Really, all bets are off, anything can and will happen tonight.

setbreak was like 45 minutes long in chicago - opener to set2 could be a sailor>saint, which might dirve me to bed, but on the other hand, dark star is due, and the dew is due as well!!!

Dark star doesn't do it for me. China>rider ot h>s>f would be great. deal and loser would be a good combo as well :-)

Drummer is having in ear monitor problems. That's what the joke was for, cover while they hooked up headphones for him. He played the rest of the set with them and he looked uncomfortable.

This would be a good time for a surprise bust-out.

Something like Lazy Lightning>Supplication.

But that is unlikely.
They seem to be sticking with stuff that is well rehearsed.

Doster- that's why 2nd nite chitown was THE show, but also sadly why you wont hear china>Rider or H>S>F or TOO 2night deal and/or loser who knows, foolish heart and caution would be a nice combo too, and what about a victim or the crime?

The Pink Floyd cover was done to perfection and wayyyy over the top! This is among most adventurous---and wait what's this? Back into Dark Star!!!!

Phil and Bobby get major props for even trying this stuff after 45 years of their musical partnership and they're still challenging themselves (or allowing themselves to be challenged), and pushing their musical boundaries and envelope---fuck all (you) haters out there!!!

And now the Dew---HELL YEAH!!!

"fuck the haters"

Stupidest phrase used on the net. And almost never appropriate for the situation anyway, as it isn't here. A good shortcut to thinking though. Probably a good reason it isn't heard in verbal conversation too often.

They've been nailing Let It Grow lately. They won't end the set with it, so thats cool that at least one more song is coming before the encore.

Zeno:

"And almost never appropriate...".

So by your own words there must be some time/times such a comment is apropos (just let me know if you also need that clarified in the most likely case you don't understand...)

"...as it isn't here".

Yeah, cause it never happens or has happened in these forums that posters bash either Phil/Bobby---go back and check several years ago when Phil and Bobby were at an impasse and the reactionary and collateral divisiveness in (here) was sickening.

"...a good reason it isn't heard in verbal conversation too often."

Uh, hate to be the one that clarifies this, too for you that (this) is an electronic blog/discussion forum posting--who's having a "verbal conversation"? Don't think that's physically possible within an electronic medium context?

Certainly by virtue of my post I was not even attempting nor intending to engage in a "verbal conversation" with anyone.

I'd also share with you the framework of my dialectical inquiry and quantitative research involving the intersection of motivation and another certain unnamed process, which I'll protect for intellectual property copyright purposes here in a public forum, but I'm afraid it would be casting a pearl before a swine, or perhaps in your case merely a dolt...send me an e-mail and I'll be sure to respond to you next week from my ".edu" address just in case you want to be further (hey about that, a pun?) quashed...

phil sang the words from Breathe Reprise, i dont know if they played every note.

Home, home again.
I like to be here when I can.
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire.
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.

And let's not forget the UJB after Samson!!

What a masterpiece tonight!!
The "time" theme was simply BRILLIANT - (After Midnight....Midnight Hour.....and then Till the Morning Comes....Morning Dew....as well as the "until the morning comes" (in Magnolia Mtn)...and Next Time You See Me.......

Not to mention Golden ROAD and gdtROADfb....

Morning Dew was MON-U-MEN-TAL!!!

The flow of the show....from Sugaree on, was pure perfection. This was some of the best music I have heard in YEARS! Dare I say......this rivals some of my favorite GD shows! And yes, I have been to more than two shows in my lifetime! :-)

Un-fucking-believable show.

Unreal. It cannot be overstated: John K is the real deal.
His passion and effort raises everyone else on the stage to a higher level, and, the girls singing backup should stay in any future incarnation, they round out the vocals so well, its hard to imagine them not being there after hearing them busting their ass the whole tour so far. They are the vocals for a good deal of the songs, and they are the harmony blend, and thank god they’re there.

If you can see this band sometime, do yourself a favor, and go see them.
The energy was high, the vibes so good, that I felt like Phil made some on the fly set change choices, and it ended up being a damn historical night by any measure, with any lineup. did i mention the line for the post-show recordings of the show, a half a block long?

Made it in during the first song, found my way to my quite expensive spot in the PhilZone on the floor, about 25 rows back, $67.50 plus $10 parking, thank you very much. Couldn't believe in the first set how much they were really bringing the heat, there is a lot of energy, a lot of emotion, a lot of Phil talking into his mic to talk to the others in their in ear monitors. Everything, I mean everything went well this show.

So, the next time you see me was slow and bob weir’d out. Till The Morning was excellent, high energy, and extremely well played I thought. As was Good Lovin and Cumberland. Ripple was a real crowd pleaser as usual and very emotional for me, personally, only to be followed by the song that pretty much got me into being a Jerry loving, Dead music loving Head: Sugaree, (specifically the Terrapin Limited ed. version with Brent and Jerry.) This version was extremely well played and sang. JK is on fire!
Set break was pretty long and I was thankful it was. We stubbed about 5 peeps to the floor. It has to be said, Jeff has so much confidence now, is playing so well. And when he would solo, they would turn him up, finally! i was really impressed with him, thank goodness he does what he does, the way he does it, I thought his nice long solo, with an ascending musical figure at the end of the solo on Sugaree. John also did an amazing rave up solo and then, bam!, they’d drop it on a dime, right back into the groove on Sugaree. amazing. Really powerful. This is a hot damn band.

This needs to be clear as well: second set was a monster, if first was great, and wonderful, second was almost surreal it was so good. I was cold sober for this show.
When I walked out I felt great.

Golden Road was also played well, and all of the little turns were hit, then a real amazing thing happened: Birdsong with Phil really, really doing this one well, leading the band through the changes and leaving a big nice breath break before one of the verses towards the end the song “I’ll show you/ ..... ..... ..... ....storm and rain..” He put in the “All I know/ is something like a bird within HIM sang” again in honor of Jerry for one of the verses, and a lot of people caught it and cheered. Alligator was great, with a really heartfelt jam by John.

The Time > Breathe Reprise covers by Phil were so well done. And, so well received, the crowd ate this part up. And was really ecstatic to be hearing it and singing along. This cover blew the doors off the place, the crowd really came uncorked. It was a screaming sing along fest. I enjoyed also the disco ball with the lights spinning on the Time, along with the clock image projected on the video screen up and around the edges of the stage’s hanging speaker stacks, I believe the venue put this in recent renovation.

The jam out of (Time >) Breathe into Darkstar was pretty phenomenal. Then, they followed with Morning Dew which i had a feeling all week they’d play. Such a well played version of Morning Dew, John really felt and was wailing this song and his solos in it. Believe Jeff also took a solo. Then a rippin’ let it grow which was pretty well jammed out. Midnight hour was good and funky, Jeff had some killer solo. Goin’ Down the Road was again, a home run, really amazing rave up in the energy during this. Then, And We Bid You, so well sang, so much love felt. People in my little group of peeps were hugging and embracing during this song, it was heart felt. Emotional.

Touching, although I’d rather have John sing the melody line that Jerry always sang on We Bid You Goodnight because Bobby likes to pull himself back out of the line on any superhigh note, he doesn’t sing out enough so it is impossible to hear him, and then his whole singing of the melody disappaers completely. Now, was it also hard to hear Jerry singing that line, in the recordings I have, even the vault releases that were remixed, yes it was, one every one pretty much.

He was behind the beat in Sugaree, and it seemed like right after the song was done, backstage Phil was encouraging him to speed up his pre-verse timing to begin his singing cadence so that the verses were sung on the first count of each measure, not behind them, which is also how Bob plays guitar, so perhaps this is the cause. I saw Phil really talking to him with a lot of body language behind Phil’s rig at the end of the 1st set, really demonstrative and animated in his gesturing and whole body bobbing, I assumed he was trying to demonstrate what he thought would be more true to the song’s traditional delivery by Jerome.

Phil’s donor rap was brought about pretty quick, in his return to the stage, after people were clapping the Not Fade Away clap part, which was damn cool to hear. The Samson while it didn’t start out that well, I’m not sure Joe could hear Bob say what song was coming or something, eventually got going after a few bars, with phil encouraging the usual bo diddley beat intro part, for the 2 drummers. And then a real amazing song to hear, Uncle John’s Band, with the crowd clapping parts done really well. I was pretty overcome by how well played, how passionate, and how much care was put into tonight by the band. This is the real deal right here. I don’t know who made this setlist, it rings a bit of a Phil/Jill Lesh setlist, but, it was really really well done and so powerful to be a part of--apparently I just should have bought some ear plugs considering we were right in front of the speakers and on the loud sections of certain songs it was just too loud, and the sound was distorting the high end considerably.

If you were there, you know what I’m talking about: that although the crowd wasn't the most particpatory crowd ever, and there were a lot of wasted people, it was a killer night, with some really cool, chill folks, in a neat little venue. It was literally another night of strangers stopping strangers and strangers introducing themselves to strangers, and helping one another out. I saw one of the security guards at the end, and said what a show tonight eh, and the guy said, yes sir! And I highly doubt that guy had ever listened to a show like that before.

One thing I will say, is that for a venue that size, about the size of the Oakland Henry J. Daiser, all on one level though, just a bowl shape, the sound mix was too loud. And John’s guitar tone was overkill. We were located about 50 feet ahead of the sound board, straight out from phil’s rig, and about 100 or so feet from the front of the stage and the railing. It was just distorting during some of John’s solos it sounded like to me, everyone tended to be turned up too much, and John and Bob’s guitars sounded too ‘screechy’ and ‘treble’ loaded I thought because of trying to be heard above the din. We were right in front of the left side speaker stack though, and I know that at the back of the floor, things were considerably better sounding, and not nearly as loud. What can I say, 10 years of meditation and daily spiritual practice makes me sensitive to such things, probably more than others no doubt. Was the sound good, yes, it was just too damn loud for where we were, so the blend and warmth was gone, it was just balls out guitars JK wail and Weir and Lesh close behind, with everything else taking a back seat.

Joe Russo is a powerful drummer, and I love hearing him with Phil in this lineup, he isn’t super busy with what he does, but he safely covers what 2 drummers normally do, and he does it in a great way. Jay Lane is also impressive. Everyone really seems to know their roles well, and does their best in them, and even surpasses their best, on a night like to night.

They could have probably sold out a venue twice that size tonight, but I'm thankful I was one of the 9k there. And, I’m thankful that they were in the venue they were in, not somewhere else, really; security was bad enough, it would have been somewhere else it likely would have been worse. The pepsi center would have been bananas but this was perfect. I was concerned and assuming they’d be taking it easy this show, possibly even winded from last night. I know that Phil loves CO, and loves to play here, but without 5 months at 1 mile up, well, his groups and him usually feel the altitude. This clearly wasn’t the case tonight.

Venue background/Security: we saw some of the Argus security goons bust a guy next to us, took his pipe and greenery, and, as usual, probably took them to the evidence locker, to be used personally. Apparently, there were plain clothes officers in and around busting people too, it seems the host city wanted their cut of the action as well. Most of what I saw was the same overly aggressive goon with a buzz cut, walking around a lot, and saw him bust 2 people, that was on the phil side of the floor. Also pretty damn thorough pat down w/o any back packs allowed, to get in.

Its not cheap, and that is frustrating, they are charging at the high end of what most of us could conservatively be deemed to be ‘affordable’, and I think that is unfair, considering tonight however, I felt it was not worth it necessarily, but it was proportionate to what we got back, which was a lot of effort and care with an incredible catalog of music that was played to a t, and then some.

Considering they started about 8:20 and we left around 12:30-40am, that was quite a bit of music and hard work, in that amount of time. We all know music this well composed and written, by Jerry and the band takes a lot to be played in its traditional ass kicking rock and roll style that we’re all used. Still, it feels like this band is pretty over priced by 20-25% in this no-economy climate, for a band that used to be so economical and played so many free shows, this shit now is far far from it. When we saw the NYE’s show, in Oakland in 2001, Derek Trucks Band opened, then Ratdog, then 3 sets of Phil with a Crusader Rabbit Band sandwhiched in between. We got about 7-8 hours of music for what I paid tonight, which was $67 mail order (online in this case). Tonight, half the music amount, for the exact same price, for one band. I can’t help but think that Weir is pushing these prices to suit some return in net income markup he feels he deserves. He doesn’t. Plus the venue costs to boot, I had to park that was another 10 spot, any beverages were $3.50 up, which I had one of. Grand total, $80, thanks. (And thats no tshirt, $30, posters $20, CD’s $25, no goods from the shakedown area, etc. etc. none of which I bought or bothered with.)

I am going to check archive.org for a DL of this, if there aren’t a lot of great ones, at betree, etc. I’m going to consider buying a CD set of it, possibly.

Damn, I was kinda expecting a bit of a let down or hang-over after the monster 2nd show in Chicago; I caught some of the stream from the 1st of these 2, and from the setlists and comments these two shows were nearly as good. It seems like this band is absolutely on fire; found another gear; on a whole 'nother lever...whatever metaphor you want to use. I like the fact that they mixed it up and played Ripple in the 1st; add to that a double encore...all I can say is DAMN!!!

I paid just over $100 for 2 excellent reserved seats in Atlanta, not to mention another $50+ on beverages. I also came out to find my car booted, which added another $75 to my grand total.

But you know what? It was worth every fucking penney!

Prone to exaggeration? Come now. I am a HUGE fan of this ensemble; to me it is the most enjoyable of all post-'95 GD-derivative groups. I'd catch every show I could and listen to everyone I miss, but OTHER WORDLY?

I love that we still get such high quality shit out of these guys. They are bringing it more consistently than we could have ever hoped, but calm down, at last a notch.

The first set last night was a hoedown, a Saturday Night Colorado Country Barn Dance. I enjoyed the different textures of the songs- bluesey, countryish, rockin,' and old school.

Quick story, in line outside the show a fellow recently divorced and still feeling the sting was telling his friends how his life was getting better, and he wanted to hear "Next Time You See Me" since it captures his feelings towards his ex. This song was played for the brother in line who is healing his life.

Cumberland in particular got rave reviews from my crew, some of whom had not seen a family show since Jerry died. They loved the whole experience and are back on the Bus. Good Lovin was very well played, the old intro fooled the youngsters. I liked Sugaree more than I thought I would with Bobby singing, he brought sincerity and energy to the tune.

Set 2 is still beyond words. Time was the natural highlight and they nailed it. I love when the boys cover classic tunes by the Beatles and also Pink Floyd, because it is timeless music that benefits greatly from the energy Mr. Lesh and company bring.

This is a band that has found it's power and capacity to make great music. And they bring the special vibe that made the Grateful Dead not only the best at what they do, but the only ones who did so.

Nice Review Crazy! Agree there were a lot of wasted people, to be expected from a Sat. Night crowd, no?

Secuirty was nonexistent for the most part where we were in the stands.

had one yellow shirt on Friday, tell me to take it outside, but saw no one confiscating anything.

Again, have no idea what others experience was, but if you had a clue, security was a non-issue.

Had a minor haeart attack, when we finally got through security to have our tickets checked, when one of the two we had scored, showed up as cancelled on their hand held scanners.

Sent us to the BOx Office and we got things straigtened out in times to get to ~the same place we had been the night before.

SOund was good, the place if it needs anything are some video screens becasue you can't see from the back, with any detail at least.

hardly mattered to me as I spent most of time dancing with eyes closed.

Sat. 2nd set lights were really nice.

A little over face for both nights for the two of us and tickets, while obviously in hig demand were available, you just had to Poke Around.

Some of our best work and just what the Dr. ordered for yours truly.

For us on the stream the second set was the REAL deal. We had a blast and it was one of the better sounding live streams I have heard. Kudos to the taper who treated us.

I would say this easily surpassed the second night in RCMH. I mean the Dew just explodes at the end. The entire band was right there. I have to say that this Dark Star was also more impressive than AC, more of a traditional '73 feel but that is how I like them.
The Bird song was also a highlight, flowing and majestic and I caught the gender change as well.
This set would not just end, I mean it was wild. A beautiful We Bid You Good Nite to cap it off?
Wow!

Time was also quite impressive as well, although the transition from DS was alittle rough.

JK was clearly strutting his stuff big time. The bomb Phil drops at the end of Morning Dew and Jeff wailing on the B3, simply stunning! Bobby was hot the entire night as well.
Sadly the stream ended so we did not hear the encores.
So much for OMSN?
I am going for the board on this one for sure :-)

Some random thought to share about last night. Getting to and into the venue was so easy and the staff was really nice. I liked the changing color lights on the outside of the building.

Sound quality was excellent in our spot. We were able to understand Bob's duck joke, though some of our friends elsewhere could not.

Now the music. I was blown away by how Phil came galloping out of the gate on After Midnight - no three chord basics here, it was so well played.

I thought Next Time You See Me was just OK but after that it was outstanding. Great tunes played well. Nice choices. I liked the direction that Good Lovin' took and thought it felt like the Scaret jam for a while. And then Sugaree sealed the deal with a hard rocking finish.

Second set was just incredible from start to finish. When they started playing Time, I thought they might descend to a sloppy cover band but damn, it went intergalactic. Morning Dew had some really great musical interplay between JK and JC.
Let it Grow was beautiful and WBYG was just spot on. The vocal harmonies have rarely been better.

The Encore felt like a mini third set and I was sad to say goodbye. I hope we get another opportunity so hear this band again soon. (Red Rocks?)

It was so great to see Bob and Phil together again and making such new fresh music. Thank you thank you.

By the way - anybody seen my face?

Wow looks like another killer show. Did anyone think it could be this good? Certainly not me. What strikes me is the spirit this music is bringing with it. Just have not felt this feeling for a long time and it sure feels good.

I thought it was great. Kick ass IMO. I took a few more photos, but wasn't close so nothing too special. Also have a few short clips of some second set songs. I have four more clips I can't get to upload. All of WBYG, some Let it Grow and a couple others. I'll report back if I get them to upload. Might be worth checking out for the memory boost.

Blackie,

Catchabigone doesn't need me to defend him, but I'll say that he has seen this band quite a bit, including some of the rehearsal shows (I kept hip-checking him by accident one night) so his perspective, while glowing and being only his own, is not based on only one or two events.

His opinion is pretty fleshed out, and has added validity IMO because he bagged pretty good on one of the recent shows he saw, which tells me he's not one of those, "EVERYTHING is great man!" types.

And I gotta' say, last nights show sure does look great.

Now bring it back to the west coast, and then HOME for a Phil blowout!!!

Homer, I wouldn't worry bro, the way this band is cookin' they will not be leaving the kitchen any time soon, they wanna see like we do, what else they can cook up while the flames are burning ice blue roses. I guarantee Portland will get some more fire. You can bet on it, why?

Well, for one, they'll be feeling this show, as I am, all the way to Portland, and geeked to finish with a (mt. hood) volcano of a show, and, practically speaking these cats aren't at CO altitude anymore, so, I doubt that any of them will be winded anymore. I just hope they come back through CO this summer for some multi-night outdoor or indoor, who cares, shows. At this point, I just want to be on that floor again with them wailing and soaring.

You know in the middle of the second set, when weir's lovely pre-arranged locks of hair are sideways and standing on end, on the sides of his head, that things got hot and wet. I have never seen John completely destroy songs like that, he looked like he knew he couldn't put a finger wrong--I have seen Phil kill a night like that but all of them, all of them, were really in the zone for the better part of the night, I think from easily Sugaree on. And yeah, I was long winded above, so skip it--sorry. I didn't compose the post in the 'box' i did it in a word processor, still up from the show.

One other thing, the venue was dank ass stanky, thats a good thing to be sure, and being out here, to be expected. Apparently this show was hyped big time all week, both shows, on kbco, and they did an instudio performance, here in Boudler, on thurs. Anyone know anything about that instudio performance? I would have loved to have been outside the studio for that one, like i was for phil's last run through Bo CO in March 08. Well, i tried calling repeatedly to find out when they were going to be in, but no one would pick up a damn phone in the studio. Not that I blame them.

Along with 7.15.01 Deer Creek, and 12.31.01 Oakland, last night was a "I loved every minute" night, one of my favorite shows personally, and that is saying something because there was quite a scream when billy! in from HI (and mickey of course) stepped onstage again on NYE 01 to sit in with phil on a aux. percussion rig in the Midnight set.

I really enjoyed the post above about the Time theme, nice investigative work there. Heaven help the fool who thinks this band is just going to lope along ala some 03 and 09 shows and comes into these shows with their head in the wrong place, you will leave with no face, no head, no hair, just a nub. I say that including the last one here in Denver with the Dead at the pepsi center that was wildly panned as a slow night full of slower songs, played well, but slow. Seems Phil and Bob had some ripping rocking in mind instead last night. It felt like a group flight, lots of eyes closed, dancing hard, the group mind was definitely in effect, and band responded to that concentrated mental environment, that greater community of band-crowd-crew: there were straight up group-soloing interludes going on in many parts of the night, including first set.

One last thing, I shouted this over the music to my buddy, Phil is the best bass player on the planet for what he does, for playing with 2 forty something kids in the rhythm section, including Jeff, he is killing it out there. And he is whooping their ass, and they his. It is mutual annihilation to our mutual benefit. I was glad he played the old Modulus last night. Man.

And Mr. Weir whom I think in my sleep deprivation was railed on above by me unnecessarily, you know, since I am perfect and couldn't perform chopsticks onstage let alone play any instrument and sing at the same time--Mr. Weir last night blew me away as well, he's done that night in and night out for 4 decades. Bob is a new man it looks like, he is in the prototypical vibrant Weir physical shape, looks it, he is highly engaged in the music, he has never sang better that I have heard personally. Its thrilling to see him and phil living their dream in such a fulfilling, exhilarating way, and we were all entranced....there were quiet, crowd enthralled in the moment and music moments and minutes last night, and we were spellbound, mostly in the quieter moments to be sure, but still. They may not come out on the tapes, but people were really listening it seemed like in these times.

When Phil, Bob, Mick, and Bill, when they all decide to hang it up we will all be missing them big time. So please, if you're on the fence, come down and go to a show. The community is there waiting for you. In regards to Phil's amazing bass playing style, where he plays like a lead instrument, yes we'll have Gordon and some other jazz phenom's but Phil is just nailing stuff, he plays so many notes, running up and down the fretboard, that he's like a 3rd damn drummer out there.

You know it must have been destiny/fate/beyond mere coincidence that the Dead formed because no one else could have done what they did, for as long as they have. I mean this music is so dense, so well composed, so well played, with so many notes and scale and chromatic runs, and with lyrics that were in more than a few cases divinely inspired sounding and in the rest of the cases uplifting and representing good in the world, that when the music is really cooking, which it usually is, that its hard to imagine anyone else pulling off what the Dead legacy became, for 10 years, let alone 40+ years.

That kind of longevity does not exist elsewhere. To me its also a sign of the real spiritual undercurrent for good, of the music and the GD Family that kept it going, positively. They all stepped up to the plate, listened well I thought, and nailed it. The whole place was dancing, even the ticket checkers.

go.
see.
this.
band.

I hope to post some photos which I'll link to online on here sometime soon, the videos also came out well, although because of our location, the little camera mic was overwhelmed by the prominence of Phil in the mix on more than a few notes.

THE PHOENIX HAS RISEN.

Bow before her Holy Muse and participate.
This is a Calling...

Just a note to say that during Alligator, the gals sang the old back-up vocal: "Burn down the Fillmore, gas the Avalon." Fun stuff!

Us blues

You're very kind to give me a shout out over our brief encounter outside the venue re: my divorce and Next Time.

Yes, it totally worked for me ... and it's very cool that you remembered. Looked for you and your lady after the 1st set, but you know THAT thing ... look for me...... I'll be in a tie-dye and I have grey hair.

Thanks Larry!

holy cow! Just got home from the pair in CO.
This band is the real deal.. thunder and lightning included!!!
We had killer seats both nights, direct center behind the board about 15th row up.
Sound was perfect!
Setlists from fantasyland!!
Bliss, Bliss, and more Bliss!!!
far better than words can tell.

Now, if only the band could schedule a few shows at the Frost and Greek!
May 25, 26, & 27 at Stanford and 29, 30 & 31 in Berkeley would work really, really nicely for me!

Wow. My fourth Furthur show and there is nothing that would even begin to describe what I witnessed this night in Broomfield.

There just is not a way to describe how in sync, on fire, and just mindblowingly good this group is. It feels like they have been playing for 25 years with the way they vibe together, and I hope it goes on for a while longer.

Magnolia Mountain was an incredible new one for me, and I was blown away by it. Although my personal highlights were Sugaree, Morning Dew, and DARK STAR. Encore was incredible, and really brought the building down ;)

Since we can't change out posts, i'd like to clarify, and (thank god its) briefly, Weir doesn't set ticket prices, that was bs. Weir did damn well the whole night, they all did, they're Dead serious about the music, even though their m.o. is jazz improv. in a many genre encompassing rock show vehicle. that being said, what was typed out, earlier, was judgmental, condemning and retracted. i figure the world is full of condemnation, i've only got so much time and energy in my life, and in my day, its a finite declining balance, and i did not mean to sound either judgmental or condemning of this gift of music, especially in the days we're currently in, of immense, towering, great waves of change now impacting the human family.
thx. peace.

2 questions:

Dominic, you couldn't share could you how you met JK?

And second, did anyone hear or see anything at all about the Furthur in studio performance at the radio station KBCO in Boulder, on Thursday 3.4 sometime?

I would have L-O-V-E-D to have been there for that, or at least heard it over the radio. They call them Studio C performances or concerts, they're usually relatively short, and take a while to setup and tear down from, but the one Phil & Friends laid down March 08 at KBCO was, as usual for these Dead family bands, truly magic. And really inspired.

I'm enjoying everyone's comments and reviews.
How would one suggest to give a gift of thanks for the inspiration and years of bliss to the band members, in this case Bob and/or Phil? And I mean a legal, allowed, benign gift from what I've heard. A close buddy was raving about this the other day, I said I'd ask.

Go Furthur Go.

I met JK too! After picking up my cd's on Sat night I was heading for the exit and there he was, standing all by himself. I walked over, introduced myself, shook his hand and thanked him for a positively incredible couple of nights. That was the perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

BTW, did anyone have trouble with disc 1 of the 3/6 SBD cd's? Mine begins skipping during track 3 and then plays nothing beyond that. Discs 2 and 3 are fine.

I had a problem with an earlier show cd behaving like that and they mailed me a replacement 2 days after I emailed the support addy provided.
