Can't wait~
me neither
Hope Joe Russo is feeling better.
Think of me while you're there tonight :-)
Seems like a lot of folks are under the weather...
Will do happykaren. A few folks seem to have gotten the wookie flu at Angel's Camp.
Less than 12 hours to go. Just gotta get some work done first and then I'll be ready to shuffle my feet!
I've said it before but it's worth repeating: a huge THANK YOU to the band for treating us to these amazing gigs. I've seen about 400 GD, JGB, PLF, Ratdog and Furthur shows over the last 30 years and these are among my very favorites. Muchas Garcias!
Right on Deacon. See you tonight.
((((JOE RUSSO)))
I'm Ready...I'm Ready...I'm Ready!!
Be sure to greet the Steven Spielberg look alike at tonight's show. His name is Winnie and he hasn't missed a Furthur rehearsal yet.
looking forward to a roof-raiser to close out the trio of shows tonight. deacon, i'll see you on the porch before the show kicks in. ;-)
i'll echo the sentiment expressed eloquently by deacon and others...HUGE thanks is due to the band for making shows like these happen. it's just an incredible treat to experience this band in such an intimate setting, deliberately and conscientiously undersold, staffed with friendly accommodating folks. i feel very, very lucky and appreciative.
Walk together little children,
You don't ever have to worry.
Through this world of trouble
We gotta love one another.
Let's take our fellow man by the hand,
Try to help him to understand.
We will all be together for ever and ever
When we make it to the promised land.
Joe Russo has strep throat and is super sick. We may get a guest drummer tonight. We love ya Joe!
Hey Rob, are you in tonight?
You said something to me the other night that was really nice, and I made a joke out of it, which is usually what I do (no comment on the quality of the jokes), but in case I don't see you soon, that was a very cool & kind thing to say. You're A-OK in my book.
Shit, do I have to drag my ass all the way to Marin AGAIN tonight? Oh well, sacrifices have to be made I guess.
Yes sir, thank God I am in tonight. Joe Russo is in tonight too.
You are Grade-A buddy, thanks for the note. I understand.
Have fun you all tonight. Haven't been able to grab any rehearsal tickets. Has anyone heard if they will add some more of these? The temptation to try to get in in very great, but somehow, I am holding back from drivin on down anyway. Don't want to ruin it for the future. Peace!
Scalc is OK in my book too!! XOXO
I also want to extend the positive brilliance of these rehearsals. For myself, it seems I cannot attend without a sense of giddy child-like excitement and the gracious mature sense of extreme gratitute. I fluctuate between the two emotions.....hourly.
have a great time zoners !! and dont forget to keep us posted!!
Just stopped by the venue to check out the scene. There was already a respectable sized line formed, and I heard them sound-checking "West LA Fadeaway."
Glad to say that Joe Russo is in the house
Thanks in advance to Jahk2, our man on the scene with the real time set list updates.. PEACE!

I just checked my memory and indeed back in January people were posting pixs of pre-printed up setlists from the rehearsal gigs.
Is that no longer the case? Are these boys back to flying without a net?

Well, I was close on the Roses, but not quite there... been awhile since a Dylan tune, probably Maggies Farm next...
Ballad of a Thin Man would be a nice Dylan tune to throw in the mix

I called all Furthur Fest setlists too.. it was a banner weekend for that... got tripped up on the encores on Fri and Sun though...

While you were gone
these spaces filled with darkness
The obvious was hidden
With nothing to believe in
the compass always points to Terrapin
The sullen wings of fortune beat like rain

Our leader tonight
thanks for the pics Rob. what a show, huh? wow.
such a different Furthur than we saw at the Fox theater in Oakland playing their first shows not even a year ago.
crazy!
these guys just keep getting better and better.
Lookout east coasters, they're coming your way!
I'm not sure what to say, which is saying something.
You never know what you're gonna' get with this band, especially at these rare personal events.
There is no way to describe what it was like to be in that little room tonight.
These guys weren't REAHEARSING tonight.
Bam. Pow. WHAP!!!
Good stuff Maynard.
And our boy Joe was feeling MUCH BETTER tonight!
Man was he ever.
And who the hell was that guy on bass? DAMN!
Luck is something that will fall in your lap, it's something that's hard to control, but it's fleeting and you have to put yourself in the right place at the right time to catch it when it comes by.
Go
see
this
band.
Now that's a set I could get behind, very nice.
Man...I'd really like to hear this one. I don't expect we'll see these tapes leaked, huh?
Anyone notice that Phil's new Modulous is a tad smaller then his old ones? I'm assuming that after he went back to them he noticed the difference in weight from the Ritter and wanted a lighter model.
Still feeling a little bit blissed-ered from last night, but I suspect Friday will fly by swiftly enough. Last night's gig was the one to see, to be sure. The full Terrapin was excellent! Lots of good moments throughout (and generally louder from the start). The 3-song run from Terrapin thru Franklins was a serious hoe-down!
Find yourself a sweet band that's gonna treat you with style!
What a way to climax an incredible run of rehearsals. I hope they plan on doing it again only next time at a venue with some vibe.
This room didn't even have a bathroom!
You had to go outside and into the restuarant next door leaving many to just go out in the parking lot.
Nice Photos Rob !!!
Wow!!!
Although I wasn't in last night, I'm super glad you guys got the full Terrapin! You see the first time the dead played it was on my birthday in '77 (to open the show) and yesterday was my fathers birthday. Was feeling introspective all day yesterday as we lost "Pop's" March 11, 2009. This set looks amazing...thanks for the updates y'all.
Still remember my first Terrapin like yesterday: '84 (set II) Alpine: Sampson - Cold Rain - Playin' - China Doll - Drums - Terrapin - Throwing Stones - NFA - Lovelight - NFA E: Brokedown.
On the way into Terrapin Bobby leans over to Jerry and says "lets go into Terrapin (which completely blew my mind 'cause I was dying to hear it since getting on the bus -Bobby's mic picked it up and broadcasted through the PA).
If you have the recording check out the Throwing Stones-Not Fade Away - at the end of Thrownin' Brent lets out this soul curdling scream (ala Pink Floyd) and they launch into NFA Bamp Baaa, Ba Bamp Ba! ...Over the flucking top. Needless to say the Brokedown finish was absolutely perfect. The night sky and stars that night were especially clear and glistening...
Was at Mountain Air over the weekend, during Jackie's set was thinking, you know we are all "hear" for one reason - The Music. Thank God for good 'ol Rock and Roll, thank God for all of you freaks that let your love light shine, and thanks to the Boyz (and Sunshine) for searching for the sound all these years! It's truly a pleasure to be with you all when the sounds are rippin' that special place in space and time.
To this a virtual toast to you all and those spaces between!
JSR
GREAT post JSR, thanks... I have heard the Alpine 84 recording and know a bit about that. Good read.
Good Lord that show was awesome. It wasn't quite as sprawlingly epic and wtf as the PL70 show, but in terms of pure concentrated goodness, it was probably the best of the four Furthur shows I've seen (second night at the Fox, 12/30 and PL70 being the others.) It's amazing how far the band has come in nine months in terms of chemistry. I remember at the Fox show there being a lot of awkward moments when Bob and JK would look at each other like they weren't sure who was supposed to be singing. Even at the 12/30 show I felt like there were moments of aimlessness when they lost the thread of their jams. There was none of that last night. Everything flowed from start to finish.
great show out of the gate, sound was perfect, lagunitas IPA and a smoking patio.....peaceful valley and terrapin top notch.
>>>> lagunitas IPA
Which was admirably fresh. They also had 22-ounce micro-brews on sale in glass bottles, which I thought was kind of funny... I've never seen that at a show. I would have partaken but I'd already had several beers at the Seafood Peddler bar before the show, and I had to drive. Not to mention I couldn't imagine dancing and going crazy up front while holding such a huge bottle... I'd just be a menance.
Zoners have covered the night well in numerous aspects~
>>>Zoners have covered the night well in numerous aspects<<<
And no one got stabbed in the back!
Great talking with you Rob. Are you going to either of the DNB shows at the Palm in a couple of weeks?
Damn! Looks real, real nice. Where's that guy that was bitching about money grabs, and paying to watch practice now? "What are we talking about here, practice, not even a game, we're talking about PRACTICE" lol
Great to have the chat too New Lance. I am sorry to be missing Nelson, but I am on the Furthur bus back home for Rochester & Brooklyn.
Hope we can connect again before not too long.
