The key to last night's success, imho WAS keeping jackie AWAY FROM THE ELECTRIC GUITAR!!!He is NOT a leader and should leave the REAL WORK to players that have the most chops; ie larry, or the deepest improv skills;barry sless to get the music where it should be. I have been on the bus since 67 and it can still get to where it needs to be; IF!

Same logic would have kept Weir away from the electric guitar.
He should have left it all up to Garcia.

I thought Jackie handled himself quite respectably Friday night & I'd say he actually plays the Blues better than the other two. Barry is not really a blues player and Larry always is a little bit too restrained when it gets into the bluesy end of things.

It's not all about chops and improv after all.

no Sless tonight.

Rumor of Warren.

In my opinion the key to a great show by this band is that they play as a band. The sound is balanced and they work as a team. Warren can dominate too much at times, but I love him, and whatever the lineup, I'll be there. Listening to Phil and his friends searching for the sound. Clearly this group of friends have found a great sound.

Besides, it's Puff's birthday. HE is the key to the show tonight! :-)
