Saw the show in Torrington last night and what a treat it was. Very laid back and very intimate and pure. Emmy opened the show with Red Dirt Girl she did Broken Man's Lament from her new one which was awesome and a duet with Buddy called My Antonia and the entire night they all took turns each singing songs and giving us all a history lesson in classic country and gospel with a couple curve balls thrown in. Patty Griffin did an amazing job, great guitar player too. She did an amazing version of Samson & Delilah/ I tear this old building down. Shawn Colvin held her own too covering an old Tom Waits song Hold On, the tune was sweet and had great harmonies.Buddy was spectatular first time I ever saw him live and the guy is a master. He gets the sickest tones out of his electric guitars and the mood he helped create was timeless. They closed the show with Mary, a Patty tune which was simply wow and again had super harmonies from these sweet ladies. They start up the tour again next week so if you get a chance I would highly recommend it. I might go to Kingston show myself.
I went and saw this at the Beacon tonight (Friday the 20th)
Buddy was sick so it was just the three women.
It was incredible.
shawn colvin is absolutely one of my favorite performers. she has the voice of an angel. i'll be seeing her in about 5 weeks at the opera house in denver.
