I wonder how they blew it up or if they burned it down
Get out, get out Mr. Lot and don’t you turn around.
hey all, psyched for 11/19-21. The talk about Chuck Berry reminds me of some of my last Dead shows. Chuck opened each night for the Dead in Portland OR at a killer little polo field. Note that 5/29 was also the final "Let the good times roll"---that would be a nice one to bring back. When was the last good times roll for Furthur.. if ever?

ANY ROAD
Oh I've been traveling on a boat and a plane
In a car on a bike with a bus and a train
Traveling there and traveling here
Everywhere in every gear
But oh Lord we pay the price with a
Spin of a wheel - with a roll of a dice
Ah yeah you pay your fare
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
And I've been traveling through the dirt and the grime
From the past to the future through the space and the time
Traveling deep beneath the waves - in
watery grottoes and mountainous caves
But oh Lord we've got to fight
With the thoughts in the head with the dark and tle light
No use to stop and stare
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
You may not known where you came from
May not know who you are
May not have even wondered how
you got this fair
I've been traveling on a wing and a prayer
By the skin of my teeth by the breadth of a hair
Traveling where the four winds blow
With the sun on my face - in the ice
and the snow
But oooeeee it's a game
Sometimes you're cool, sometimes
you're lame
Ah yeah it's somewhere
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
But oh Lord we pay the price
With the spin of the wheel with the roll of
the dice
Ah yeah, you pay your fare
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
I keep traveling around the bend
There was no beginning, there is no end
It wasn't born and never dies
There are no edges, there is no sides
Oh yeah, you just don't win
It's so far out - the way out is in
Bow to God and call him Sir
But if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there
If they were going to the George Harrison well, "My Sweet Lord" would have been sweet
was at the Portland shows in 95'. The west coast tour was fun. Portland was a cool vunue. Hourse track or some such. Remember going for a walk about and making the entire loop during the end of 1st. It was hot, they had showers set up, which was nice. Almost dazedly walked into the tapers section,, looked up about 5 steps short with about 100 eyes just screaming at me. Stopped and grooved when the groove demanded.
Came back around to find my friends randomly parked next to the sound board. Within seconds, Shakedown starts... Not a bad way to spend a day!
Well, one of the following happened:
A) This is is a 25 minute Wheel
B) Nate's phone died

I'm interested to hear what people who actually saw the show have to say...
Tonight had it's highs and lows...a few more lows than highs but all in all it was a good time.
The boys are lookin good, soundin good and having fun...they picked up right where they left off.
I'm going to Harrah's to play some cards and win a buncha cash ...
Truckin', like the do-dah man. Once told me "You've got to play your hand"
Sometimes your cards ain't worth a dime, if you don't lay'em down..
It was good to see some familiar faces tonight...Love me some Zoners!
more later....
Ummm that first set easily looks the best so far..on paper.
portland meadows was/is a horse race track not a polo field those were my last 2 shows with the man on a beautiful weekend ...sunnydaze...didnt expect it to be the last time i saw him
totally different scene than vegas the weekend before
Who sang the Harrison song? Thanks!
I really like The Mountain Song!
the other 2 Mag Mt and High on a Mountain I can do without...
Gotta say the lack of Intel on these Midwest Shows is frustrating.....
Where are the reviews and details!!!!
is there any Help on the Way!?!?!?!?
thanx for the setlists...
I was in row 12 and I was very pleased with the show. St Louis was my 8th furthur show and it was very good. Better than Saturday night at Red Rocks in September, or NYE 2009, or Phil's 70th, probably not, but they are very playing together very well and having fun. The accepella Attics of My Life was AWESOME. You new you were going to hear The Eleven on 11/11. Looking forward to Chicago!
Hey the show was so good, I did not mind a couple Bobby vocal flubs, but I thought EVERYONE was on tonight. JK singing So Many Roads, and Stella Blue was touching. BTW, Jerry's last Stella Blue was 7/6/95 in St Louis and then Riverport. JK does a great job with Jerry's tunes and he rips on guitar.
No boffo dream setlist yet but you can't go by that. Can't wait for m.s.g.
Yes, thats right Portland 1995 was a horse track. I can see the bright white rails in my eyes now. That was cool. The begining of the end for me. My last show was at the June 3rd or so Shorline stint for three days.Thats where I caught the final Alabama. I am getting my wife pumped up for MSG and Wrcester. Just like old times...
i was at at least one of those portland shows. I remember some bad vibes..., it could have been the excessive heat and lack of shade. I also seem to recall that there were a few deaths at the show, a couple of OD's and I think someone wandered into to traffic on I-5 which was next to the Portland Meadows racetrack and was killed. It was my last dead show too. I think these sept furthur shows were much more fun.
The show last night was incredible!!! The boys opened the show with my favorite GD song Uncle John's Band!!! The set list was amazing!!! I didn't think it would get any better after the killer 1st set. But the boys proved me wrong once again with a smokin' hot 2nd set. Eyes of the World was mind blowing!!! Phil's vocals were outstanding on Eyes!!!
"St. Louis will go down in Grateful Dead lore."
qoute from Phil Lesh during donor wrap 11/11/10 STL.
That's what I like to hear.
looking for this show somewhere to stream or down load,
sugarmegs had the other two from this tour the day after the show.
wonder why st. louis is nowhere to be found.
Was at the entire West Coast run and dont remember any bad stuff. But that could be me filtering out my memories
At Portland it was very easy to meander up close as the place was big and people were spread out. Hot it was, very hot. Vegas was absurdly hot.
Was a great trip all in all, after shoreline we ran up to Boise and caught short run of phish and met back up with the boys at Deer Creek, then St. Louis, and a memory I unfortunately get rid of. The gate crashers and the cancleled second night at Deer Creek. It wasnt until the midwest run the bad vibes became apparent to me. I remember being at the spot that the group decided to charge the fence when they were still just organizing. Believe it or not there was the side walk and then a short grassy hill, maybe 30 feet, and the fence. They actually had a guy walking back and forth with a German Shepard like a prison camp!!. Well anyway, people were talking about how you could time it.
I wanted no part in those antic, after seeing the mess in Memphis and that venue stampede. But i luckily remembered that the mail order for St. Louis and Deer Creek were almost identical. 1st day red dancing bear vs skeleton, or something like that and second day was blue. Well any way I didnt have a ticket for Deer Creek, like alot of people obviously. But i did have the look alike mail order ticket for St. Louis. So I tried to get in and it worked. But now im short a ticket for St. Louis. So at St. Louis before the show i went to this make shift camper thing that was some office for the group or somebody explainened the mix up. Basically said that why would i have a ripped ticket the gates havent even openned yet. Well they gave me a super generic venue pass with hand written info. I got into the the next night with it. But since the person gave me back the stub section on accident I was able to take to a kinkos or whatever they had back then and make photo copies and got another 5 people in for the last show ever in Chicago. Memories that one thing that no one can take away from you!!!
I do miss those days.
>>>>>make photo copies and got another 5
So you ripped off the band? nice
Well both places were sold out so not sure how they would of made more money via ticket sales, but for arguments sake, yes you are correct sir or madam, But i did it in a non violent and clever manner, that has to count for something, right?
>>>yes you are correct sir or madam, But i did it in a non violent and clever manner,
I had a problem at shows with people who stormed barriers and inconsiderate dopes who thought it was just a free for all and had no respect for those who actually paid to get in.
once I had to spend a at least a half hour during the first set with Hartford's security in 90 trying to prove the tix I bought from the mail-in was real because a group of people had bogus tix for our row.
But its cool right? you got in!
I had paid via GDtickets for every show I ever got into except for the ones where people miracled me in. This was a one off time that I really wanted to get in and saw a solution that I thought harmed no one. If me getting in and me getting 5 others in to see the boys for the last time ever, caused someone else injury or issues, for that I apologize. But at the moment I thought it was genius, and today I would probably do it again. I am a monster, i know.
AMEN BROTHER.
That shit gave all heads a bad name.
rip off the venues that sell $9 bud lights, but dont fuck with the band or its rep. This kind of shit is exactly why jerry didnt even want to tour anymore by the end, and exactly why the end SUCKED. i dare you to listen to deer creek 95 or soldier '95 and objectively compare it to the music furthur is playing right now, so lets not ruin them too!
I adore Garcia, but that band broke him in half...ever wonder why his best performances in the last year of GD shows were mournful ballads about isolation and death? He was sick of that shit, and it hurt him
-Doc
BTW...this st louis show has a sweet sweet set1 - listening to the boards now. that UJB>Cassidy~~~flows~~~~

this show was a lot of fun..not nearly the same level of playing as ames a couple days earlier but in my opinion a great show
Ames was off the hook. Best sound yet on the tour and Phil was on fire. Killer jams. I bought the CDs at the next show and the recordings confirm what I experienced at the show.
To me it was a fantastic show. Clearly the band is enjoying themselves and it telegraphs to the crowd. Was fortunate enough to see the 12/30/09 & 12/31/09 shows in SanFran as well as the two Coney Island shows in June and St. Louis was right up there. The a cappella 'Attics' encore was just awesome.
nothing on the archive yet. I assume there were tapers. Still looking forward to hearing this show.
thanks for the reviews.
New Potato Caboose
Phil looking my way...start of Stella Blue
Attics Of My Life (acappella)

hc sunshine>so many roads was very nice. any road>wheel>eyes>stephen>jam>eleven>truckin was even better. attics encore was some serious icing on the cake. hard to beat this one... right in the heartland!
