OK, it is time... 2 more days and the forecast is setting up to be gorgeous!
please, please, please don't play one more saturday night.......
I have 2 extras for Sat would love to miracle but getting laid off on 9/30. Not looking for profit just cost with fees and taxes they are $73.00 each. Anybody interested just let me know. And everyone else have a great show.
>>>please, please, please don't play one more saturday night.......
No, open the show with OMSN to set the mood and get it out of the way!!!
I have 1 extra ticket for tonight's show - face value.
EM in profile.
Peace,
Steve
Traffic - Try the back entrance through Morrison. It's a very easy "in" and for the "out" it's only a one-lane road but it moves unlike getting all jammed-up in the front entrance. - It always worked great in the past - Just a suggestion for the Phans!!! Wish I Was There!!!
Back entrance. Check. I live South and hate getting routed to 70/470.
Dr. Glick, What's happening?
does anyone know which lot is shakedown?
lower lot for the Shakedown (one just below the Trading Post)
You know they are going to play it.
They played it last Sat and it was great.
"You know they are going to play it."
and THAT is the real bummer
"You know they are going to play it."
It would be nice if they would open the show with it once in a while. Or end the first set......or open the second set. I vaguely remember saying the same thing in the 80s.
Yesterday, I already called OMSN to open show tonight....lol
Any opener will do.

Just remember that was from "1984"....and Big Brother was watching!!!
You never saw that one Mike? Should have been hidden or destroyed. Although we wouldn't have had such a huge laugh years later. Funny stuff!
Mike, lay off the tootski mahn. Take a walk.

For my $, that's as good a Grateful Dead experience as I could ever hope for now. Gotta hand it to The Trio, for hanging with and propelling this interstellar exploratory trip machine that Bobby and Phil fashioned out of empty space.
By the time we hit Sittin', it was obvious we were in for it. The big ol Viola Lee sammy was meaty and ridiculously fun with Bertha and Cumberland phillin up the middle and overflowing with bopping energy. What kind of second set could follow?
Phil lead an nice intro to Mountain Song to get the ball rolling again. We enjoyed this and by the final "I need to breathe" codas, were ready to dance again hard as they transitioned nicely to Rider. This set was about many things but the segues were a biggie; Phil seemed in charge here leading the band fearlessly through jamming wormholes connecting each tune. The whole band was outstanding through the Terrapin Suite--one of my personal highlights of the night. Eleven rocked hard until Phil took us back on the journey through the interconnectedness of all in Unbroken Chain. Some well played jams here including that final build-up that just kept going and wrappng us up to get ready to reexplore Dark Star. V2 of Star was exquisite; Stella sweetly followed with John seemingly leading the way while getting out of the way in case someone else might be staring down from way on high because souls were stiring by this point. The transition to TOO was another jaw dropper as Phil bombed us on our way through this killer rocking set closer.
We knew what the encore would be and that was fine because afterall that's right, it was Saturday Night. Crank up that old Victrola. Get out your rocking shoes.
No comparison to fri. Night. This was a "Jerry" steamroller and Bobby had no chance to slow this one down. What an amazing performance. Stella was down right moving. The band went deep last night, real deep. John is not a fake anything, just an amazing guitar player and musician. A bit too much Phil singing, but Frankins was one of the best songs of the night. Not sure how tonight can match up. Bring it Bobby, you're up.
what a nicely composed setlist.
I'm glad these shows are satisfying ya'll.
Go Phil Go!
Wow, this one totally blew me away. Everyone of them threw-down full-throttle, no doubt about that. Russo was a MONSTER, especially Terrapin > Eleven. Mike had some really spirited solos both sets. John was channeling Jerry the whole night, he definitely stepped it up.
Personal favorites on this one were Franklin's, Sitting, Terrapin and Stella Blue. I don't see any "weak points" of this show at all, these guys are playing tight and really gelling together. Stella was pure time-travel, it wasn't John singing, it was Jerry circa 1977, I just sat down totally enthralled & wearing a smile you'd need a chainsaw to remove!
One More Saturday was a perfect end to a REALLY fun & hoppin show, in my opinion. Looking forward to tonight's show. :-D

I have a special hatred for the cop running the top gate. Last night was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a concert. The security is drastically inconsistent. Night one my bag was haphazardly checked and I was told to tuck the chain of my wallet away so no one could see it. No pat down, no search of my pockets.
Night two I'm told to "empty your pockets" (not a word about the wallet chain), so I pull everything out, including my little daily AM/PM pill box that I have carried in my pocket every day since I got out of the hospital last November. I carry Soma and Percaset, either of which I cannot function without.
Not only did I protest, but my Mom was even standing their saying "No, this is my son, he got run over by a truck, he NEEDS those!" But the cop just said "We don't know what it is, it's going in the trash."
They said I had to have all the docs on me. Apparently I am supposed to bring both entire 180 pill bottles with me into the show. Ironically, my Mom barely got checked, and her IDENTICAL pill case came through in her purse and she didn't even know she had it. Fortunately she had some of her own pain meds, but no muscle relaxants. I spent most of the show on my back.
My thought is "If I thought I needed to hide this from you, would I keep it in my front pocket? Do you think I think you're that stupid?"
Everywhere I go, I end up missing the SF bay. I've carried that same little pill box into countless shows without a word.
don't go in on the top!!! there is a pathway between the rocks which is awesome!! and not to many people use this. i stood in line for 10 mins at the top of the venue for string cheese and i couldn't take it, we didn't move more then 10 feet. we went down to the path between the rocks and walked right in with no search at all.even found a real nice bud on the path!!! have fun all. peace
Cops?
The boys have some fun in their limo...

100% straight through great time. The moon the people and of course the music. The full terrapin>the eleven was a treat and one can never go wrong with a help>slip opener. Final note I LOVE the new mountain songs. I think it is greta that they are still creating great new music at this point of the journey
hands down 9/25/10 was the greatest furthur show i've ever seen!! there aren't words in the dictionary to descibe what happened! thank u furthur red rocks sure brings out the best u had to give...one more to go then i better save up 4 fall tour part 2!!amore
I'm with ya, that show was Greta!
I've been going to shows at Red Rocks for 30 years! Last night will make it into my top 5 list for best shows I've seen at Red Rocks. Been waiting 11 years to see John up there, who knew he'd be there with these guys! 16th row Dead center, a perfect weather nite, with my friends and family, and another 10,000 that showed up for this great nite of music. What a band. I am now officialy a Joe Russo fan, he is huge! Thank You Furthur!
>> Mike had some really spirited solos both sets.
Mike?
somebody named Mike was there, justnot playing music on stage, that's all
Mike Hunt? lol
Just finished listening to last night's show. Wow, "old folks' music" fer sure. Unbelievable. Whoever Mike is, I'm sure he had a hellavu time with his solos, as long he was between the rocks. Can't wait for Chicago now, which will be my only show of the fall.
Another gorgeous evening at RR with a harvest moon sitting over on the eastern horizon when the band took the stage.
Help > Slip > Franks was excellent...John really got outside immediately during Slipknot. Alabama was nice too.
Opening myself up for arrows and stones here, but to me the segues during rest of the set felt very forced until Cumberland > Viola 3. Songs were well played, but I recall enjoying many a Dead set where the band actually, gasp, stopped between songs. OK, I know every show is a gift and I love this band...I'm just saying....
After an hour long break, all criticisms were out the window with a mammoth second set. Really...this set just cooked! Mountain song was strong (first time I've heard it). Rider was excellent...the CO rain verse bringing a big response from the crowd and the final jam between Jeff and John was awesome.
Beautiful lights complimenting an equally beautiful Terrapin...the back wall looked like grape vines to me...gorgeous green and purple circles. Russo is just incredible during the final stages of the Suite. Funny...I saw someone here refer to him as an 8-armed octopus...well two rows in front of me some folks threw a blow-up octopus (complete with glow necklace) down the rows.
I tried to sit down during The Eleven and could stay in my seat for about 4 minutes before the jams pulled me back to my feet. Not my favorite song but probably my favorite version to date.
Phew...I've run out of adjectives before the best part of the show. The final 4 songs were just, well, supercalifragilisticexpeali-dose-us. Stella was so moving...thank you John! And I swear The Other One swirled like the CO wind...it just spiraled and spiraled and spiraled. They couldn't even stop with the last chorus...to my ear there was a false ending and they rolled through the Coming Arounds one more time.
The encore, predictable yes but it sounded absolutely brilliant tonight. I leapt, twirled, screamed and jumped along with Bobby.
Final comment...who are the glow stick people on this tour? I've noticed that song appreciation is measured by the volume of glowsticks spewing forth from one or two sections. It's very fun fun to watch from above...glow stick streamage peaked tonight with Franklin's and last night with Cosmic Charlie.
Hey boys...sure you can't add a 4th show? OK...make my 2010 absolutely complete and surprise us with a run at the Berkeley Greek. If they allowed those Phish kids back, surely you can pull some strings
Damn, I am having a hard time thinking of a show that was more impressive in my lifetime than the Sat Red Rocks show. Start to finish I had the right combination of rest, food, drink, mindset and the band delivered in spades. For my wife and I's first trip to the Rocks, this trip is etched in our souls.
For our first trip to the Rocks, we were surprised at the lack of vending....was planning on getting to pick which of the 5 different quesadillas from the ocean of white easy-up vending tents...none of that was present. A minor bitch, but we came to friday nite hungry and expecting to do lot dinner. Maybe the Midwest does it different, but I am used to a much more professional shakedown setup like at all of the Deer Creek shows.
That aside....my head is still spinning from saturday.
Couple things no one has commented on:
1) Out of Mountain Song and into IKYR, they did the China Cat crescendo that preludes the classic China>Rider pairing. I like Rider, but getting that crescendo before the drop into Rider makes it that much better. Does Further now usually do Rider with the China cat nugget attached, or was that special for the rocks?
2) My setlist I wrote down that night has
Dark Star v2 ->
Stella Blue ->
Other One v1 ->
Dark Star Jam ->
Other One v2 (with pump fake ending back into Comin Around line)
Noone here is mentioning the second Dark Star in the middle of O1. I usually dont screw up my setlists notes, but heck it was the end of the night and who knows. Havent listened to the show again yet....was there a second Dark Star chunk in there?
Righteously joyful,
Chris
>>Mike had some really spirited solos both sets.<<
I was referring to the keyboardist, Chiamenti, but I was still high at the time I wrote the review, and I guess I thought his first name was Mike when I wrote it...lol.
> Noone here is mentioning the second Dark Star in the middle of O1.
I got your back. I told my wife they were heading back into Dark Star in the middle of The Other One. No doubt The Other One is one of the greatest Dead songs ever, and this one was really cool. They changed it up a bit in parts which I really liked. I have to say though, that to my ears they tried too hard to make it a big show ending song. When they brought it way down it was almost as if they lost their way for a minute or two. Then Phil took control and brought it back up for the ending.
Carry on...
Terrapin Melt: the Other white meat...get'em while they're hot!
...simply put...this is just a killer show...comes right out of the blocks with a tasty H-S-F...and then it just keeps gettin'...bettah n'bettah...the first set Viola triple sammmy with its hopped up seemless transitions has already gained fans n'notoriety...and it's only days old...(essentially, a second set as first set)...then it's onto the second set...where the Terrapin Suite is simply sublime...and then it's a very tasty romp thru The Eleven>Unbroken Chain>Dark Star v2>Stella Blue>...which only leads into a fantastically psychedelic melt down goin' by the name of The Other One...which is just candy on top of the whole enchilada...(includin' a return to Dark Star jam within The Other One)...n'ah very, very nice cherry on top it is...to be savored...then...because it is, afterall, Saturday night...n'just 'bout everybody saw it comin' after it didn't appear in the first set...Bobby gets his just desserts (fer being a good doobie thruout the show n'bringin' great vocals n'guitar fills) with a rollickin' n'rollin' One More Saturday Night that's just good clean fun...and absolutely not a let down after what had just transpired over the previous several hours...yes, what a show...and what a musical journey it waz...yazz, yazz, yazz...this here iteration of post-Jerry survivin' head Deads...known as Furthur...is now a bona fide band in its own right...they found a way to jell...somewhere, somehow...n'now they can really go places...n'take you there...tah boot...this band has progressed tremendously since I last saw'em in March...they no longer have any lingerin' vestiges of merely "coverin" the material...they now evince the confidence n'owt n'owt balls to just step up n'go...make it their own...again...it could be a real fun ride...as long as they feel the need...for speed...from here on out...we could be in fer some real good times n'shows...furthur down the road...enjoy'em...while they're hot!...
What an amazing night
Unbroken thru Other 1 was my dream setlist
I just thanked Phil IN PERSON for it at the airport gate while waiting for our flight to SF
He said that RR is special and he was excited to close the set with it. He also mentioned that he really enjoys what Furthur is doing with Unbroken chain
> I just thanked Phil IN PERSON
Excellent! Did you thank him for the rest of us too? We are "The Zone". One all, all for one. Right?
This show was among the finest from the post-Jerry era...Phil clearly was the driver and set the tone for a fantastic performance in a spectacular venue. From the get go, we knew we were in for something special. Nothing profound here, but after many many many shows, this one was a standout. If you weren't there...be sure to have a listen.
^^^I agree. a fantastic show from start to finish. Russo is a fucking monster. JK seems to have stepped it up a notch or two since I last saw them in the spring. Phil was, well, his badass self. These being my first RR shows even made it that much more, dare I say, magical. What an awesome venue!
Oh, not to forget groovin to the Stevie Wonder tunes at the set break. How cool was that?!
What Shakedown said exactly - this was one for the ages! People will be talking about this show amongst the many of these last 45 years...
YES, it was that good. From start to finish, it was blazing.
just like ya'll think, i agree, this show was a smoker...i feel blessed to have been at this show, amongst the other 8 of the tour
William - we sure were blessed!
>>>>> I have to say though, that to my ears they tried too hard to make it a big show ending song. When they brought it way down it was almost as if they lost their way for a minute or two. Then Phil took control and brought it back up for the ending
I'll have to agree with you there Homer but the Bombs Phil was dropping made up for any noodling.
the show was really good and inspirational from start to finish although I preferred Sunday and Fri. over this show, It may be I'm not a huge Viola Lee person although I do like the song.
I was wondering why they used the backdrop lights so little this night compared to the other 2 nights because they were mind blowing.
the sound all 3 nights was superb !!!!
Absolutely amazing. I made it to 102 GD shows before that fateful day of 8/9/95, and have attended dozens of Phil, Ratdog, Other Ones, Dead, and Furthur shows since then. I'd say this one is among the top 5 of all the shows I've seen.
Just a tad hyperbolic but damn near the mark, bull.
Thought Sunday was just as good.
>>>Damn, I am having a hard time thinking of a show that was more impressive in my lifetime than the Sat Red Rocks show.<<<
FUCKING PIG ROBBED ME!
Wow been listening to bits and pieces of this one. fantastic! Bobby plays some seriously demented rhythm guitar throughout. love it!
I've learned a new word! Hyperbolic- Exaggerating.
Great show. .the viola sandwich with bertha and cumberland might have been a little better in Rochester...
The Full Terrapin in that wonderful setting will stay with me forever I think.
Bob sang the entire At a Siding...without trading verses with johnk. First time the band played it that way.
