^^hey there newbie welcome to the zone!^^
none yet
Is Jackie Green in the house
Hmmm, Maggie's Farm. Don't think that one was mentioned in the "what will Furthur open the tour with? thread.
Sounds like a laid back set with some good jazzy, country, psched out jamming.
saving the good shit for the east coast
(or 2nd set)
I think "spirallightofvenus" got it right when he mentioned Maggie's Farm being a nod to Bob Dylan.
thanx for the welcome, been observing for awhile...
Maggie's Farm hits me about as weird as the Dear Mr. Fantasy at Redmond,WA for opening a set. I'm digging the constant surprise of set structure at shows, it's the icing on the cake of the band's playing. The question is: Is Bob still a worker on this tour, cause we know Phil is? Go Bobby go!
why do we need a nod to dylan?
ask Jill she is the set list Queen.
weird is good!
Ummm, cause nobody covers Dylan tunes like the "Dead", and they're great songs.
Dylan grew up in Minnesota.
Bobby's doing just fine... I don't mind the set structure myself, but I have a few friends that are rather pissed about second set songs being in the first set and vice versa...gotta love the phreaks!!!
nod to dylan casue he's from minny AND he's still the man, come ON people ..Thanks Further for continuing the music you are amazing...can't wait till NYE in SFO!!!
I love how hard it is to call songs anymore
Second set songs in first set from what I've experienced change the vibe or feeling of the set and it seems to allow these guys to open up. It's neat to be shrooming and be in first set and have the jamming spaced out and going strong. But I say also there is nothing like a classic first set barn burner.
NYE in SF is gonna be AWESOME! Can't wait.
Agreed Den, but it seems as though the setlist back when were a crescendo, escalating towards climax as the show progressed...a trip of sorts.
Sometimes I get lost, or detoured early than expected, but I don't seem to mind regardless.
its all good as long as there's PHIL!!!

No sir but nice to hear some Okie made it there....haha.
Oh sorry for that e-mail I sent you, my bad.
...
That is so cool paying homage to Dylan with opening and closing songs. Classy.
Nice open and close 2nd set with Dylan tunes. I saw the Q in OKC(year ?) where Rolling Stone was the encore and dug it plenty.
No mention of Jackie Greene and Chris Robinson? Did CR join in Lovelight?

Dylan sammy = great way to start the tour.
Nice video, please post more of this.
Just got in. Really nice fun show. JK was on point tonight. Comes A Time was (as always) the highlight for me. Jk and sunshine duetted on it and it was really special. Can't wait to hear that. Mellow crowd. Not a lot of jamming but definitely a fun fun show. The Dylan tunes were a nice tribute since he is a native son and lived blocks away from the hall on 4th street in the early 60s. I'll catch up with them again at MSG for the closer, but I would love to catch some more. They sounded really nice.
LET'S HERE IT FOR :::: MOLO! JACKIE! ROBINSON!! helpin' out tonight. You lucky dogs!

my bad march show posted
Yep, a very nice tour opening tip o' the cap (and foreshadowing?)to The Bobster.....who, at the end of this tour, is playing Sat. 11/20 at UMass Lowell and is then off Sun. 11/21 before having a show at Terminal 5 in NY on Mon. 11/22. Wonder what The Maestro plans on doing that Sunday nite in NYC?
Holy Shit MOLO, JACKIE and CHRIS!!!!! Iowa here I come!!!
Great show last night for the tour opener! First set was very well played and a lot of crowd pleasers, must say that Bucket and Nobody Girl were my favorites. Bucket really rocked and Nobody Girl started mellow and then really opened up into something powerful! Second Set was awesome! Scarlet sparkled and the out jam was interesting and intense, lots of different hints and then into Women, which was weird but pretty fun. The Help - Golden Road - Franklin's _ was sweet and Comes A Time was beautiful, Sunshine and John sounded great together! Her and Jeff add a nice blend to the vocals but Bob and Phil sounded pretty good too, Phil especially on his verses in Like A Rolling Stone! Joe and Phil had some great rythymic playing going, was fun watching Joe looking at Phil and then adding a nice little drum part to add to the song! Jeff played really well, some nice piano leads and his Hammond playing was excellent! All in all a great first show for the tour!

Songs about women is the setlist theme. And lovin' 'em, and stuff.
.......Holy Shit MOLO, JACKIE and CHRIS!!!!! Iowa here I come!!!
Where are you guys getting this???? It didn't happen
Thanks for the link, Jamman. That video shows some of the things they are doing with lights to change colors on the tye-dye backdrop. I like it.
I'm pumped for Saturday in Chi-town!
glad someone questioned molo, jackie, and robinson. there were no indications those guys were there at all.....someone must have had to much "muddy water".
Someone posted a youtube link of the Like a Rolling stone from phil's birthday show.hence the Molo,Jackie and Chris confusion

first set stagger>bertha sugaree close was en fuego..love the swampy recalibration of Stagger - always one of my fav JG tunes and JK sang the shit out of it. Closing of Set1 got Set2 cookin' right away... It was absolutely terrific - top form! Scarlet>Women>Lovelight heading into a deep Help>Slip>GOLDEN RD!>Franks. The Comes a Time was EPIC and the Sugar Mags>NFA close was very '71 with Joe and Jeff playing some inspired stuff. Rolloing Stone encore with the verse trading was a real treat - too bad they didnt trade verses on Maggies Farm like old-school GD but the Dylan tribute on UofM campus is a nice touch indeed. IMO, this was way better than Iowa
