and the next....just want to keep reviews uniform, im bored
I know Ratdog played Utica once (at the Stanley) during the past couple of years, but anyone know if Phil and Friends ever played in Utica ? The Grateful Dead played 2 consecutive nights at the Utica Aud in '73 (I think they were the 1st band to ever sell out the Aud) they played once in '79 and last time was in '81...
please let me know if there is a known live stream of the utica auditorium show
What do you think ? Bobby should shave ,trim or nothing at all??
I think a trim and some different pants would go a long way . Plus the stage could use more color . its starting to look kind of old up there if you know what i mean.
Guys he is what it looked like on the openning of the tour in Miami. This is a must see.

Mark, maybe you should go see Kiss or how about Alice cooper? Or your just so board with yourself you have to find some small amount of negativity. Furthur is by far the best band I've seen in over 20 years. Peace and love to all!
we are so blessed to be able to see any of these guys play anything at all .Come on! rock stars at 70 ..IEEEEEEEEEEE .
also the complaint department closed down 15 years ago !!
Please enjoy that being alive is great thing and being alive inside one of these venues during a dead show is even better . so remember there might not be toooo much more of this so enjoy every minute you can. and leave space for others to HAVE FUN!
Here here! Smilin' ear to ear - Cya in front of the sound board tonight.

how 'bout a
Help>
Slip>
Franklins sando second set tonight? or any night? let it happen. and toss in a dash of that UBC>Dew action from Cornell in between - that was a tour highlight to these ears so far, and is worth a repeat. Also LOVE IT when they segue out of Help>Slip into something besides FT - really opens up the next tune (ala H>S>Cassidy from 1/11), also gonna play it 2nite cuz there has only one H>S>FT so far on this tour, although they did close Miami 1st set with FT as well
the 2/13 Fairfax H>S>F is fucking awesome BTW
I am thinking an upstate Passenger or Comes a Time. I just awoke from my power nap and will be on the road by 3. See ya there
You guys have fun tonight, wish I coulda stayed on tour longer... oh well they tell me that this degree I am chasing will mater one day. we'll see. Still doesn't make up for missing these shows. Thanks Tapers and Uploaders. You guys are the sole reason I'm even into this whole "grateful Dead" thing. And what a beautiful and meaningful thing it is. I may not have been around since the hay-day or ever seen Jerry, but this music is special to me. Ya'll have fun!
WTF is up with the line to get in

Bob Hoffman, looking forward to your review. Hope you and your boys had a great time. Set lists look like y'all got dosed BIG TIME tonight. Glad you got IT last night; it was glorious.
If thry knew they were going to do Sat. nite they should have close the set with it THEN done wbygn, Right?
I thimk they got the set closer and the encore backwards is what I mean to say
review anyone? Last nights second and tonites first =perfect
WTF encore put everyone to sleep?
Midnight Hour has been played twice already. Take that one off your list of not played yet.
We have what we call a "DeadThread" on Gmail, where we keep in touch, pretty much on a daily basis to discuss whatever is going on... This was an insert from tonight, which really kind of captures it all... Enjoy!
*************************************************
The Fellas are on a roll! I can't think of a year in such short order where practically everyone is buzzing! I saw a post from a Zoner today who never saw Jer, and wished he was old enough to have done so.. But it didn't matter anymore to him because he saw last night's show and was completely blown away. Does he throw an old 76 show on the way home? Of course and he loves it!
This musical experience is an experiment, and has been since they invented it. Every band member from GD have all acknowledged that as fact. Many of the soldiers have fallen. Some great, very great, including the Captain whose word would often end the discussion with a question. "so if we did this, then what would happen with that?" We've also had some who have added to the experience in a very big way, but with too short of a time. Pig and Brent come to mind.
The fact that these people can still inspire the youth is amazing to me! We're all older and have seen this beautiful art spin around and around for 20+ years. We understand the comings and the goings, the best and the worst, the good runs and the not so good runs... Hey, a couple of bad shows. But nobody does MUSIC quite like this... And WE ALL KNOW THAT because we've been there, high and low. Lots of shows with lots of stories along with that circus who has traveled around for years.
I'm proud to be part of that circus and I know you all are as well. In many ways it kinda defines us, yet we don't have to wave the flag everyday, because the flag is waving us...
In reality, this stuff hasn't changed since the first days of Warlocks to the current day of Furthur.... Same idea, same concept, some new ideas built within that same ol' thang... The Experiment.
oh i love all this happiness !!
keep on truckin boys !!!! and girls !!!
boyz banged it out for the "miracle everywhere" show. some things never change
now radio city and ac will be "close to the vest".
that was a load tonight
Wow. Holy freaking balls out, WOW!
That was fun as hell, and I even got felt up on the way in.
This band does not know close to the vest.
Cornell after VA proved that.
These guys bring it every show.
The only faults that can be found are your personal choice of setlists, that, and the fact that Bobby doesn't let John sing the full Terrapin, Jed or Ramble on Rose.
Hi folks. I just got in and I still got the smile. IT happened again, still, continued. They really bring it. I'm beat; and will write more observations tomorrow. GO SEE THIS BAND...they be good. One thing I must shrare; My 16 and 18 year olds were with me dancing, most songs both sets.. My 18 yr old Ty was dancing next to me during We Bid You Good Night. During the line "wontcha' lay your head upon you Savior's chest; my boy without missing a step or a beat layed his hand on my chest.....Each time, then at an appropriet moment grabbed me, hugged me and told me he loved me....well folks, it gets no better...I'll check in tomorrow; great show, I'll maks some comments tomorrow. Choking back tears of joy at the moment/still. Rest assured. These guys are waay good..go...enjoy...dance. I'll say hey later...
Peace, Hoff
>>>we are so blessed to be able to see any of these guys play anything at all .Come on! rock stars at 70 ..IEEEEEEEEEEE<<<
Rock stars at 70?!
Who, exactly, is 70?
Phil Lesh...69
Bob Weir....62
Jay Lane...45
Jeff Chimenti...41
John Kadlecik..40
Joe Russo...43
Sunshine Garcia Becker...37
Zoe Elllis..Not siure but I'd hazard a guess she's not 70.
Get your head out of the sky and speak intelligently.
As of the end of tonights show ..NOBODY, not one person in that Band, is 70 years old.
Nor will ANYBODY be 70 by Phil's Birthday show, on March 12th.
Not one of them.
Right on Hoff, well i made it home in less than 2 1/2 hours, 170 miles and the short version is this was the show of the tour from start to finish, ok Schoolgirl was not my best choice to open the show, but it was wicked tight and grooved after that it was to the moon Alice!
Love Promised Land and Bobby was way into it and was the perfect "yes we have driven all over the NE for the last week" song
It was clear by this point that JK was much more high energy than in Manchester.
Follow this with a early set Cumberland that was smokin' and the party was jumping big time.JK and Jeff laid down some wicked solos and Phil, OMG he was freakin' bringing it!
Then JK shares Ramble on Rose and teh sing-a- along started. Very well done and JK solo was excellent. Then we get a thrilling Foolish Heart with the band soaring and Phil was wicked during this one. I was in heaven
Then to go into Rueben & Cherise? Yeah baby it was getting better. I think they are still working on this one, but it was better than the one I listened to from The Throck so again well done. The guys at the Wharf Rat tabled tipped me off about what they sound check so when JK started teasing Dear Prudence, I wa all over it. Most folks did not see it coming.
It was a great break out, alittle different arrangement than JGB, and Bob sang it and he did fairly well. I will have to listen to the board again more closely.
So wow 3 heavy hard to play Jerry tunes in a row, you have to give it up for the band to taking risks, in this show tonight it paid handsomely.
They stared early so it was only like 8:35 by then. The vibe inside was very friendly, the most of the three shows I have seen and everyone was cool.
Set two was a masterpiece from start to finish. Ok if you went to Ithaca there were a few repeats, but with repeats played like this who would even think of complaining. They begin the set opposite of Ithaca and with a funky China Cat, that was amazing, just last last Sunday and then to go into the Wheel?
Yeah baby and it is official PHIL DROPPED A BOMB during it, I wont give it away where it occurs but enjoy it.
This version was more traditional in tempo which I prefer but they still did that sweet vocal harmony at the end. It was an outstanding version which everyone loved. Then they started to jam out of it and after a minute or so Phil switches teh key and
BAM!
I Know You Rider and it will be hard to say which one was better but this one was stunning! Jeff had an amazing solo with JK playing some swinging chords and then he tears into his solo.
Wow!!!
I will note that I think Phil likes this new formula. Do a Ryan Adams song followed by Unbroken Chain and then dropped Jerry gem.
Again, as like in Ithaca, this was magic.
The Magnolia Mountain was beautiful, much better than Asheville, and it safe to say that this version may be better than the recent ones the Cardinal played last year.
The harmonies by the girls were perfect and JK is really owning this song. It was the song that was in my head after the show, even more than Comes A Time.
I know what am I saying????
This UC was flawless and Jeff played the baby grand so it had a totally different feel, than Ithaca, and the band raged on it. Man this may be "the" song of this new band. The ending was poetic and sparkled like a diamond and then to drop into Come a Time?
It blew me away but I knew it was coming
If I hear Stella Blue in Mohegan I will be a very happy tour head.
Wow I was loving this, as was everyone around me.It was one of those moments that the faithful really acknowledged how special it was.
It was a spectacular version and JK was simply perfect on it.Phil was also quite moving on this as well. As a side note the entire band was on a higher level tonight.
" Got to make it some how, on the dreams you still believe"
Then to raged into GDTDFB? Yeh ha!!!!!!
This version smoked the one they played back in December, this was a full throttle version and again the entire band knocked it out of the park.
Follow this with a super Touch of Grey, reminiscent circa 1982, and it was a powerfully ending to a maybe the best set of the tour.
To confirm that fact they immediately go into We Bid You Goodnite, which was flawless and full of conviction and emotion;the harmonies were superb.
Jeff was so moved he stood up after they finished and acknowledged the rest of the band for a job super well done.
They blew the door wide open with a KILLER Saturday night and even raved it up one more time after ending it.
That was pretty cool and this amazing show was in the bag.
One other side note this was also the first show I experienced black ice on Shakedown, I hope no one bought it.
I for one have not had this much fun in a long time.
Thanks to this ever increasing amazing band and all those Furthur Freaks and I haven't seen this many people dancing the whole tour as well.
See ya at Mohegan
First set
Lucky tour head's momento
OK Keyshawnsucks.
Thanks for keeping it REAL.

Boo Hiss that I'm probably not going to get these at Radio City. Happy to be alive and happy this is happening in the world but....
good morning heads. If anyone is there, last night's shoe is now streaming at http://bit.ly/cU7LcH courtesy of Davidaron at Deadvids.
show. wouldn't want my shoe in a stream this time of year.
What a gem of a show they played for little old Utica !
listening to Cumberland now. Sweet.
Oh yeah and the Satisfaction was a hoot, classic BW rap and it was rockin'!
One more thing Phil was also dropping some mini bombs in IKYR as well. Will listen to the board for breakfast and share any other cool details.
I did meet one zoner Dave, and his gf Megan, very nice peps
It was awful getting in these people had it completely ass backwards, once you were inside it was very cool and no hassles whats son ever.
This show had the most cigarette smokers, it was bad at points, I have seen it a long time. I mean its the 21st century why is a new generation starting this? Ok off my soap box.
The sound started off alittle boomy with Phil in Schoolgirl but then it became perfect. Those Meyers are a freakin' joy to behold!
Keys are you frustrated you missed another KILLER show? ;) Don't worry you trip the well this this coming Friday will be a grand one, it is in the stars.
As aways "thank you tapers"

We Bid You Good nite
The fact that these people can still inspire the youth is amazing to me! We're all older and have seen this beautiful art spin around and around for 20+ years. >>>>>>
so true im 45 (on the bus for 30 years) and i met these 17 year olds at the Funhouse before the 2-15 Stabler show, they were telling me this Further and GD things (Ratdog, p&f) are so unique, they see alot of bands but were telling me that there is nothing else like it out there, a real family, seeing the same people on tour, making friends, low negativity, new setlists, dyes and glass, a real shakedown scene etc....
it was great seeing cool young kids really liking it, so funny they thought i was this cool OLD guy, i guess its true....their first show was Ratdog 2008, pass the tortch brothers and sisters....
and phil is almost 70, so lighten up Key
To all longtime deadheads like me (36 years)-The Mothership is back again-Plug In! To all the new post Jerry heads-Welcome to the Bus Sisters and Brothers! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise-This is 100 percent real Grateful Dead-Feel the music and dance!!!
Ted, do you have anymore photos you can post? I didn't bring the camera in...and thanks for the ones above!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPM_AfdrnCA
I really couldn't add much to what Ted says in his review. To see 3 show in a week and walk away after seeing all 3, being there, feeling it, dancing, laughing, tearing up big time at times, just happy and giggleing, after all 3 shows within a week. I'm not sure I've ever had that happen in my many, many, many post and or Jerry era period. I could always find somethiing to bitch about.....I've got nothing on the negative end. Either I'm old and Grateful or this incarnation has everything I'd been seeking for all these 30 some years. This ball of gue sticks together.
Having my boys with me last night is the topper, to see each of them dancing in their own space doing their own thing, with no 16 or 18 yr old reservations (whats Dad gonna T=think). They just step right into the whole scene. To have Ty (18)touch my chest a number of times during We Bid You Goodnight, then hug and say he Loves me...beyond words. My 16 (Dylan) year old grabed me during Dear Prudence and said, "this is it! huh?", an eye to eye contact, a nod and a smile and he goes on to say, "thanks dad,..Love Ya"...It's come full circle for this Head.
What a great show, I said I can find no negatives; ahhh, I'm not sure I like what they did to Schoolgirl, but what they do is played well. Promised Land and Cumberland were strong as hell...From there on out to the end of the first set was just a big bobbing head fest of happy dancing young and old dead heads. Ramble On,Foolish Heart, Rueben, Prudence, Satisfation, ahhh, um, did they play the good....aaa yea! and then some. I can't explain what they're doing. The playing, interplay, changes, grooves, backbeats and the timing is spot on for what they're doing. They're a Band Beyond Description.. Are we done talking about JK, he's earned his spot in GD history.
Set II
China, Wheel, Rider, just plopped out of the sky, very funky at times and bound to cover just a little more ground..I thought I heard a Masons Children tease out of the Wheel into Rider.. Magnolia Mtn, is nice and I think will become a JK standard down the road. Unbroken was sureal as always and a repeat in my 3 shows, but there was nothing repeat about it, played fairly different than that of Barton Hall. JK killed; not a good word; JK soared on Comes a Time, excellent, nobody seemed to be in a rush to get through that piece. It was spot on... The next couple cranked up the dance machine again and due to personal circustance I will never forget the WBYGN. My oldest boy touched my heart during the 2nd set and my youngest does the same in the 1st; at similar slots in the song line up and on songs that both mean so much to me. Dam, I am truly blessed, I'll never doubt again if I've done good by them. They told me last night... I have. If you havn't seen these guys play together yet, and you like music, you might want to check them out.
Hmmm how to land more time and tickets while these dudes are still tooling around here.
Peace
Hoff
I wasn't at Utica but, amen Hoffman with regard to what this band is doing!
I was at Utica and Hoff is spot on. First show was in SF in 77 so that makes this old fart one from the mid 2nd generation of DeadHeadom and this show had everything I have always looked/hoped for from a Dead show. What a fine time. Just LOVE the alchemy of this incarnation. Nice balance of new and old experience.Has that same "open-ears" playing that I witnessed on the first Phil/Q shows in 00 only with more of the Jerry laconic organic flow to the music.
Just wish I could see more shows from this tour.
Reddy - thanks for the youtube video !
Hoff - thanks for sharing..
I was at the show too and it was great...
With all due respect to ALL the tapers, I downloaded this version first. http://bt.etree.org/download.php/532806/furthur201 0-02-20.sunboy.flac16.torrent (SKM-140's)
Then I saw Tony Suraci's version. His MSG show was quite good so I checked his out. AKG 463's. I like it better than the SKM 140's version. http://bt.etree.org/download.php/532813/furthur201 0-02-20.suraci.akg.flac16.torrent
Haven't heard any others.
THANK YOU to all the tapers for their hard work and quick downloads. Good karma to you all!
Reddy I enjoyed your flip video, I have one too but was worried about bring it. Maybe next Friday. I am glad you like the photos.
