be "Nobody Girl" by Ryan Adams...
Into china doll..by the way that nobody girl song was best of the night...ripping jam at end
Birdsong (pl!)
Birdsong into other one!!! (Finally, these songs connect. Brilliant) bomb!!!!!
Awesome to see them doing so many Ryan Adams covers! I'd love to see them do the rock version of "September" at some point.
Terrapin (jk)...still reeling from other one phil bombs..all time best other one wow
Killer terrapin!!! End of set
>>>all time best other one wow
guess you never saw jerry...
I saw Jerry 243 times...I know a good other one vs. A lame onem
so are you saying this one was better than anyone you ever saw with jerry?
All other ones are good...did this top the merriweather 85 show I saw? No, b ut phil finally dropped 4 bombs which is newsworthy. Beware east coasters the cold blooded Dead jams are coming your way watch out
k, that makes more sense than "all time best". thanks for the clarification...
Just home from a great, great show with beautiful people at a fine venue in a lovely little town. Thanks to the band for a real treat they've given us over the last 2 weeks.
Brett...nice to meet you and rap during the evening.
They sure ended this run with a finely played sequence...Sugar Mags through Terrapin was greatgreatgreat. China Doll had everyone in rapture...JK pulling Bob and Phil back in for one more set of LA's at the end. I've always liked the lyrics for Ashes and Glass too...nice to hear Furthur do this one.
Fun closing note...I've never been much of a guitar pick guy, but tonight I proudly added one of Phil's picks (got it at the end...perhaps from Parish?) to the Billy Zoom pick I got 2 weeks ago at Slim's. 2010..year of pick collecting?
Enjoy the tour all...it will be great!
By the way...I love all the Gomorrah love here...it has always been one of my favorites and I just learned how to play it on piano.
She did, apparently, look behind her...and she saw me dancing
Am I missing something here? - does anyone have a full show list?
What a way to end this run - China Doll > Bird Song > The Other One > Terrapin Station. It flowed like they had been rehearsing for a while.
Thank you Furthur, Fillmore security staff, and thanks for all the givers tonight who brought gifts, food, flowers, and their best. Thanks to Vasco's for staying open! Faggedaboutit...
hard to handle
ashes & glass
hurricaine
welcome to the dance
sugar magnolia
nobody girl
china doll
bird song
the other one
lady with a fan
terrapin station
There ya go, as written on the bands setlist....
ThanQ
What a run! I feel blessed to have seen 8 shows in 14 days. Thanks to the band and all you zoners for making this the best 2 weeks of music in the bay area since Jerry left the building!
WOW!!! This band (allowing for the potential of getting the Devils back in the mix) is IT! JK's voice doesn't sound like Garcia on a good night in 1993 yet, but remember that JG wasn't a master vocalist until he had more than a touch of grey in his beard - it took him awhile to find his voice too. Howeva... the PLAYIN is what it is all about and JK can play baby - obviously inspiring phil and bobby to reconsider standard setlists/placement and finally letting bobby play some fucking bob weir rythym guitar again that has been missing since 1995!
the only thing missing was Deal
Parish was there? Has he jumped off the Moonalice bus now? It would be cool to see him back with the band next month.
What's the deal with the Deal?
(((((Barton Hall)))))
good review creston...nice meeting you, hope the heel heals soon! see ya next time around!
Ted...I believe I was wrong about the guy I identified as Parish. Sharing stories with a friend this morning and he described the guy I saw but said he is not Steve Parish.
Rob it was nice meeting you and hanging out with Frank Sinatra and Ro and having dinner at Vasco's after the show,I was still shrooming, and Grateful Dead music playing the minute we walked in the door really helped,as did the blackened red snapper and french bread and mashed potatoes and broccoli and chocolate lava cake and vanilla ice cream and strawberries and.........Went to buy some batteries for my portable about a few minutes from my hotel in Tamalpias Valley, and the AM/PM look like it had been robbed or someone killed,at least eight police cars there and police cars on the road to Stinson Beach and Tennessee Valley Road, looks like they were looking for someone, kind of spooky,I hope everyone is okay. Went back to Chevron on Seminary to get gasoline and D batteries, turns out my portable takes C batteries, but the DVD player with 42 inch flatscreen played Govt. Mule late into the night, wish I would have figured that out earlier,DUH!!!!!!!! Eddieboy saying over and out, thanks for two NYE shows and 6 rehearsel shows,we love you FURTHUR BAND!!!!!!! PS The show as killer,I got smart and got a seat because I am disabled,no more standing in front of John all night like on 1/11/2010! Also felt a little more rested last night,BruceEdwardWeber,FUGGETABOUTIT!!!!!!!
Was the birdsong played in traditional style? I keep hoping they will decide to play it in the GD fashion. I really miss those kinds of birdsongs. It is one of the songs that seems to have suffered from the whole 'we must play it different' thing.
anyone catch what Bob said at the end last night? too noisy where I was
I had wonderful dreams about the Mason's Chicken at Vasco's. what a treat after the show. mmmmmm........and hanging out with everyone after the show was very cool. My wife Anna really enjoyed meeting everyone. She just started her last semester of law school this week and she really needed this night. she even scored a set list and a Phil pick. what a wonderful night.
Furthur? you guys rock! what else can be said that hasn't already been spoken here.
Philzone? HELL YEAH!!!!! I echo what's been said. Thank you for keeping us all in the loop. I made it to 5 shows and I would have been damn happy to have gotten just 1.
and to all you crazies who did them all? awesome!
I think Bob said something about "leaving the place clean" or something about eating chicken up front.
hey man, wats the deal with no terrapin flyer???
they're starting to do all these dog tunes and ratdog's flyer was my favorite part of their shows. I was hopin' for one this spring with billy and mick, but no dice. I think furthur would blow the roof with some flyer... and it would certainly be amazing to hear the terrapin saga in full!
Toreup: at the very end Bobby asked us to keep Mill Valley clean so we could come back.
It sure would be great to have a multi-date Fillmore run sometime soon!
I need to echo the sentiments of Eddieboy, Desertdan and others - the best part of all this, as it always is for me, is hanging with great friends, making new ones, and ZONERS all over the place.
Let's do it again real soon, shall we?
Too much new stuff
Not diggin the ratdog tunes either...The "classic" Dead songs sounded pretty good tho
PUFfff Milf Valley sucks !
Fairfax is not that far away for a millioniare like Bobby or Phil to drive to
or Nicasio
Wino, you're starting to sound like 2DankDan!
Mill Valley was a kind & cool host. Everyone I met or dealt with couldn't have been nicer.
The Throckmorton was a great venue and both places tolerated all our various debaucheries with patience and a smile. No stress or attitude. None.
I'm looking forward to seeing more shows at the Throck, and am hoping that our own little Furthur band comes back there again.
And again.
Way to tell it like it was lance, love Eddieboy! PS Positive vibes everywhere,LET THERE BE SONGS TO FILL THE AIR!!!!!!
So, has anyone figured out what could have been the hottest night(s) of this stupendous 10 night run in Mill Valley? Of the folks that were there, what night would you have picked to go into the gem box?
So far, I would have to say the following:
Best in Show: Saturday - 01-09-10 - Highlights: Death Don't Have No Mercy
Uncle Johns Band
Pride of Pride of Cucamonga
The Encore: DarkStar>JAM>Let It Grow>Dark Star. Attics of my life.
Unstoppable. The best show in my opinion, which it is, only an opinion. Curious as to what other feedback there may be. Johnny if you there, this is Scrappy. Curious as to your take on it, considering you got into about 75% of the Mill Valley shows. Thanks folks.
Spring tour is right around the corner. Barely enough time to recover from this last marathon. See you in P-Town ,and SF. Happy New Years Folks!!
I saw 9 of the 10 post-NYE "rehearsals"; only missed the Tuesday show on the 5th, which many have said was a topper, with ALLOT of praise for the Comes A Time.
For me, the best has to be Monday the 11th back at the tiny Masonic - amazing REAL psychedelic jamming, with Caution being maybe the best thing I heard from anything I saw, including the two shows before NYE, which were both great as well.
A VERY close 2nd would be the Saturday show - the Dark Star/Let It Grow/Dark Star/Attics was truly the real deal in that little room, they took us up and around the moon there, and Uncle John's Band was great too; a very special night.
A close 3rd would be Thursday the 7th - Phil showing up very late ramped up the energy and the band tweeked the set list to reward our patience. Everything from the Cumberland opener was great, but the long-awaited Morning Dew didn't disappoint.
I thought Sunday the 3rd was really good too, but got lost a bit in the nine shows following. Stella Blue was brilliantly played.
(This topic might have worked better as a thread in Other Stuff, I don't think many are looking here now, but thanks for letting me re-live it a bit)
