Hello Rob. This is Mike B in CT. We spent much of the NYC Phil run taping together at the rail. Glad you were able to make it out west for the NYE shows! I just got back from Patti Smith at the Bowery Ballroom earlier tonight. Hope you are doing well.

he is still a friend
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........................
Yikes! Ratdog's set now streaming. Wake me up if Phil's set comes back around...
Interesting that Jay Lane played instead of John Molo as the Trio.
pretty burnt sets by Bob and Phil. Nothin to write home about. This will happen from time to time.
NYE will be better.
AAhhhh Sless on leads! Thank god !
Phil and Friends sounded amazing last night! Barry tore it up!
alright will try to write down some down thoughts after some much needed rest.
Rolled in to town at 5pm found decent parking spot on Van Ness less then two blocks from the BGCC, good start!
Pretty long line to get in but it moved fast and no trouble finding a spot dead center on the rail.
not too long of a wait for the Jackie Greene Band, my first time seeing them. Pretty good rock and roll, loud but not over bearing. Jackie said it was a real pleasure to play for real music fans which I thought was pretty classy, they played their hearts out, I'd definitely check 'em out if they played local.
On to Ratdog, this was maybe my 5th time seeing them. I really liked Jeff on the baby grand, really sounded good on that big old thing. Bob did sound like he was singing more and less of that talking stuff he's done in the past. I really liked the She Belongs to Me, Liberty (two of my all time faves) good set that kept me moving throughout, nothing too wild but well played. I liked their "space" the most, neat stuff, too bad Bob splits for it
Then the curtain went down and they started to set up right on top of us. a little trio set, this was pretty rough, it never really seemed like they got it together, maybe it was the lack of Molo but it just seemed a little off, I believe Bob said work in progress or something like that.
On to the grandmaster, the curtain went up and the lights were on his bad assed bass and away we went... great set!! Phil was thumping, Barry was nice and loud, Molo playing as great as ever. I really loved it all except for the Satisfaction, I would have put something else there but everyone around seemed to love it singing at the top of their lungs. I left the rail for the encore to say hi to the zoners and get a jump on the exiting crowd, it didn't sound quite as good as it did up front, really couldn't hear Barry as well from back there, may need to turn him up a bit tonight... fun!!!
all in all a great loooong night of music 8 hours on my feet which really hurt but totally worth it. Pretty good crowd had a group or two of MYLFs trying to sneak some space and there was a quick fight right next to me during St.Stephen but nothing too crazy. thanks to everyone that made the night happen and here's to one more Party for 2008.
>>>>Phil and Friends sounded amazing last night! Barry tore it up!
after seeing the line up and setlist that was the first thing I thought up. bet barry ripped it up and that the line up was tight as hell and SMOKED!!!
SLESS IS BEST (when he is turned up and allowed to unleash that is...))
