Looking forward to my first show in VA. Whole family in tow, heading over Tuesday from Shenandoah NP.
i'll be there also, within the gold circle.
have fun!
OK. This venue is bizarre. We drove into the business park and started looking around. Mrs, Sun Ra points out a stage sitting on a small grassy area with a stage. I laughed because it looked like something you would see in a small town park for an evening concert series. Well, of course she was right. You could just park your car on the business park and have a nice seat for free!
This should be fun!
We'll be in the 'golden circle', too. Wonder if that's anything like the golden triangle.
I'll be wearing my prized black Taoecat Philzone Reddy shirt(yeah, I'm the person who bought one)!
I think there may be only a few hundred at this show?!

I heard that New Orleans funk riff/tease during Shakedown. Siunded like a Neville Bros or Funky Meters! I really dug that. Very cool and Phil was laughing and smiling all show long.
Great show, great weather. And a big bright moon all night long.
Fantastic show, it looks like the boys have been practicing.Jackie is looking more comfortable and Larry took 90% of the leads and did it well, very well.Molitz was solid, Molo is always great and Phil looked happy and healthy and sounded great.
There were 4 or 5 songs that were superb, i mean crushing good, Loose Lucy, the Mountains of the Moon into Terrapin inspiration was earth shattering tasty(to go with the full moon), then the Goin Down The Road Feelin Bad was nothing less than outstanding....The whole show was solid but for me those 4 songs they absolutly nailed, smokin perfect. And i always love the Box.
And that place was packed.
Foghorne, agreed with all ya said there but I have to toss in Althea as far as the tunes that stood out... Phil sang it as well as he could and Larry's playing to me was just out of this world, a real step up from his normally already fantastic stuff. That was a highlight. A solid show throughout, lacking perhaps that one big moment of liftoff, but a solid front to back show. If this is the worst I see this summer I'm gonna be a happy guy!
After seeing them in Chicago and reading the latest reviews, I must say this just might be the best Phil and Friends have ever sounded. They are one hot band right now. Not to be missed. Seriously.
Hey Fog....
I'm sorry I missed you at such an amazing and fun-filled show!
I met Liberty for the first time....as I was "floating" around through the audience my friend turns to me and says, "Hey this chick in front of me is saying to folks that pass by her....Are you a "Zoner"?" I immediately turned to her, and the rest is history. We had a GREAT time....and I met her husband and kids as well.
She mentioned that you were going to be there and I looked for you....but like you said, the place was packed, and the show "SMOKIN"!
I had SUCH a good time, and now my blood has the taste of good ole Dead music in it again. I went to my first show of the year last Friday June 13th which was Dickie Betts & Great Southern....down at a new venue in downtown Richmond called "The National Theatre". It was also a fantastic evening and great show.
I'm telling you getting out and going to these shows is actually VERY therapuetic, and healing. I feel younger, more enthuastic, and all around just much better after "rockin" out and jamming through and evening with Phil & Phriends!
Meeting a new/ but in a way old "Zoner" friend made the evening that much better. Both of us had heard of each other.....although I usually hang at the Hep-C site...and she hangs at "The Other Stuff" site. Hey, were all one big Phamily......RIGHT? It was funny, when I told her I first came on to the PhilZone in Sept. 2001, and she said she registered right around the same time.... or at least in 2001.
Anyway......glad all who went had a blast, and Fog, the next time your coming into Richmond, please e-mail me my friend. You could have "boogied" up there with us for a while and participated with us with a "phatty" or two I brought along.......
Peace Always,
Martin
