10,000 fire fighters are congregating in Bridgeport tomorrow to mourn the loss of 2 Bridgeport fire fighters. Traffic is going to be nuts. Get there early if you can.
Being broadcast by WPKN 89.5 FM.
WPKN.org for the stream.
just called WPKN and they said the on line stream only does the green stage and not the main stage which will be broadcast on the airwaves...but not cyberspace...bummer
Correction!! Just called Gathering office and they claim that the show tonight WILL be streamed on wpkn.org!!!
Hey now. The Gathering of the Vibes website has an extensive archive of videos from past years.
http://www.gatheringofthevibes.com/videos
Does anyone know if they will offer any live or delayed videos of this year's performances?
Thanks to all.

> Correction!! Just called Gathering office and they claim that the show tonight WILL be streamed on wpkn.org!!!
Sure about that? It seems the stream right now is just the "green" stage.....
The Green Stage performances end at 7:15 pm. It is our hope and understanding that at that point the stream will switch over to the Main Stage performances.
I hope so too, here in the Bay Area, my radio doesn't get the over the air broadcast! ;)

Expect a Golden Road opener, maybe a New Potato, Terrapin Suite, Dew,and Playin' for sure and maybe even a Franklin's with Ripple encore.
Have fun!, Thurs Nokia was SWEET.

Deadheadland reporting Furthur @ MSG November 20 & 21. Anyone hearing that? I'm psyched.
Furthur has announced 3 new dates:
November 19th: DCU Center - Worcester, MA
November 20th and 21st: Madison Square Garden, NYC
That just made my day, especially as I'm not at Vibes right now.
has anyone else heard a rumor about Halloween at Radio City...
right now wpkn.org is streaming last night's green stage set. It does not look good...
and the song that is streaming now I heard 2 hours ago on this stream
it is confirmed...no furthur stream tonight
no stream confirmed
bummed
hey folks taperrob has already posted some sets from today's GOTV
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/taperrob
Been listening to the web stream of WPKN. They are saying it was Further who nixed the idea of webcasting tonights show. WPKN was certainly stoaked about the idea as were many of us Heads. I would really be interested to know how this decision was arrived at. Very Bad decision in my opinion, actually hurts this Head quite a bit. Love To All!!!!!!
That sucks worse than a bad San Antonio burrito. The stream sounds great---whatever it is--- and I was really hoping to chill and listen....

Rob, except when they split it (last time played) - first 2 at All Good, then 2nd half in Philly - I like it split personally. Thinking more of a time constraint here

YEEEE HAAAAAA!!!! Thanks a million T-Rob!!!! Peace Out!
Just got home -- a great show all around -- nice way to honor Jerry.
Just finished listening. That was like super fantastic man! Thanx again taperrob!
very nice... the Terrapin Suite was an outstanding closer to a stellar show
big-time kudos to Taper Rob for bringing the music to us stay-at homes
Just rolled in First set had a stellar Jack Straw and the ending was awesome, best NFA I have seen them do so far.Duprees was excellent as well.
What a HUGE second set,I still like Philly Sunday over this one, but this was a close second The second set was played with so much heart and the band ripped it up. Best PITB I have seen them do, it was the complete song. Another outstanding Althea, although I would prefer this in the first set.
Wharf Rat was scorching and the jam out of it was sick. I heard Phil pulling at Speedway at one point. The He's Gone was perfect, they ended it beautifullly with the vocals and then stopped completely and then tore into Scarlet!!!!!
My goodness this by far and away was clearly the best one I have heard since Jerry passed away. Bobby wanted to be louder in it and when he got his volume up, they hit an amazing peak. The jam out of it was sick and everyone wanted the Fire but to get another Killer Wheel had no complaints from me, nice transition into SOTM, we had the orange half moon with Jupiter to the south east, so that was very nice.
John had a scorching ending solo and Phil dropped some heavy notes, then another surprise with going into Help on the Way, Bobby started it and then shared vocals with John, it worked very well.
The Slipknot! was off the hook it was the best one I have seen them play so far, really well developed and John was huge on it.
Franklin's rage!!!! John stared to run out of steam toward the end but he fired off some amazing runs and pushed it over the top.Jeff was relentless the whole night, at times on the Baby grand it got to be alitte too much at times, sometimes a tasteful solo is better than a strecthing to the point of excess.
I was thinking maybe Fire for the encore, but you knew right away it was going to be something different and it was perfect.
What a way to end the day, completely jaw dropping, Phil was out of control, as was Joe during At a Siding. Phil dropped some huge bombs during the Terrapin Reprise.
Band was stoked with this set in the bag, and Bobby was right there in the thick of it the entire night, except for the above mention flub in Ramble on Rose, he was right on the entire night.
Thank you Furthur and GOTV
I will post some pics later today.
Over and out
Cool "vibe" as always. Maybe a little oversold compared to last time but we managed a good spot with a regular ticket. Phil likes to play Ken Hayes festivals. Check out Bobby, he really shined I thought.

so pissed i missed this one
setlist looks amazing
must listen to stream
Just got back to NJ following a "breakfast of champions" in Chinatown on the way back from Vibes.
I thought it was a sweet show. Absolutely nothing to complain about...well, it was kind of humid.
The Vibes was its usual wonderful self. Hi quality $6 beer, nice food and vendor selection, lots of room to dance, great sound, lights and...vibes. Wish I could have come earlier and stayed later but was happy to have seen Furthur. Was glad I decided to go at 5:45. After the 7/29 show at the Nokia, how could I not drive 2 hours to see them again on a Friday I was taking off anyway?!?! Silly me for even thinking of skipping it.
Have to say I loved the show and imagine the Terrapin encore was a nod to Ken Hayes for keeping the Vibe(s) alive.
^^^jackstraw is sweet
Is it me, or are many of the songs played at a pace suited for someone stoned on quaaludes? The musicianship is clearly there, but the energy seems lacking. Plodding, slogging, trudging seem to be apt adjectives (or add an -ly and you have the adverb for how they played).
No, its not you. Everything is played slower nowadays...Why? I dont know, but Ive heard that Bob prefers it this way. Personally, I dont like the slower pace.
thanks for all the comments, reviews, and setlists
I'm only 50 and I'm doing many things a bit slower; perhaps their age plays into the pace, daa... Great show, great fun, what could be better, IT IS STILL HAPPENING! GRATEFUL.
I believe the reasoning behind the slower pace is the thought that the broader you make the base, the more time you have to build & higher you can build the peak.
I prefer the slower pace, much prefer.
It comes off (to me) as Deliberate, muscular, powerful yet still very delicate.
Perfect for my taste.
Why be in a hurry?
I say Keep Taking your sweet time.
The pacing is thought out.
Sheesh at 70 Sinatra was just above a croak
Dylan at 69 is a complete croak.
Perhaps with this thoughtfulness Lesh&Weir will be gigging strong at 80
...don't much like the slower pace myself....
I can speak of the physical exertion element of live music performance and we all can't stay 31 forever
catch my drift?
The slower pace alows them to play more notes per bar
Amazing, I wish I was at this show. I wish i was at all of them, but especially this one. Rob thanks for the stream.
On pacing yeah some songs it was there. The Jack Straw was almost played in the faster tempo we all prefer much more so than other versions I have heard them play, but honestly the Slipknot! was played like it was on Blues for Allah or the Great American Music Hall, how can you complain about that?
Scarlet was played like it was in '74
Ok Picture time peeps. I could not get close enough to Furthur so I got all crap when they came on but I hope you enjoys these.
Kimock was fun, I only saw half his set and he never really totally unleashed, not sure I will see him again. They did this Hip Hop tune that worked well at the end. His son is a good drummer for only being 21.
Sharon Jones, easily the hardest working artist the entire day, man she was a force to be reckoned with.
Big surprise of the day was Caravan of Thieves, they were from Bridgeport, and put on a really fun show, they play self described " Gypsy swing" and vamp it up with doing tunes Bohemian Rhapsody, Psycho Killer, You are my sunshine They are very talented and put on a great set, plus the girl Carrie is sweet, married to the the lead guitarist, and had the hottest boots on of the day.
I'll buy some of the suggestions as to why the pace is so slow, and surely I don't want this band or any other one to go speed metal on a song. But at times--to my ears--the pace kills the song.
Age certainly could be a factor, but half the band is pretty darn young.
Some more
The only Futhur shots that came out fair at best
Eyes
He's Gone
Terrapin
lots of nice stuff coming from behind that kit and those keys!
Oh yeah I saw John Molo there as well walking around in the late afternoon, gave him a shout when he walked by.
beautiful photos!!!!!!! nice work
Too theoretical misingfinger. They don't build higher peaks.
I'll bet the root cause of the slower tempos is primarily hormonal, but there are other factors as well.
They're playing slow for the same reason that Bob Dylan has sung like shit for big chunks of his career...because no one whose opinion they value tells them "hey, you're dragging the tempos too much and it sounds like you're old and tired (which they clearly are not). Maybe you should listen to one of your shows at home and try dancing to it and see if you might not want to put some more zip into the tempos."
Can it still be enjoyable? Yes. I absolutely love the current music. And so did the folks sitting in their camp chairs during the Scarlet Begonias last night. Big smiles all around. But this music can do more that that. Do the slower tempos help the songs fulfill their transportaional and unifying potential? No.
Likewise, I think this is the same root cause of Bob' Weir's insatiable quest to "improve" classical GD repertoire with his inane tinkering with the lyrics and new vocal "stylings and interpretations." It's because Jerry isn't there to say, "what the fuck is that shit, Weir?" I'm not saying he doesn't have the right as an artist. I'm just saying he should put the brush down and move on to the next painting. But I digress.
Also, I think there was or is a conscious but mistaken belief that they're helping the new guys to "learn the material" by taking them slower. If I'm right then it's well intentioned but utter bullshit. Chimenti needs to take it slower to get it down? Come on. Unleash the Kraken!
Look, this is totally esoteric and probably won't make too much sense but I think there's some sort of truth that's worth at least trying to relate. I ultimately believe that songs are containers of magical power. I formulated this theory in part as a result of seeing the Zen Tricksters with Barracco, Mattson, Chirco & Black make the same magic as the Grateful Dead with those tunes. I would posit that it is the musicians' "jobs" to access the power contained in the structure of each song.
This idea is hard to grasp, but it comes down to issues of will and intent on the part of the musicians. If the intent on the part of the musicians is to focus on "playing together" and not making mistakes, that's playing to not lose. Trying to serve the songs to the best of their abilities is playing to win. This may lead to musical disagreements as they differ in how to serve the song, but the resolution of these differences will lead to higher peaks due to the passion with which each member is trying to get to the essence of the song. Again, very esoteric, I know.
An illustration of his concept that might make it clearer would be around transitions between songs. If the transitions happen organically that's cool. If there's too much focus on trying to "play together" they can sound forced. I loved when Jerry would just start playing a song out of nowhere and in half a measure everyone else was heading for the song and in 2 measures they were all playing the song. Not that I necessarily prefer quick transitions, but I'm just illustrating what can happen when you're trying to serve the song. Who cares how you get to it? It's what you do with the song once you start playing it that counts.
That doesn't seem to happen to the same extent when the focus is on "playing together" and they're trying to over engineer everyone jumping in to the start of the song at exactly the right moment. I think the slower tempos are a symptom of what I consider this misplaced focus on "playing together."
The truth of the song, the peak, is beckoning. When they're all tripping over one another, scrambling for the peak, that intent creates a certain tone that compels the audience to want to try to get there with them. When they're looking back at forth at one another and saying "alright, are you ready to take the next step up the mountain? OK on 3, 1...2...3 take a step together...now" the focus is on the process and not the goal. It's on the playing together instead of getting to the peak of the song. It's methodical and deliberate instead of being an authentic, passionate quest for the truth of the song and, as such, it doesn't suck the crowd into the psychedelic vortex.
I admit it's highly theoretical and purely subjective, but I wonder if anyone else can relate to this perspective. BTW, I don't want to come across as dissatisfied with the fine music the band is putting out now. I'm also not saying that I'm right and that anyone is wrong to like the slower tempos. I'm just yakking and ranting about something I'm passionate about.
Yeah, and Lazy River Road was a real Garcia uptempo firecracker in the 90's. Take me back to 1976 when songs were really fast!!
This is all B.S. Typing this while listening to After Midnight from 7/9. The sophistication and energy in their playing today is outstanding.
I danced my ass off in Chicago back in March. They can play at whatever tempo they feel like to create their art, their mojo, and the overall experience. Just don't get too lazy of a memory when it comes too the tempos Garcia played at. Any ol' JGB show will demonstrate that.
Oh, of course. No one is saying faster is better in and of itself. It just seems like some of the tunes would benefit from being played faster. And what I'm trying to get to is that those songs "want" to be played at a certain tempo. (I know, who am I to say?)
But that's kind of what I am trying to convey. It's not about what anyone wants or would or could enjoy, it's about finding the truth at the heart of the song and unlocking the magic. Tempo can be a critical part of the equation. What's optimal for Heaven's Door will be different from what's optimal for Johnny B. Goode. And I'm not saying that there can't be a range of tempos for each song. But just like listening to a tape of a hot show that is running a little slow, playing the songs a little too slow can also prevent the achievement of maximum results.
Actually WeWantPhil, some of us love the transitions (when played somewhat slow with teases of what's to come next) just as much as the songs themselves. And furthurmore (yes, pun intended) the band has improved on the transitions since last winter, making them even more enjoyable. I mean would you want them to abruptly stop China Cat and then roughly start Rider? Or that between Scarlet and Fire? Or even a pair of songs that aren't always paired together. Those transitions can also takes us on a musical journey in and of itself.
What about when they changed some of their older songs from their original tempo and slowed them way down like "Friend of the Devil" and "Cold Rain & Snow?" How did that effect their "magic?"
Listen to any good bluegrass band and how they play FOTD at super up-tempo? Which version has more Mojo? Or do the have the same?
So does this mean you guys did not like the pictures???
As for the slower tempos half the kids, half my age, can barely dance an entire set LMAO.
I mean WewantPhil did you listen to that Scarlet that was posted on this thread yet?
I agree with Dan about the transitions they are getting better
I guess most of the others reviews will come after Sunday.
I don't like the slow tempo that bobby always seems to fall into. if the song is a rocker then i want to hear it up tempo and rockin'. For other songs slow tempo works great but not for all
Great photos Ted, Thank You!
Wow, you guys are pretty deep. Interesting reading and insightful perspectives. From where I sit, I find this band getting better and better and, oh yea, did I say better. No mention here that they're playing shows with pre-established setlists (for the most part) - A very profound change from those daze of old. This way of putting songs together may at times force things a bit but for the most part they pull it off in a most wonderful fashion. The transitions from song to song are usually very smooth with some nice jams that are somewhat short, to the point and at times pushing a fevered pich. Jeff C on the keys is usually the one who will extend himself and bring it to the edge, and I now find JK taking risks and hanging it way out there as well. Russo is beyond great on the drum kit. No one plays chords the way Wier does and Phil is Phil, a true master. The backing vocals fill things out very nicely. My two cents for what its worth. But like I've been saying all along "IT" IS STILL HAPPENING. Now, I think I'll go take a ride on the Harley and see what the next bend in the road has in store for me; there is nothing like those bends in the road, keeps things fresh, new, and surprising. Peace
Terrific evening with family and friends. favorite part of last night was the estimated>eyes>NFA. I have not heard that combo since the GD days. Believe it or not it could have been as long ago as Maine 1988 which was a Touch, Hey Pockey way, LL rain >Estimated>eyes>Drumz or it could have been a Shoreline Ampetheater show somehwere in like 1993. If you recall the GD started doing eyes>estimated and reversed the combo in the early 1990s like in summer tour 1990 at Three Rivers stadium and Foxboro. Sound was great all night, nice Scarlet and sweet, sweet Jack Straw. Next year they should 2 nights. I also agree with an ealrier poster here who mentioned Ken Hayes as the reason behind Terrapin encore. Ken's company is called Terrapin presents or something , I forget. He he is very tight with a fiend fo mine and with all of the work he has done to execute the vibes year after year, I do see Terrapin as a nod to the entire Vibes organization and extended family. Hence, the Terrapins (turtles) mounted each year in artistic display. I WANT GREEK THEATER BERKELY, CA!! COME ON LETS DO IT!!
This was a great show! They just nailed one good GD song after another. I know what you are saying about pace, but the band more than made up for it with breadth. I ended up in front which is not usual m.o. I prefer to be by the soundboard, and as I danced my way back during terrapin, the sound became better and better. The crowd up close was an interesting mix, and there was several major commotions. During the first set a guy completely twisted his ankle and was handed over the fence to the area where super premium ticket holders stood. Medics had him propped up there for like three songs, and doped him heavy with painkillers. By the way, to the guy with a prostethic arm and a "one show at a time" sticker - thanks for helping that dude out. Sober heads rock!
Gripes - There were some people not there to listen, they just talked and talked. One guy was echoing lyrics to SOTM like his girlfriend had a hearing problem. Why do people yell shit at Phil during donor rap? Show some respect! But these and other mini events come with the territory.
The main thing was Furthur. They were on top of their trip, and even held a band meeting stage right for like 20 minutes before the show. During the set break, Phil came over to talk to the sound guy. Anyway, if you love the grateful dead then this show was for you. Bobby let us know not to worry bout him now, and he even went for some 80s style HYAHs during Estimated. The eyes was crisp and JK sounded very fluid. Phil was dropping bombs all night. I was worried the crowd was going to NFA chant throughout entire set break, fortunately that didn't happen. What can I say? Playin Althea Wharf Rat He's gone scarlet wheel SOTM HSF - c'mon. This was the shit. I fuckin loved it. Yeah, I expected Fire, and wanted to hear Truckin after he's gone, or maybe Sugar Mag, but so what? We got a killer Help Slip Franklin's. SOTM nearly made me cry. To me, He's Gone is the quintessential dead song. No covers or money4gas all night. The Terrapin Suite encore was exceptional. I am glad they let JK sing Terrapin and Wharf Rat.
Bobby, Phil, and entire Furthur Band - Thank you. The vibes was so happening this year. There was a huge message in the music. I am so grateful to be alive and still hearing this music.
Ratdog = slow as shit
P&F = fast tempo, lightning quick changes
Furthur = somewhere in the middle?
My guess is the slower tempos are Bob's idea. That said, I just listened to the Scarlet from last night and it was faster than the Scarlet I heard at MCU, which was actually a little difficult to dance to, if you can believe it. So maybe they are picking up the pace a little. I sure hope so, some of these songs benefit from an uptempo, and conversely seem to suffer from a slow tempo, as evidenced by Ratdog all these years.
>>>My guess is the slower tempos are Bob's idea.
or just his own, inner slowing down with age...
>>>>>the focus is on the process and not the goal
Some are more interested in the journey than the destination.
"the focus is on the process and not the goal. It's on the playing together instead of getting to the peak of the song." is like saying "who cares about plans, it's the results I need." For me things work better when I have plans and don't
plan results; including playing and experiencing music.
I believe there are many truths and psychedelic vortexes in these tunes.
I was talking w/ Steve Parish at a Moon Alice show in Hanover, NH recently. Recounted the story when we were in a backstage room at the Felt Forum smoking Ice Nine (Mountain Girls herb) when a rather wild eyed lad burst in and ran up to Garcia thanking him profusely for DarkStar, the nite before. Something about energy discs and Jer lifting off the stage, turning to this kid and the kid transporting inside Garcias head on the beams of light coming from Jerry's eyes. This guy was just gushing "How beautiful it was in there" to which Jer replied, "Oh cool, drop in anytime." Typical. Big Steve told me exactly what was just posted; that Bobby wants to slow things down and Phil wants to speed em up. And that at New Years or Phils birthday (i forget) during a tune Molo was told by Weir to "slow this down" and a moment later by Phil to "crank this thing up!"
To me this is creative tension and the band AND audience has fun w/ it (for the most part)
For me and Furthur It's back. Never thought I'd see It again. I'm profoundly grateful.
On tempo, I wonder who's idea it was in 1976 to slow FOTD waaayyyy dooowwwwnnnn. Jerry's?? Absolutely. Slowing down tempo is fine and totally changes the song. Te up tempo FOTD we have seen from Furthur is totally Phil as that is the way Phil and Friends did it for years. Many songs have been slowed down such as scarlket--remember the quick "74 versions and then the slinky late 70's versions. Eyes and Morning dew and many other songs have been played with (not to make a pun) over time. I think that it makes it very interesting for the musicians to change it up.
Another thing about last night and Nokia--so many peole just there ot drink and get drunk and be loud and totally anoying. Its probably just me as I will be 40 in November. Everyine is certainly having fun and that is cool, but somehtings I just can not deal with anymore and rude and inconsiderate behavior is one of them.
Jackson Browne was the one who suggested slowing down FOTD. Can't remember where I learned that...
Actually Garcia heard Kenny Loggins slow ballad version and decided to play it that way. Dennis Mcnaly wrote in his book "A long strange Trip" that Weir has been been a fan of slow tempos for a long time but he couldn't get Bill or Mickey to bring down the tempos. He was so upset about it once that he refused to play an encore
A few thoughts. I've seen Furthur over 20 times now, on both coasts, and love them. First, the tempo some nights has been fine and other nights it is definitely slow. They are older. It would be nice if Joe would just crank it up a little when he feels that. Ballads need to be slow. Second, Phil needs to let John sing Eyes and Franklin's. His singing diminishes those songs greatly. Lastly, initially I was really against Bobby singing Jerry's tunes, but I think he has gotten better at most of them and I applaud him for that. The one exception, Standing on the Moon. I listened to the stream of it from the other night and it was boring. Every other version I've heard has been the same. It is such a great song. Let John sing it.
"Second, Phil needs to let John sing Eyes and Franklin's."
Don't agree at all. Phil beams with joy and heart when he sings. It makes me very, very happy to see him close his eyes and get lost in the words. One of things missing with most singers is the sincerity, and I never feel it is amiss when Phil does his thing. I don't care who can sing the notes best or better. Phil's vulnerable, trusting energy is entirely beautiful.
Thanks all for your thoughtful posts - I really enjoyed reading them!
For the most part I agree with Wewantphil. With 23 shows under my belt, I'm really enjoying Furthur, and I'm greatly looking forward to seeing 8 of the 10 west coast shows coming up.
But it does sound like the band is being very careful about playing together instead of very free. The music doesn't play this band enough. That being said, I have been so busy lately that I haven't been able to give the recent tour a proper listen, so this may be improving.
In regard to the slower pacing, I dislike it most of the time. For me it does take away from the power of the music. In fact, I wish they would play with more power in general. ***Playing with pace and power and playing with depth are not mutually exclusive*** Again, this may not have been so much of an issue on this recent tour, and I'm looking forward to listening.
No offense meant to anyone, but attributing Bobby's desire for a slower pace to age is silly. He's 63, not 83, and obviously still physically capable of playing music at pace. The spoken word vocals and out-of-step vocal "stylings" don't work with faster pacing, which I'm guessing is the reason he wants to slow things down.
Because I dislike his current vocal approach, I would prefer that Bobby sing none of the Jerry tunes, with the exception of Days Between. The emotion he invests in that song is overwhelming.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JERRY!!!
This was a very fun evening. I had a day pass and got in at 7ish- food then the friend find game andsome beers and we were off and running pretty quickly.
At first the show was spacious and navigatable. But once the band started the throngs of people came into the field. This was the most full I recall vibes being-I grew up in CT and love this event. It got a little crowded up front and in a 50 yard radius from the stage it was tight. Lots of 'kids' no offense, just gabbing and chatting and lots of drunk chicks. This was not ideal, so I rolled it off to the side; stage right. From here the tunes were fine and the band was tight- had to be the largest crowd of the tour by far at say 25,000.
I really enjoyed this show and the lax atmosphere of the festival meant much less security- none infact. Lots of artwork and clothing and food and nice brews which was exciting yet somewhat distracting to the traditional dead show type experience I have enjoyed over the last 23 years since that grateful night on March 26th 1987 when I saw my first show. To date, the hottest Cold rain of the post 70's era. My point in this review- great dead experience and great playing. If I had one disapointment, it was that I wanted the fire after scarlet and had heard the playin althea mix several times in the last year, including philly and Asbury Park. Final dissapointment, and I hate to beotch, but waaay to much talking going on. I know that sounds extremely controling, but getting away from loud 20 somethings who don't know how to handle drugs yet is difficult. Hell, I mastered lsd by the time I was 21 what is up with these kids? Seriously, festivals in general- not a great place to see a dead event. Highly enjoyable performance. Put that in Nokia and it tares the roof off. Fun time, great band-heart of gold band.
Peace all great summer...see ya in the fall!

Beer is the No. 1 dope of choice.
Alcohol rules the past 25 years.
It has been a real drag
thanks for the reviews !
Here's a couple more, if anyone's interested. Different camera (steadier); camera audio (not as punchy, maybe cleaner)

Not in the LEAST! Faithful fans spend money to hear the band they love and not a bunch of drunk meatheads who can't stop flapping their jaws for any reason.
I agree. If you don't want to listen to the music, hit the road! This problem has gotten significantly more annoying in the last 10 years. The funny thing is, there's plenty of time between songs, or during the set break, to talk to your friends. I have one friend who insists on talking during the music. I've told him that I just nod and smile at whatever he's saying, which I can't hear anyway, just so he'll stop talking. He still does it, can't help himself. At least he's not conducting a full conversation like my neighbors at the show sometimes are. It's ridiculous! Everyone's motto should be "Shut up and listen"!
I agree that talking during a song is NOT acceptable no matter what...but I didn't really have problems with people talking in my area during this show.
I was about five feet away from the stage, right between Phil and Bobby. Going into this concert, my two all-time favorite GD songs were "Eyes of the World" and "He's Gone" but I didn't think there was a chance in hell they'd play both at this show. Well...they played both and I think those 3 hours were literally the peak of my life. Awesome stuff, glad there's some good people on here who share the enthusiasm!
