First Vegas adventure for the Furthur crew. Bring the mojo hard tonight gang. Love what I have heard so far from this band and I am stoked for this show. Wharf Rat and St. Stephens are my predications or maybe just wishes.
deal should be a no brainer and i know they did it but loser would be appropriate
GREAT venue, have fun and please keep us updated.

Listened to the 17th Eugene on Archive. Sounded strong. Summer Tour had many links and even some streams that made a night in the basement extra special in a cosmically connected sort of way. No streams or links on PZ this tour. Was there a Big Brother like disapproval involved here, or just chance? I'm not bitching, just wondering. Streams or links could save the night as I'm preparing for something like 3 inches of rain here in St Paul where the current temp is 51 degrees. Back to the basement. C'mon Northrop and UIC, love this stuff! Half Step to open ("they say that Caine caught Abel")?
The last time I say Phil & Friends at The Joint was Halloween'05 - October 30, 2005 - during Vegoose. They played 3 sets, starting after midnight and playing till dawn!! Check it out:

What an epic show. Just got home and brain is buzzing hard so review will have to wait until morning but what a show. Look for the downloads on this one gang.
Did they end GDTRFB with "We Bid You Goodnight?"
Wow!!! Now THAT'S a party show!!!!!!
IIRC, wasn't there a short little eleven jam in there between St. Stephen and the wheel?
I was about twelve beers deep by then.
This was another over the top show.
GR8 energy. Lots of PHIL VOCALS. Johnny Smokin.
Bobby very sharp and focused.
1st set Black Throated Wind had the 1972 sound.
LOVED IT. This show could easily keep me going to 2011. I have no clue on how RED-ROCKS can top this show. I will be there and probably understand why we all keep coming back for more.
To the band:
THXs 4 A REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD TIME.
Slightly more focused than last post so here is my little 2 cent review. First set was a great way to get out of the gates. Could tell right from the opening jam into Stranger that they came to play. John played and sang Midnight at a rippin pace. Brown Eyed Women had old heads lookin at each other with that sly little grin and Deal was killer. Bobby goofed up the begining of Miracle but was very on last night. I did get my group singing the chorus at setbreak of "Just one thing I got to say, I need a teleprompter every day".
2nd set was special start to finish. Like a sportscenter top 10 countdown special. At least in the moment it was played as well as it looks. I could gush about every song except for a few tranisitions but my hands hurt from high fiving. Got my Whart Rat and St. Stephens plus so many more gems. The encore seemed like a little bit of a letdown and very predictable given the theme of the evening. This was my first Furthur show but I have listened to most on Archive. In person the energy and support that Sunshine and Jeff added very much surprised me in a good way. Chimenti and JK's connection is the real gift that makes this band special. What a year for JK and I for one am very happy for him. Phil inspires me. I hope I am that happy and excited at 70. Sorry this was long but I've been reading for a year now and was ready to share my night. Have fun, be safe and dance your ass off.
Did JK sing Loose Lucy?
and was Dark Star truly just first verse?
Thanks for your review!
Bob sang Lucy and yes Dark Star was just first verse so expect a Redrocks finish.
thanks very much for providing an actual Review, Chris-much appreciated
simply put this band is on "FIRE" ! as u know i ain't got time 2 call my soul a critic no! so let me just say the sound @the joint was the best of the tour so far finally they turned it up so john's lead guitar was screaming, heavy bass/drums bottom end & vocals were all turned up louder & crystal clear! i hope the soundman keeps it that way especially@the rox since it's a large venue & outdoors! bobby looks terrific, phil is animated & playin great, joe russo brings the madness, jeff c. is playin with soul & chops, john k.is my favorite guitar player on the planet right now & jeff P. & Sunshine garcia becker are in harmony from heaven!! i have realized that reading a setlist & being there "Live" are 2 seperate entities so i will just say the grateful dead had a baby & named it "FURTHUR" & the baptism was in eugene 9/17/10 for the grateful ducks!! if u were there u know what i mean! fall tour is turning out to be a great one & we still have 3 magical/mystical nites left @red rocks! the locomotive is rollin down the tracks & the whistle is screamin.....c u in colorado!! amore
tonights break outs
around and around >>
Around & Around is not a breakout, it's a buzz killer.
My first Further show, was very excited based on what I'd heard. I REALLY hope Salvatore is wrong about the "best sound of the tour" as it was nowhere near as clean as I have rightfully come to expect of the Grateful Dead. Loud, yes, but defined, no. Bottom end a muddy mess, no Phil bombs. Maybe he just doesn't play that way anymore? Yes, I really miss the Grateful Dead, but also, yes, I'm ready to enjoy the current incarnation. Just didn't blow my mind like I was ready for...
I have the whole tour on SBD and I keep coming back to this show....great jams! IMO this show Really stands out and holds it's own against the conventional wisdom that Cuthbert, LA Greek and Sat Red Rocks were the tour highlights....
just my $.02
