psyched to see Celebration stays in the mix. Hope they bring that to Baltimore.
Sunset was real. Everyone was turned around looking at it when the band came onstage.
After they finished off DS/OO I was hoping they would finish Playin' and wrap it up w/ Rider - maybe tonight.
Not a single review so far. Did anyone on this board actually go?
no reviews?
Just spoke with my brother who is on his way back to portland...we're splitting the venue, he went last nite I'm going tonight.
His abbreviated Review:
Smoking First Set, all high energy and the Cumberland was off the chain.
Second Set Grate..Dark Star v1 had phil in full conductor mode, and big phil bomb into otherone v1 then after Ds v2 and into other one v2 his comment was that Phil "Worked Himself into a lather" . He said he dosen't thik he has ever seen Phil play the bass so hard and so fast before in his life (200+ Shows).
All in all he left "Quite Satisfied"
Side note: Very mellow crowd/security scene. Could have walked up to the rail at any time but chose the bleachers 8 rows up just to phil's side of the SBD...Light show dialed in ..nice trees behind the stage and the sound system was "pin drop perfect".
I'll have a first hand review of tonights show!
WoooooHoooooo!
Show was Awesome, Dark Star has to be the Highlight as well as huge Playing and China>Rider, I too have never seen Phil so giddy he was all over the DS, EYES and TOO, really thumpin the bass, Bobby's DS v2 was killer brought the mix in for the "Shall we go" and Phil was in completely uphoria when they did that... JOhn was just sick all night, NFA had his patented huge solos and of course the SHAkedown opener has everyone groovin, Russo was incredible ocotopuss, he kept stretching and rolling his arms behind his head like a gumby, Jefff was pretty tame all night look for him tonight to crank it up. Great show, the sky did look like that no joke before the show, truely spectacular and way cool security went right up the front....see you tonight
>>>>>>>>He said he dosen't thik he has ever seen Phil play the bass so hard and so fast before in his life (200+ Shows).
fuck yeah!!!!!!!
Dudes, there was a Pranster aftershow party last night. People are literally just getting to bed. Staring a a computer screen is not possible yet. WOOooOoOOt!
Best Birthday show ever!
Dave Lemieux is the guy that has @furthurband on Twitter
...great to see it being used as the social media of choice for the tour
@osorojotrading
tweet ya later freaks!
>>>>Show was Awesome, Dark Star has to be the Highlight as well as huge Playing and China>Rider
uummmmm..... They Didn't play I Know You Rider last night
Yeah, no Rider last night.
My first time seeing this incarnation and I was very impressed. So psyched they came to Eugene to play for us. Friends saved us some seats up close (thanks Ned and Sparky!) so all was good.
Shakedown was interesting, it was like they played it straight up and then put a different jam on the end with all contributing. Liked it a lot.
Spent Music and Celebration in beer line and hitting the honey buckets. Funny how a $6 micro at a show seems like a steal these days, take that back, it is not funny.
Rest of first set was all Tex Mex which I love. It seemed like they were hitting all my old favorites from Big River to Cumberland.
Bertha had a nice call and response jam between John and Chiamenti (sp?).
Never in my wildest dreams would I see any sort of set list like I saw in Set 2. Band was hot, lights on the trees behind the stage were getting very liquid like. When they went back into Other One it was just huge.
I had to hit the bucket again, so I went during Dark Star v1, it was almost spooky moving through the crowd at that point. People were zoning in!
Too top off the whole evening, we get an electrified Ripple. Only caught one Ripple in my lifetime back in Landover in '88, so I was happy.
I think I want to hear this one again it was that good.
Anyway, glad they came out strong last night. Thought they would have saved Bertha for tonight with all the rain we are going to have. See if we get anything for Kesey's bday tonight.
How do you write on this forum without it coming out looking like all single sentences?
Use punctuation?
Gary, try typing without using return 'til you're ready to start a new paragraph. I don't know why else you'd have "single sentences".
Best Furthur show for me since 9/20/09 at Fox in Oakland. Spaciest show yet,John was just off the hook, killing the jams, much better than night two in my opinion, and I listened to the first night's soundboard set 2 driving home to Chico today, after listening to both first and second discs soundboards after the show Thursday night, was up until dawn I was so excited! I think Doin' That Rag and Loser and Cumberland and Playin' were the highlights, along with Dark Star.Listen to the Playin' from 8 minutes in on soundboard until 12 minutes in when it goes into Dark Star,John takes it WAY OUT THERE! Doin' That Rag was Carousel Ballroom like, and Cumberland Blues put me back into the field and show from 8/28/82 Veneta! Thanks fellas, love Eddieboy! PS GREAT EYES OF THE WORLD!!!!!!
