Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad opened. They were fun, they had a real deep groove for an opening act, seemed more like a late night set, the crowd was sparce but they were well received. I don't see much reggae or so I appreciated their sound. Nice late night ambient groove without having to stay up all night
The New Mastersounds were awesome! They played one loooong set and did two long encores--probably a 2 hour set and 30 minutes of encore. The band was tight, fast and funky! The Meters on Redbull Maybe a little Booker T in their jams, Maybe a little Spencer Davis Group with their britishness...
No clue about a setlist...I didn't even try. The only tune I was able to name was Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)--loved it!
Definitely catch this tour if you can, I love these guys, and they're firing on all cylinders right now!
Thanks for the review. I'm going into the city on Wed. to check them out given your enjoyment and Canyon's suggestion.
Awesome! Enjoy it! It will be well worth your money (which it won't be a lot of!)
You got that right, $12 at the most at Nectar's for at least 2-3 bands.
Caught them last night in Sebastopol and was so glad I did. They went non-stop for 2+ hours, before taking a 60-second break and coming back out for an extended encore. Incredible energy coming from these guys, who are clearly having a GREAT time themselves. Definitely a don't-miss!
I thought about hitting sebastopol but it's just too far on a school night...

a documentary is supposed to be coming out about the band within the next few months, perhaps by Jazz Fest?
