next time you see me....follows a theme of departure and return

alabana getaway.....anybody see a pattern?
when you return......seems to be the same theme, even though I've never heard it.
casey jones.....riding that train!!!
maybe I'm seeing a pattern where there is none. Even if I'm imagining a theme of journeys, with departures and reunions.....well, it looks like a great set no matter what. Can't wait to hear the new bass!
nice perspective...and good song selection!

:::Your father's light saber. This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times... before the Empire:::
>>>1sr set has a lot of movement songs....like Phil's taking the audience on a voyage.
BINGO!!
even more so in the second set. thanks phil, thanks jackie. the show of a lifetime for me. you guys rock!!
Hard to see the new bass in the photos but judging by the body shape I was pretty sure that it is a Ritter and it turned out to be a good guess...the following note is from Jens Ritter's site...
Time flies with all the usual ups and downs in life. But sometimes things happen that are more outstanding than others: As a big fan of PHIL LESH - bass player of the legendary GRATEFUL DEAD - I feel very honored to have received a custom order from him a while ago. Within the next days I will publish some pictures of his recently finished Custom Jupiter 6-String "THE EYE OF HORUS"...
I've been going to shows since '90 and this is one of my favorites, mostly because for the first time ever I was actually able to get on the floor right in front of the stage. Oh yeah, and the band smoked!! Loved Phil's new bass. The guy behind me made the comment that the bass looked kind of like one of Prince's guitars so between songs we jokingly called out Prince songs for Phil to play ( he didn't play any). The band seemed a lot tighter than they did when I saw them last year. The sound guy needed to turn up the keyboards but other than that the sound was great. The highlights for me were the opening Other One, Wheels on Fire, and bar none the best Mason's children ever. They played it so heavy I couldn't help but to make devil's horns and bang my head! The second set over all was one of the best sets I've ever seen (IMHO). It was so great to see the band smiling and Phil was bouncing around like he was going to float off the stage. Probably the best experience I've ever had at a show.
WHEN YOU RETURN : jackie greene
there's too much work today
and I don't want to
do anything today
no I don't want to
but the barn out there needs maintenance
and I ain't got the patience
I think I'd rather sit and watch it burn
wait right here baby until you return
all our friends come by
they annoy me
they try to get me high
but they destroy me
they think they do me service
but they just make me nervous
what goes on is nobody's concern
I'll tell you everything when you return
I can't stand it here
if you're not standing here
I can't keep it together
I can't be brave forever
I'll keep you by my side when you return
I can't stand it here
if you're not standing here
I wish that I was tougher
but it serves me right to suffer
you don't know how a man like me can yearn
I'll tell you everything when you return
There's too much work today
and I don't care to do all the things they say
cause it's not fair to
turn this house into a home
it can't be done alone
give me one more chance that I may earn
earn back you baby when you return
i really like the new Jackie tune
Way to go Jedi Phil! Thanks for the reviews folks. And the stream! Got any more photos to share?
Thanks TROB
Hey why doesnt everyone grab a copy of Jackie's new disc Giving Up the Ghost. The whole album rocks.
Soundcheck was Mason's Children. You could hear the song in the lot behind the Pageant.
Awesome show!!! The entire band had huge smiles on their faces throughout the evening. Phil's futuristic looking bass guitar was a trip.
Bass Solo > The Other One to open the show was unbelievable!!! Steve was jammin' on the keys during The Other One > Truckin'. I could hear his keys perfectly from the balcony.
Doin' That Rag, Black Peter & Midnight Hour were my highlights for the 2nd set. I moved to the front of the stage from my balcony seat during Black Peter and stayed there for the rest of the show.
After show I waited by the tour buses and got my ticket stub autographed by John & Larry. Molo commented on how great the audience was at the Pageant. Jackie had a baseball glove on his right hand as he exited the Pageant and boarded the bus. I shouted out to him that he should tryout for the Cardinals. Phil snuck by everyone, but was kind enough to look out the tour bus window and wave to the crowd.
Many thanks to Phil & Friends for a smokin' hot show in St. Louis!!!
I will have my pics from the show posted on the board soon.
TR, glad I had the opportunity to gush at you my appreciation of your inspiration. nice one man.
red velvet rope crew for life ;)
I love the St Louis ladies!

Gratefulhead, I heard that! Doin' the Rag. aaahhhh great people, great show
on Alabama Getaway it sounds like Phil sings "25 Psalm" instead of the usual "Twenty Third"
