Wow, guys, won't it be hard to pee with a rubber on?
XXXOOO
I never pee at shows anyway. Don't like to leave the rail for any reason.
Happy Birthday Ken Kesey!

Gonna make The Mountains Be My Home!
Of all the break outs to miss this one hurts the most
Theres a lot they can play in Redmond.. lol, HSF,UBC,MD : )
rain and light were just out of control last night...the sound was unreal like it was compressed matter being being spewn from a house or a 100baseT line being fed to the audience ,they just pushed it and the crowd got more crazy and rain mire intense....the golden road was so hot, the band all walked off the stage in dis-belief and Bobby said, ahhhh, we'll be RIGHT back....so sick, of did I say Jeff kicked it up a notch? um ..yeah...
Really glad they added Mountain Song to the repertoire. PERRO tapes are the best

The Golden Road was sick, I had no clue that song could be like that. Old, yet sounded so fresh. That phrase could also describe this band imo, something good is going on here!
What a fantastic two days. Great job Guys! Thank you.
Very nice show last night. 1st set was, surprisingly, rain free and really good. HCS was well done w/ a nice jam and Truckin' is always fun. Set lagged a bit for me post Estimated but Golden Rd was a great closer.
Can't beat a Scarlet opener for set 2. Jam out of it VERY heavily teased the transition jam to Rider. Was sure we were getting it but they fizzled it out to more spacey territory before moving into Birdsong. UJB was good and while I was totally unfamiliar w/ Mtn Song I still enjoyed it- quite a soaring jam out of it. Terrapin and St Stephen were both strong versions with some especially nice jamming in Terrapin and Sugar Mags was just a huge, wet dance party. Nice jam into Playin' reprise. Was disappointed to hear Touch again after it encored PDX in the Spring but whatever.
Wow, Mountain Song. Haven't listened to that in a long time. Brian's writeup was masterful, what a sense of continuity. Phil and Jill should be beaming.
This is the most animated I have ever seen Phil.WOW this guy is 70, unreal, he is stopping this tune out on Russo's sayin move it boyyy

Absolutely thunderous, amazing shows. I've seen many post-Dead shows, this is close to the best I've ever heard. (Although I've said that before...I guess they just keep getting better!)
As I sit in my living room in Portland listening to the rain, I have so many good memories of Thursday and Friday night...
Shakedown>Music opener? Are you serious? Doin' That Rag was an amazing melt down... reminded me of my first time hearing the Rag live... NYE 2000-2001, coming up on 10 years ago! (Really?) Then, four 1st set classics in a row to finish the set... Wow again. I gave up trying to keep track of where we were in the set list in the midst of the Dark Star> Other One madness... I just let it happen.
Then a beautiful Eugene day with friends. Long time friends and new friends. Went for a run, enjoyed seeing all the new kids getting ready for school... then we were treated to another unbelievable show. Everything was so tight and so well done. The band is clearly uber-rehearsed, and the stage set up and sound were just perfect. Good job crew. "Gonna let the mountains be my home..." Amazing. Good stuff, Phil. My first Terrapin Suite... then Bobby holding up two fingers after Phil said, "We've got one more for you..." after the Donor Rap. Really was more like three. There was a huge jam into Playin'. The wettest show I've ever been to, and I was at July 10, 1989 at Giants Stadium and June 17 1994 at Autzen. These Cuthbert shows were great. Thank you everyone. Good work.
Brian, I was thinking the same thing during Stephen...........This guy is 70 !!!! Cheers Phil !!!!

"Jam" is officially my new favorite encore!!
Sound quality on that link is incredible
Damn... There was I time during Terrapin were I thought they would have to stop the show.. It was raining beyond hard. Water pouring off the front of the stage & swirling round in the lights & stage.. The band was just raging it up & I was so scared they would have to stop the momentum & seek shelter.. It was like one of those crazy tropical dumps you get in Hawaii, but this one lasted for a few hours.. It was raining so hard I was having trouble looking up at the band..
The band never let up.. In fact they ROSE UP & ripped through it.. The crowd reacted. As the music intensified & the rain intensified, the crowd turned into a screaming frenzy.... SO FUN! I won't soon forget that night....
Coming down!!!!!!
It left a smoking crater of my mind,
I like to blow away
Post monsoon wreckage
Looking at the song timing now for these show, Fridays show is much more jammed out than Thursday.. 16 minute Estimated!! Scarlet>Birdsong is over 30 minutes!!!! 23 minute Terrapin.. Everything in the second set is over 11 minutes... Jamming was GORGEOUS!!!!
The jams might have been longer, but they didn't flow from note-to-note as good as Thursday...........it wasn't crackling with energy like Thursday night, first set especially sleepy,as was I.......
I felt like a different person after the show. It had quite a profound effect on me. I'm sure the rain helped but it just felt epic in every way. The Terrapin Suite sent me out of my body. I don't know if I looked at the stage once during it. I just had my hands held up as I looked up at the sky. Powerful doesn't even begin to scratch how it felt.
Truly magical how Thursday night was beautiful weather wise and so bright and sunny and light, and Friday was such an intense and dark wet adventure with the music both nights weaving an aural tapestry that was just exactly perfect.
Agreed Kris Mitchell.... Epic is an understatement. I'm dealing with some incredibly difficult life challenges right now (My wife has a recent & devastating cancer diagnosis) but I was able to check out of "cancer land" for a night and this show left me with a permanent smile on my face, which as eluded me for a few months now. Something about THIS show made me believe that "all is right with the world".
A profound effect indeed. I will dip into the memory of this grate, WET night for years to come.
Misingfinger, send me an email if you like. Husband diagnosed with similar situation. The music was what we needed.
I won't forget these Eugene shows! Thanks folks!!!
misingfinger,
It's good to hear you got a night away from worries. I'm a cancer survivor myself so hang in there. You and your wife will be in my prayers.
truly epic show!! the grateful dead had a baby & named It " FURTHUR" & eugene 9/17/10 was the baptism!!now i know why they call themselves the ducks!! i was expecting noah to pull up in the ark it monsooned & rained so hard 4 so long but during the mountain song the harder it rained the more intense the music was played!! this band is hot, tight, heartfelt ,spiritual & extremely joyful! i love this band!! amore
>>>>the grateful dead had a baby & named It " FURTHUR" & eugene 9/17/10 was the baptism!!<<<<
HAHAHAHAAHAA...I don't care who you are, that's funny right there!
is furthur using Meyer Sound?
I've not heard any sound reinforcement this good since the GD.
Not what they were playing which was just OK, Just the sound. Up front was off the charts.
Would explain the increase in ticket prices, anyway. Cutler stopped using meyer because it was too expensive, after Healy quit, right?
IMHO all "The Dead" incarnation sound systems sucked compared to this.
Well worth it if the sound system is up to par.
had a blast at both shows.
If only they had closed Fri with Playin> Rider or better yet Playin> Box of Rain. That Touch was a bit of a downer after that 2 day romp. Oh well. Warts and all.
This was an awesome tribute to Ken Kesey. The most fun I've had in a while. Best show of the tour? Maybe.
Somehow, the rain made it better, especially the Terrapin Suite.
I'd like to think it was the best show of the tour, but that's mostly because it's the only one I was able to attend.
Listening to the tour in it's entirety has led me to conclude top 3 were:
1)Sat Red Rks
2)LA Greek
3)Friday Cuthbert
(~);}
RR (sat) and Cuthbert (fri) seem to be my faves. And oddly similar in many ways.
Moses- that Terrapin suite in the rain was one of the great times in my long and winding show career. Just spectacular in the rain.
I'm right there with you, Charlie. It was awesome!
I'll add to what many have said above that the PNW shows in the rain were a lot of fun! Looking to do it again.
GO DUCKS!
#1 in AP poll for first time ever!
