Welcome to SB Furthur! No rain here, just blue skys, sunshine and the sparkling blue pacific ocean - 75F this am. Looking forward the show tonight!
....roll away the Dew!!!
Indeed. Sitting at work counting down the minutes. Looking for the Unbroken chain and the Weather Report tonight. Can not wait. See you inside.
Hey now. Does anyone know when the band goes on tonight?
Enjoy the show!!! I used to live blocks away from the bowl!
My absolute advise: Grab a bite to eat at "La Super-Rica Taqueria" before the show!!!!!!! Just a few blocks west on Milpas... You'll thank me for this!
Hopefully the band has dried off after a few days of PNW rain
OK. I did my own research. The show starts at 6 pm. There is a strict 10 pm curfew.
The curfew is for real. Been to many shows here, they will start and end on time. 6:00-10:00. Going to be grand.
any soundcheck news?
man i wish the sites would all say the same time - you say 6:00, otherones says 5:30. gonna be sweeet either way!!

Nice!
The celebrities are out in force there tonight, my buddy has Jacks from Sons of Anarchy sitting right in front of him lol
comes a time - nice!
Tell Jax (Charlie Hunnam) it is too bad that Sons doesn't have anyone who can write. The acting suffers terribly because of the poor writing. Maggie Siff (Tera) can act the shit out of a part, but she has nothing to work with on that show.
That's a strange looking set. The makings for a blow out 2nd set?

LOL we are only two episodes in, last week was pretty good. I agree about Tera, stiff as a board.
I agree about the second set, should be the best one so far of the tour.

Any breakouts 2nd set or do you think they will get a colors of the rain or a mully?
Buddy on the ground said the Comes a Time> Lovelight was the high light of the set.
I have to get up at 5:30am so I am outta here zone, second set should be good.

So glad I made it! Saw my very first Dead show at UCSB in 1974 - 36 years later back here at the Bowl still loving the music. Great show, even though the first set had a few bumps (Bobby forgetting lyrics during Uncle) - second set was on fire, and the double encore took us right up to curfew. Looking foward to the Greek tonight! (Good call on eats at the Superica - I've enjoyed their food since they opened in 1980! - check it out if you are ever in SB!))
thanks for the setlists!
Spanish jam:
comes a time>lovelight..."horrible"?
santa barbara bowl was one of the finest shows i have ever seen in my life!! i have never seen days between, comes a time & attics of my life all in one show....the level of musicianship is so far beyond anyones comprehension reviews by the layman simply don't do this band justice!! furthur is an understatement!! this band is so hot, tight, heartfelt, spiritual & joyful i have never seen these kind of fantasy setlists ever!the music sounds fresh, funky,& would u believe brand new...on 2 z greek, vegas & red rx! i luv this band so much!! amore
yes i would like 2 add that this is the reason deadheads have to go on tour to multiple shows...even though the 2 eugene shows were really spectacular the sound & energy was 10 times louder & stronger in santa barbara! everything got turned up several levels & the locomotive is headed toward l.A.,vegas & then the pinnacle red rocks!!! the train is rollin & the whistle is screamin...the grateful dead had a baby & named it furthur & eugene was the baptism! the sound & lights are tremendous all ya gotta do to fill ur empty heart is open it up & only love can fill....every song they play is the right song 4 the moment, the band are modern day prophets spreadin that magic around the country were they ever here at all...peace amore
ok
Carmine, I cannot agree with you more. I have been checking this band out since they opened up in NY last year. I've seen about 15 of their shows so far, although all on the east coast, and at least 5 of them are among the best Grateful Dead shows I have ever seen. The music is so hot and fresh; Phil is seriously playing with everything that his 70 year old body can give, which is more than most 20 year olds. Chimente is one of the best musicians this band has ever seen. Russo is a madman he keeps the beat AND fills the sound like no-one I've ever heard, just listen to the CD's. But JK is off the hook. This guy was born for this single purpose. Its incredible that we were lucky enough to experience Jerry for all those years, but to now have a second crack at it...WOW!!!....we all must be doing something right to deserve this. Either that, or some grey-haired hippie up top is channeling this music right through him, right before your eyes! Doesnt matter, whichever it is, I'm on the bus and the only way Im gettin off is when the Man decides to take me.
>i have never seen days between, comes a time & attics of my life all in one show<
glad somebody else noticed the significance of this, and all of them were played exceptionally well, spot-on with no errors and lots of emotion.
then they gave us LA, and yes it was all about making both of them and they made it easy for us to do that.
thanks you Furthur!
a little Zone kickback for those that see this...
I have 5 double-sided handbills from the LA/SB shows. I'll mail one out to you, send e-mail with your addy. cheers! osorojo623@hotmail.com

John sang Cream Puff War. Seven Hills was played faster than before.
The Comes a Time featured Sunshine singing the intro with John. Prior to this he sang it alone.
