That was a super fun show and a great place to see music. More bands should play there. Fun to see you Emily.
Beautiful day all around! Rancho Nicasio is a nice little out of the way spot, perfect for a sunday afternoon picnic, enough shade to keep everyone happy with plenty of room for blankets! Family friendly doesn't even begin to describe it, lots of families with kids running around. The woman at the front gate was not so friendly, but there were plenty of ways around her.
Great double bill, Poor Man's Whiskey played a fun opening set, got everyone warmed up nicely. They opened with Rocky Top-joined by Nat on drums They played a rocking Death Valley Ass too.
Butter's set is about as good as it gets, they compiled the setlist by way of request before the crowd arrived. I put my request in 'Hey Emilie' by the Mother Hips, but they don't know it, so it became Song in a Can, it didn't make the final cut though. I should have asked for Flask
Return Someday>Desert Rat has been my favorite combo for a while, two of the songs that let the band get out there the furthest and Eli on Theremin was great, he really took it out into space, he's one of the best live theremin players I've ever seen, really puts some of the others to shame. The Summertime Gal>Walls of Time sandwich is giving the Desert Rat a run for it's money these days though. They did it at YarmonyGrass and it only got better yesterday! A sublime combination!
Birds and the Bees a capella to close it, the only thing that could have been better would be to follow it with 'and we bid you good night'...but really, that's a minor complaint in an otherwise perfect day!
Here's a couple pictures...
PMW kicking it off acoustic
The kids were very interested in my knitting...
Some juggling happened...
Perfect!!
Those kids just loved you Emily.
Nice venue,BBQ was great, great audience, great bands and only 20 minutes from Tomales Bay for swimming.
However the staff could be a little more friendly to the tourists.
my favorite venue to see a show !!!!!!!!!!
only 10 mintues from home
but of course harvest got in the way...
