Many of us will have a week off and this one will be our swan song for the tour.
We will be fired up!
It should be a grand time. Phil's show back in '07 was quite memorable.
Does anyone remember the crazy howlin' we all did at that great mural outside the arena after that show?
yes, our swan song for the tour. Amhearst was a beauty. As I remenisce through the ages I would like to doll forth some smippets of goodwill and memoirs of days gone by. I wont say finer days gone by, althogh many might want to interject in that regard. We all miss Jerry so much and I can't help but think of what drove me to Humboldt state university in 1991--it was Jerry. I could have gone to other colleges in the north east close to my home in CT, but found the allure of the 60's and the california dead scene far too compelling. I was a good kid who experimented with many wonderful, expansive alternatives, but also managed to be the captain of my local football team in highschool. Life was a balancing act until the dead tipped thew scales; I was off to northern cal where I "lost my boots in transit." Halloween 91 was a 4 day run culminating into the morbid Bill Graham gathering in Golden Gate Park (check out some utube of 11/3/91 if oyu haven't already). After Oakland 10/91 there was expo, shorleine, expo, more shoreline, then oakland, Arziona for the first Here Comes Sunshine in 17 years and many more road trips to come. Life was a cadillac, a van, a dirt bike and a truck. We made our way form the shjows to Arcata, Ca and back and paraded around the west like we owned the place. We were good folks, but ones with sorted ideas of how government should be, who the president shuuld be, and who should vote yes or no on what proposition. We ate tofu, soy milk, drank red wine and made creative meals with cous cous as the northwestern rain pelted the victorian turit. We planned our lives for Jerry and the band and always came prepared. WE came happy and proud and never lost touch with the goodness that surounds us all. Look for that in every sparkling note. As the days wore on and school came to a close and the reality of life's onward progresson rang forth, I "graduated" and to the proud Heart of Ken Kesey, I did so with flying colors. So I moved to NYC after Jerry died and traded in my tie dye for a shirt and tie and got a money gribbing fifth avenue corporate gig. But it never ended and in those immortal words of Ken Kesey on Halloween night, "we aint finished." I will continue to seak out the spirit of the grateful dead and the spirit of the misic that survives in every note. Now, I have seen phil and Bob and everyone else more than I saw Jerry. But, "we aint finished." I am a father and a coahc and a husband to be, but "we aint finished". I am a suit wearing corporate pharma guy but "we aint finished". I hold my heart to the grind stone and look to the lord for guidance every day..."we aint finished". Keep going to the shows an dlet that tour keep coming around and always thank the lord for hwat we have--never ask for more--be thankfull.."we aint finished."
Right on Crazy Fingers!
This tour has been quite special and I feel very blessed to be a part of it and " we ain't finished" yet.
See you all on the bright side of the road and keep on keeping on brothers and sisters.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAlhv-sOPzg
Hey crazy... didn't kesey say "We ain't many?" rather than "we ain't finished?" That's what I always picked up on... "in any given situation there will be more DUMB people than SMART people, and we ain't many!"... ??
jackohearts...right on tht you were there. One of my favorite shows of all time. I am quite sure he said "we aint finished" I will have ot scour deadbase or some other source for the words. I am sure someone accounted for them. And recall "the sign on the hill in oregon that points in al driections so you can always find your way... and when you guys played Brokedown palace I thought Shit! this is the greatful dead telling me about my son! Its a s good as it gets, we aint finished" But, ah yes, the famous poem by EE cummings sandwhiched between a raging dark star that came out of a scarlet>fire, truckin spoonful that goes,
"Buffalo Bill's

Wow that is wild Steve
thanks
crazy fingers
thanks *so* *much* for sharing your tale and memories~
the zone- more specifically other stuff- has degraded to the point that it is not a positive experience for me anymore... but i lurk in the reviews, looking for the non-critical thoughts of fellow show go-ers.
while everyone naturally has thoughts on the performance of the night, the experience of enjoying and being present for a show goes so far beyond the music played that night itself...
yet it is for posts like yours that i return, seeking... one that very clearly communicates your love for the music, and more importantly the Spirit of the Music, which is what i am so organically tuned into
those that seek such experiences, will surely find them. an open heart and mind, overlayed with unconditional love for the Spirit of Music, will continue to deliver joy and happiness forever. the players and the tunes change as the years go by...
but the magic and power of music IS there, has ALWAYS been there, and will surely CONTINUE to be there long after my road here is done
may the magic find all of you, at mohegan or whereever else you find yourself in the presence of music played with love and devotion~

Hey zone deaf, those pics were great from the other night. Thanks a bunch. Did you sense that they were going to do the dew to close? If you look at the blog sequence I called it moments before it was listed (lucky guess) Just felt it would be cool. Thought MAYBE they would do a two song encore though with one song being mountains. Maybe tonite. If you're going have a blast!!

Nice! psyched on the classic pairing
Crazy and others...thanks for busting out the reference to that magical Halloween. I was there as well. Years later, after Jerry's passing, I was in Ann Arbor. Kesey was in town when they were driving the Furthur replica to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was at the Borders book store doing a signing. I went in early and found him alone at a table. I went straight up and said hello, mentioned I went to school in Corvallis and had tried to meet him at the farm but never succeeded. He was gracious so we chatted for a few. I told him what a profound impact he had on me at a special Halloween night. Right away his eye's lit up and he exclaimed "Jerry knew that poem! Really, he did"....he went on to tell me he was backstage trying to figure out what to say and Jerry encourage him to recite the poem. Thinking back on it with the Dark Star whirling and Kesey stepping out, I had to clear my eyes (and my mind) to make sense of it. It was a truly extrodinary evening full of love and anger at Bill's passing. It still brings shivers to my back when I play it....wow.
I smell Bobby's beard... It smells like...

Bobby kills all the momentum with SOTM again..Besides that looks very solid
Personally... I think Bobby is at the level where that beard is a good look... I also love his new capri pants and birkenstocks 24/7.. that is just bad ass. Equivalent to pink tank top and cut jean short shorts from years ago...
It's just hair. Have you told your wife/ girlfriend that as you see that mess... Bobby's facial pubes disturb me. Be Bob, not Bob Garcia.
Bring back the nutters Bob!
Bob is Bob... Gotta love it.
Other One (v2) > The Eleven
i'm a old hippie, i don't get too caught up on how people look, i might laugh when he looks like yosemite sam, but it doesnt bother me. let your freak flag fly Bob. I am in favor of showering (at least twice every tour!) but agree shaving is a royal pain. let it grow.

I really enjoyed this show and the song selection!
So can anyone tell me which bass Phil played tonite?
Spike,
I'm sure it was his Ritter 6-string with the light-up frets! That is a pretty bad-ass sounding bass he has there... No doubt about it.
Same as RCMH, (the Modulus?) Definitely not the Ritter.
Lights: no killer backdrop like RCMH. Just the lights on a white background. Still cool but pales by comparison.

Tennessee Jed, I thought everything was great through the Jed.
Memphis Blues > Train wreck AGAIN. Imploded into some wierd reggae shit. Weird and sucky. Great tune if I recall some GD versions correctly. Far preferrable to Masterpiece and the one that shall not be named (QJ...eeeeck)
Loser, appropros and well received. Played well.
Pride of Cucamonga, They seemed to have intentionally drawn the blues section out longer than ususal. Seemed that way to me but not sure.
El Paso, Bobby futzed it all up. Not singing the lines when he's supposed to (not rhythmically, although he often does that now adays, but just missing the entrance and waiting "until it comes around again on the guitar" if you get my Alice's Restaurant reference.
Foolish Hart > Nice. Strong John solo
Women Are Smarter Seemed like it never gelled rhythmically towards the start. I didn't stay for the end of it as I needed to hit the John and get in the good beer line before it got too long. (not a usual thing for me you understand, but I felt like a brew tonight).

SOTM Well done by Bobby. No complaints from me that John didn't do it.
Other One (v2)Cool
The Eleven not 100%
Sug Mag Tired old folks forgot how they're supposed to behave during a hot Sugar Magnolia so it wasn't so hot. This is the audience participation part of the show, folks. Oh wait, the hearing aids aren't turned up. THIS IS THE AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION PART OF THE SHOW, FOLKS. Sorry, I'm bad. Just my usual tirade about the music requiring the audience to bring it to it's peak potential and the audience being content to watch instead of participate. It's not just age and apathy. I think some of it is lost knowledge about channelling energy and stuff like that.
E. US Blues About as unenthusiastic an audience response as you could possibley imagine. I don't know why...predictable? people think John would sing it better than Bobby? I don't know. I just got an "oh well, tomorrow's another show" vibe on this. I could be totally wrong.
OK, that's my 2cents following my 3 hr drive home after my 2 hours of gambling. Nighty Night, I mean good morning. See you in Atlantic City.
thx for the review
We want Phil your post is idiotic
i thnk we want phils post was probably right on having witnessed 2 memphin train wrecks in charlotte and hammerstein and he has been changing his delivery patterns waiting for the loop.....he completely derailed west la fadeaway in charlotte and he did it to maggies farm either in charlotte or asheville....its part his band and its his song selection and he can do whatever he wants but sometimes you have to call it like you see it...still love everybody and everything but i play in a band and when when you drop the ball...i.e. the words or the timimg people notice thats all
havent heard it yet for 2nd time but i was there and clearly for me asheville is #2 and definately without a doubt and everybody i was with all agree that wednesday night rcmh was the bomb...we are still talking about it
I had a great time last night. Where I was the crowd was having a grand time.
Highlight for me: Phil's bass and rig. Way better than that disaster he was using previous. You can feel the notes. I have really missed that.
I wasn't gonna go to this show but I freebie, so wtf.
They sound great and it is a lot of fun.
Peace.
Phil was using his Modulus as he did @ Radio City. I personally think it's a huge improvement in tone over the Ritter. A lot more mids.
Can't believe winter tour is over so soon. What a fun week!
Thought the show was great. Second time I've seen this lineup (Wallingford last fall) and both were good, in very different ways. Wallingford seemed to space and drift (from what I recall), whereas this show seeemed to bounce forward. I'm impressed by the whole band, but props to Bobby and John. We all love Phil, and to me he's almost always on his game. Bobby's more of a crap shoot (casino reference!), but he seems to be really on his game right now. And John. My lord, can he play. Right now I'd take him over any post-Jerry incarnation.
It's funny, but in the 80s-90s, Tennessee Jed was so often an afterthought, lacking any excitement save for the line when all the drunks get to yell ("drink all day and rock all night!"). Tonight it was one of the highlights for me. As for Memphis Blues ... well, I'm a huge Dylan fan, and I always loved the first set Weir/Dylan comboes (yes, all of them, even Queen Jane!) - I have a vague recollection of John Scott or Blair Jackson or someone like that commenting at one point back in the day how it's become boring to comment on how uniformly strong those songs had become. So, I was psyched to hear the "Memphis Blues," though I agree that it had some trainwreck moments.
I thought just about everything else was really well played. I'd never seen Alligator, so that was fun, and Phil let off some great bombs during the 2nd Set Other One. Oh, a bunch of Truckin teases following He's Gone, too. (I forgot they'd just played it the previous show, and like an idiot kept predicting it.)
I guess at this point, rather than being hyper-critical of every little strange nuance, I'm just enjoying the ride. I look around and talk to some of the cranks in the audience - the folks who sit with a scowl for three-plus hours - and wonder why they're there. I get it - you loved and miss Jerry, this band's not your favvorite post-GD incarnation, they're changing things and experimenting, they didn't play the songs you (subjectively) think make up a good setlist, etc. When I listen to old Grateful Dead shows, I always pick the killer ones, the ones where no band EVER will touch them. I don't waste time with the many shitty shows we all had to wadethrough to get to those special ones. Not sure what I'm trying to say with this semi-rant ... maybe I'm just cranky myself because I'm getting old and I'm sore from dancing balls last night. Anyhoo, see you in the parks this summer!!
Big Brown last night too?? Can someone give a full rundown of JK v. W v. PL vox?
From the reviews, i guess/assume it went like this:
Set 1: Jam >
Other One (v1) > BW
Alligator > JK again? I think PL might do it betta
(I was @ the 3/16/98 Fillmore PL&F show, and the Alligator opener sung by PL was insane!)
Tennessee Jed, JK?
Memphis Blues > BW

Pride of Cucamonga, PL
El Paso, BW

If I'm right, that means BW sang the last 5 tunes of the show - including 3 JG tunes in a row? Ouch.
The Modulus Bass!! Yes - no bluring blue lights and a fat bottom end!!! Hope he plays it in AC tonite.
Heading down soon!
LOVE the MODULUS!
>>>>
If I'm right, that means BW sang the last 5 tunes of the show - including 3 JG tunes in a row? Ouch.
sang the eleven, too. def high cheese factor but he sounded good. i do wish they would work together on the eleven but still enjoyed. as always, great jam.
also did sotm justice... imo. (ducks)
Mod rules - I'm pretty sure he played it all night.
As for vocals, I'm pretty sure Tennessee and Half-Step were swtiches (BW/JK). I think you pretty much got the rest, Spencer. More Phil vocals would've been nice. All told, the vocals were great, especially the chanty/chorus/singalong parts with the backups. And I agree, Weir did not totally destroy SOTM (he had his moments, but the build-up at the end was pretty darn good!).
Happy Saturday morning ya'll.
I would say after seeing four shows, Ithaca, Manchester, Utica this show came in a very strong second from start to finish. With Utica being the best I saw.
Although this first set was amazing and easily was the best opener I saw.
I am surprised no one has mention the really nice jam that opened the show, it was warm and inviting and just lifting you away. It sounds really good on the board and then to finish the Other One from Tuesday night...Wow it was smokin' and Phil sound great playing the Modulus and the band was wicked tight!. John was fiddling with his equipment and switch tones in the end jam so it did not go off the hook but it was excellent and then to go into a funky Alligator.
Nice choice guys.
Then with out missing a beat they jumped into Tennessee Jed, with dire warnings about the casino that surrounded us .
I agree with Cianflora assessment of this version, it was hot and much more high energy than Ithaca.
Reading what I have heard about Memphis Blues, I was slightly concerned and when Bob missed his opening I cue I was like oh oh.. but he quickly rebounded and delivered a strong version and nailed all the verses. I agree with the shifting tempo/raggea thing at the end.. dump it.
This Loser I think was the song that really got everyone in sync it was breathtaking and a high light of the night.
Pride of Cucamonga was played with a bouncy confidence that was infectious and you just had to jump on in the water is fine.Phil sounded amazing playing the Modulus and I have a feeling she is here for a while.
Alright I was very psyched for an electric El Paso, nice to see Bobby pull out some of his more rare songs in one set, yeah he botched the lyrics...bad Bobby, but the band really deliver a lilting version and JK played a nice midi solo on it. It ended strongly so it was worth the effort.
Then things went from 0-60 fast and we got a stunning Foolish Heart, man this was one of the songs of the night.Jeff and the drummers were perfect on it and this version was happening.Phil really loves playing this one again It was just so flowing and the ending was great, JK played this cranked up solo that was different than what he did in Utica.
Perfect and then one more song... yeh hah!
At the time I thought the tempo was alittle off but on second listening it works quite well and was a great set closer. Bobs vocals were extremely tight and the audience loved it. JK first solo was poetic, he switched to the midi about halfway through it then added alittle wah wah next. I like
It is quite apparent the musical bond developing between Jeff and John. John played a nice piano solo and JK played some sweet chords to back him up.
JK finally solo was wah wah all the way and was cool and Bobby playing sounded quite good as well.
yellow{ thats right the women are smarter...THAT RIGHT!}
Phil was funny he said " we will be right back as long as you all stay here" lol
I felt this second set from start to finish was tour de force and showcased what this band is good at and great at. A resounding up tempo Bertha was very welcomed and they nailed it.The band really soared on it and the changes were awesome.
We were sitting wayyyy up in 113, and the audio was quite nice and loud enough but no room to dance so we headed to the floor and I was able to use my cd bracelet to get me and my buddy on the floor for the rest of the show. I set up camp right in front of the sb and was a very happy camper.
Nice to go old school by pairing this up with Good Lovin' and the jam at the end was wicked.Bobby even did some high pitched screams at the end "aaaahhh"
Follow this up with a heartfelt and powerful He's Gone and everyone was smiling. Perfect harmonies by the ladies and I like Bob and JK switching verses on it. The ending was quite special and the jam out of this was excellent and I heard themes reminiscent of the Mind Left Body Jam, now if they broke that out I would be totally on board, and was really good. Then going in 1/2 Step was awesome and this version was off the charts. I mean they blew the roof on it.
Wow!!!
Then to go into a brief drums and erupt into KSM? This one smoked the one they played at UMASS and I thought it had some wicked searing jams in it as well and seemed longer than usual.
I got up to within the 20th row for some quick shots.
Another breathtaking SOTM, saw the one in Ithca as well, and this band was right there.
Then to jump right back and finish the Other One. Phil ERUPTED into the song and this was nice to see and hear finished and then to keep it going by jumping into the Eleven?
This was turning into a barn burner, I thought this was easily as good if not better than the one they played back in December and was wildly received by the majority of folks dancing on the floor.
Then to cap it up with an EPIC Sugar Magnolia? Wow this was one for the ages and the band played a joyous revival version and the SSDD was HUGE. This was Bob at full control here and it was quite special.
We went nuts as they brought it to a crashing, cascading ending.
Perfect.
A raging and smokin' US Blues with a rave up addition after they ended it, like the Saturday nite in Utica, sent us out into the casino which was festive open and quite relaxing. There were plenty of earth colors, a beautiful mural, water fountains and water falls,a mellow vibe, and even a Ben and Jerry's which many of us Wharf Rats went too. I think everyone thought this was a fun place to be.
Oh yeah the video feed was quite professional as well.
I took the plunge and went for the Mike DuBois, love his work, tour poster as well. Which I thought was great on closer inspection and has a nice textured print quality as well.
Happy trails
Here are some shots.

Standing "Off" the Moon, really Bobby?
The Other One V.2, wow, felt bad for Bobby, he really messed up the lyrics big time and knew it right off the bat "Oh my god" then stepped back from the mic.
And then "What Now" lyrics over and over, sounded to me like Bobby had no idea where to go.
Someobody mentioned he was sick, but good lord, they absolutely mangled some songs.
I love seeing Dead incarcerations in any form, but last night was the WORST one I have ever seen in my life. Had a blast and know they can't all be barn buners. Bobby was having an off night.
Pumped to get in for $20 bucks and talk with some old deadheads. Thats my favorite part.
^ i didn't think it was that bad, c/r... typical cheese... plenty of head tiltin jaw out weir money shots to be had for you photogs.
i think it was so noticeable because he sang so much. he didn't axe everything he did. i thought the ratio was what it always is.
i'll take bobby singin if jill makes the list ;)
$20 that's what the market has been bearing preshow... thought it would be tougher last night but glad you got in.
>>>worst one I ever have seen in my life.
OMG! Wait till you listen to the show again LMAO
Second set was pretty good last night. They definately were giving it a full effort and were pretty succesful a lot of the time taking the jams into interesting places.
I think Half Step was the highlight of the second set for me but it was all good. Pretty cool getting in an Other One first and second set, definately liked hearing that one come back in.
Bob sang Standing on the Moon fine, I don't get what the obsession is about this stuff. It was completely fine, he botched some things last night but that wasn't one of them. If he wants to sing a Jerry song in tribute, why do people care.
I'm glad to see Bobby is singing most of Jerrys songs, as he should...the imposter, pretender, placebo, douchebag or whatever you want to call whats his face shouldnt be singing them... ..with his bland and weak voice he should be allowed to sing backup strictly, or maybe the Adams songs (maybe)...this band could be ok if they got a really good guitarist and vocalist like Scott Murawski, but I hope he will tour with Billy K or Gordon this summer...Billy K is playing real improvisational music, not this prearreagned setlist, canned product that ferther is churning out....and MGB is pretty damn hot right now also...
2nd set was definately not canned last night. I'm not saying they don't play canned sets because they certainly do but that one is worth a listen back.
i'll check it out on archive...sure the SOTM was great... i'm just sick of the Bobby bashing...he's Bob fucking Weir! h e's not a member of some cover band! jeesh
the SOTM and the whole show was sick!
bobby did a great job with it and the band backed him with style power and grace!!!
GREAT TIME!!!
Lovehaight should change to Lovehate. Opinions are what this site is for but your douchebag statement borders on silly.
Find the thrill and chill!
why? because i like my guitarists to have a little flair of their own, not impersonating JG? and please dont tell how 'original' whats his face is, that shit don 't fly here as i wasnt born yesterday and have ears that work...would love to find the thrill, but this band just doesnt have it...
great show everyone. Take the good with the bad like we always have.. I won't get in to all the details. It all was nice and well played and a great time. half step, loser and the good lovin' ripped! Lots of great jams and very psychadelic. Enjoy!
crayfingers, go to the Taj blog as it is out of order and after the Mohegan thread. Check it out, I want your take on it!!
previous comments saying it was the worst
Being live at the worst show is better than my couch on the best night
Andrew,
the fact that you called him a "doucebag" just shows how mentally ill you are. Why would you say that? You keep mentioning Scott Murowski we understand you like him a lot but John is a good, honest man who really does have a voice of his own.
When you're 70 and are having trouble from walking because of all this hate that you spread you'll be thinking back and wishing you were a little more open minded to what this band is doing and a little less hateful in everything you say...
you also say it's BOB WEIR... you're right, and Bobby really likes John and he really like DSO and respects that they are more of a "spirit band" than a "cover band"..
Phil.. not so much, he seems to not like DSO very much but I hope he will soon see them from a different angle and realize they weren't sitting around a table trying to capitalize off the Grateful Dead and that they are just a bunch of deadheads who love this music...
AINT NO TIME TO HATE - ROBERT HUNTER
Hey, people are blogging on the Mohegan thread. It's out of order on the list and shows up 1st even though the Taj is the page you're looking for.
'cmon people, smile on your brother, everybody get together and try and love one another tonight!"
Enjoy the show!!

Is Bobby channeling Jerry with the beard or a ships captain? Sorry to you ratdog fans, in all my years of touring, he was always clean shaved and it's hard to take seriously."
I guess you missed these years, then:

PLEASE drop the trite Dylan tunes. PLEASE! Use 'em ALL up now, so we don't have to hear any of those fillers in Chicago."
quite possibly the most ignorant thing ever written on the zone...
hahahaha....
this band could be ok if they got a really good guitarist and vocalist like Scott Murawski,
I love Max Creek, but Lovehaight, murawski is an awesome guitar player but sings like a rat with a nose cold...come on man, you just trying to stir it up? Ok, so maybe you like what you like. I was with you when you were sticking up for bobby, but when you went to murawski for vocals you made my night. hahahahah.
Rock on Johnny K.
Does anyone remember Truck drivin' man?

""quite possibly the most ignorant thing ever written on the zone...""
I'll take that as a high compliment.
I like me some Dylan A LOT. It's certainly not an anti-Dylan thing. I never cared for GD messing with them. Not in the 80s. Not in the 90s. Not now. Fillers. That's all they are to me: FILLER. But specifically, I'm going to see this band improvise and watch their musical minds in action, not listen to Bob recite 12 verses and use up a valuable 10 minutes of show time. Considering the other possibilities, it's time very poorly spent.
Douchebag? That's a bit personal, isn't it? Show some couth, and if you can't muster that, perhaps just a tad of decency and respect. This ain't the Ratdog site.
"I like me some Dylan A LOT"
your original post did not make this clear...your latest explanation now makes it clear that it's the "trite" versions of Dylan songs by the GD that are the "filler"...I don't agree, but at least I know where you stand on Mr. Dylan ;)

Furthur - Pride of Cucamonga 2/26/2010 Mohegan Sun Arena
zeno you have no idea
>>>Phil.. not so much, he seems to not like DSO very much but I hope he will soon see them from a different angle and realize they weren't sitting around a table trying to capitalize off the Grateful Dead and that they are just a bunch of deadheads who love this music...
dood, where do you get your innie information? becasue bobby has sat in with ratdog and phil never did? you are assmunching your way to conclusions here.
and fwiw, phil is enjoying johnny k just fine. seen it with me own eyes.
first i dont hate this band...second Scott is a fantastic singer, and this guy isnt in the same legeau as him..third, DSO are nothing more than an attemted clone of the dead..Phil and Bob both know this, as should anyone with ears....fourth Truck Driving Blues! you must have seen Creek in the 70s! Been seeing them since '82 and have only seen one or two of them.....
suggest you listen some of the MIGHTY BK3 shows from last year, or some Scotts work with Mike Gordon...compared to the weak, limp vocals that JK produces, theres clearly no comparism...i mean really, just listen
"i'm just sick of the Bobby bashing...he's Bob fucking Weir!"
Actually, when he turns futhur into ratdog by taking every lead vocal for 6 songs in a row, he is "Fucking Bob Weir"
Bobby Bashers: want some more fuel for the fire?Check out the Buffalo Bucket and attempted screeching @ the end. FWIW, I actually dont mind BW's take on SOTM, but in this band, no one of the three main guys should be signing six in a row.
Give me drumz>KSM>UBC>Dew in nite 2 chicago boys!!!!!
Re: John (Dubstar) posting: I guess you missed these years, then:
http://www.cuckoobird.net/images/BobWeir.jpg
hey, who you tryin' to fool??? THAT'S a picture of Trey Anastasio...
John, I was thinking the same thing when I read (that) post by Dave Herrling (Meltdown)...Bobby's "beard days" from the 70's...and don't forget Garcia was originally clean-shaven, and did it one (last?) time in the early 90's as part of his attempts to rehab himself...but I think it may have been following the '92 fatigue collapse when he was tryin' to kick the Twinkies and went vegetarian to improve his health as a 50 year-old.
Andrew... While Phil may not like DSO... Bobby clearly does since he has played with them and said in an interview... while playing with them..
"I felt the presence of Jerry"
so you can keep making yourself belief Bobby hates DSO who are more than just a band trying to "clone" the Grateful Dead. Have you see DSO? Do you know the keyboard player, Rob Baracco, played with Phil first? that the rhythm guitarist is a grammy winning producer and is simply just a dead head.. as they all are. They are all amazing musicians in their own right and they just keep the spirit alive and do it very, very well.
Great band....great show
I love seeing Murawski get his due...but I dont think think this band would be a good fit for him
He is his OWN...and will play HIS way...always
He explores more than this act would like to do....
I would hate to hear Scott play just a role....I Like hearing him play like HE likes to play
Dude is a rocker
I thought the show was great! the other one, alligator, the eleven? love it when phil pounds the bass on the old psychedelia. I saw them with warren in worcester last april, kinda felt they were a little more of 'band', but hey i'll take anything cause 'may be the last time, i don't knowwwww'!!!!!
p.s. anyone see the dude with the spaghetti legs collapse like five times near the wolf b4 show? kinda sad but fuckin hysterical to watch happen!
This was my favorite Further show to date, either seen live or heard on Archive. That opinion may change after hearing it again, but the generous helpings of jamming, transitions (even Memphis Blues - Loser was a killer transition!), explorations, teases, and downright PLAYFULNESS that occurred this night is simply not to be equaled. Even the Amherst show, which I really liked, only had 1 real transition jam (Caution - Dark Star). Some of the shows have had none at all. Yes, there were shaky moments, but I will even give Bobby credit for a grate job on Standing on the Moon - first non-butchered Bob-Shatnerized version I have ever witnessed live.
Here Comes Sunshine was teased heavily twice early - right before Other One V1, then again before Alligator. The He's Gone jam hinted strongly at the Englishtown He's Gone - NFA jam, and went into a very powerful Half Step in a very well conceived transition. The setlist had a lot of unusual twists and placements, but they all WORKED very well, the entire show hung together as a theme/story, the whole 2nd set was played thru witn no stops. Both sets were over 90' long, plus the encore made this show over 190', I think the only other show this long was Wallingford in Dec (and maybe New Year's?).

Too bad the ONLY aud source to surface so far sucks donkey balls in the sound quality dep't (including the fob taper fight with the dumbass seat stealing rowdies during 1/2 step) - stragely enough, the 2nd set fob actually sounds worse than the ts 1st set. I guess Audio Technica mic's are still as schwag as they were back in the day - may just have to break down and buy the $bd . . .
this band is getting better and better with time.I went to Wallingford in dec, Manchester, Amherst and this one. Enjoy it while you can!!!
> Enjoy it while you can!!!
AMEN brother!!!
What I can't believe is how much everyone bitches about this or that - but when phil is gone - I will be missing even the bad nights...
I agree with sideshow, the aud recording sound cuts in and out as people block the mikes. We are actually treated to the taper arguing with some folks over it. Second set is distorted and just sounds bad.
Otherwise it was a fun show to listen to.
