show started more-or-less on time with the hi-hos opening. nice alt.country pop act (2 guitarists and a vocalist) not bad definitely entertaining.

imaad wasif, up next. played through his set with andy garcia on drums and todd cook on bass. played longer than expected to calls for more from the crowd.

purportedly, dead meadow hadn't even left LA until something like 5:15pm--a long way from santa cruz county to be sure and had trailer problems along the way (always an adventure in moving).

fortunately or otherwise an unscheduled solo performer took the empty stage and played singer-songwriter stuff for a spell.

finally, about two hours after wasif and his band left the stage, dead meadow arrived and set up in about 20 minutes to start their set about 1:20 AM playing until 2:30AM.

In keeping santa cruz (county) weird, a tattooed "stripper" in a tube dress shook and shimmied her tail in front of the crowd dancing on the floor in front of the stage.
then she got up onstage and continued her antics. drummer seemed somewhat amused. guitarist less so as she showed everyone in the place her g-string and a bit more. eventually one of the workers pushed her offstage and back into the crowd, taking her by surprise to a gentle thank you from the lead guitarist. he decided to encourage people to dance all they want, just not on the stage. a bit later brookdale inn & spa's manager could be seen trying to remove the stripper from between the band and the audience to little success, as soon afterward she would not be denied and was back onstage doing her thing in front of the guitarist this time. looked to me like the same woman who pushed her off the stage earlier grabbed the "stripper" by her waist and threw her over the woman's shoulder carrying her out--not to be seen again.


hard to fault dead meadow, but two hours keeping most of the audience stuck in the bar's lounge can lead to things getting out of hand, guess they always will.

Band sounds interesting although that clip is so distorted, very cool light show.Was that the house light? The girl was a hottie for sure lol. Sort of reminded me of the girls who used to dance for the Butthole Surfers
