Great show at the new Warfield earlier this week. Like everyone else, I think the new place is okay, a few changes have been made but the plumbing in the ladies room still leaks the same! It's still the same place we know and love My only complaint is the $7 beers. Yuck. On to the music...

The opening act was wild. Never did catch their name, it was a duo ...fiddle player and an accordian player. They made me think of a ukranian circus or maybe some gypsies busking, definitely the soundtrack to a terry giliam movie...very 12 monkey's-esque. They seemed aware of how weird they were, had a nice tongue in cheek feel to it. They were able to walk the line being playful without being downright goofy! By the end, I was digging their set!

As for Sharon and the Dap Kings, loved them! Sharon seems like a great woman, she got a great response out of people. The men and women alike wanted to be on stage dancing with her. The best by far was a 12 year old boy who jumped on stage when She said she wanted a young man. This kid really hammed it up as Sharon tried to teach him a lesson--Be Easy. Ha, it was great! and the Dap Kings were great too, bringing the funk and the soul sounds! I especially liked the MC, Binky Griptite, great voice, smooth as silk! In no particular order they played stuff including, 100 days, 100 nights, Change is Gonna Come, MelloMatic Mood, Be Easy, Been Away Too Long, I Ain't Nobody's Baby, Answer Me and a bunch of other stuff. One set, 90 minutes with another 20 or 25 for the encore.

Overall, really great show, I'll do it again for $25!
