What a fun night! The band was Bryan Horne (bass), Aaron Redner (mando, fiddle), Erik Yates (Banjo, lap slide, flute, acoustic guitar), and Chris Haugen (acoustic, electric and lap slide guitars). They had Kate Gafney sit in for a couple tunes, she sang Ode to Billy Joe--she had the perfect bluesy voice for it! Gotta love the southern gothic and she kinda looked like Gloria There were a couple Butter tunes in there--Guns or Butter among them.
The second set turned into a sing along with the crowd of about a dozen in a half circle in front of the band, they came off the stage and played acoustic on the 'dance floor'...they opened the set with Sexy Bakery Girl--fast becoming my new favorite
Then it got real fun with Mr. Charlie and Deep Elem. As one girl said to me 'what would we do without the grateful dead' We got a few bluegrass tunes, Billy and the Low Ground--then it was time to move cars for street cleaning, BCH being one of them--but the band continued without him, they did a song by Chris, Bungalow...real fun jam, Aaron and Erik were hearing it for the first time right along with the crowd as they played it, by the end they were grooving! The night ended with Ride Me High, Shady Grove and Rock Me Mama.
This intimate little picking session was a treat, so glad I motivated to get out of the house for it. Big fun all around
Is BCH a person?
