just because i want to...
Any before/after show gatherings for this one? Can't wait!!
So where are we all hooking up before the show in the lot.
Someone pick a time andd a place who is familiar with The Forum.
See you there!
the closer to this show it gets, the way i look at nightly setlists change. now i am routing against songs instead of embracing. life is funny that way.
Flying in From PDX Friday!
Have 4 tix in Loge 9 Row V that I'll trade straight across for 2 tix in Loge 11 row E or lower..... any takers?
Chris Green, mee too!
Praying to God they do NOT do a Sailor>Saint in Denver!!
misingfinger, dont you know the moment you say the song you dont want played at a certain show, pow, the karma gods conspire and then the song gets played. im happy most of what i didnt want played was not but just in case the gods are listening im keeping my favorite titles to myself. travel safe my bro's and sis's and see all saturday night.
After 18 shows:
4 tunes played 4 times (Samson, UJB, Touch, Cumberland).
30 tunes played 3 times.
62 tunes played twice
52 tunes played once.
I need a miracle...for L.A
i bet there will be tix there, my buddie is counting on it....
there have been tix available all over the place at all three shows i went to -
if you dont care about the actual seat location, you can probably score tickets for half face value without much problem
also, at all three shows i was at, there were tix at the box office available
In town tonight.... looking for some "acoutraments" to make my stay more "fluid" and "bright"... any zoners with mojo in that regard?

cryptical has definitely been played twice as well...
yeah i could afford some tix at a kynd price also have tyedye for trade
probably a Minglewood tonite, Bobby loves singing that line about phillies lookin good when he is in SoCal.
I hope and aspire to listen to show on net and pipe it into my garden outdoor speakers so I can boogie here in the burbs on NYC - Hope everyone has a good time !!!!
LA=freaks in the streets
(This is NOT a bad thing)
what's the opener tonight. This is the only show i can attend unfortunately.

West LA Fadeaway
is the show being streamed
Opens with Let the Good Times Roll
Todd said: Probably a Minglewood tonite, Bobby loves singing that line about phillies lookin good when he is in SoCal.
I said: (hometown pride here) The Phillies sure look good here in PHIL-adelphia; the "fillies" are what Bob is singing about, and yes the SoCal babes are mighty fine lookers. Ask The Beachboys.
Shakedown always seemed to get played in LA
Pretty good chance that somebody will sit in, I'd think. Lots of musicians in LA.
Axel Rose vocals on Stella Blue?
"phillies", pardon my grammer, lol. As a lifelong Mets fan thats a major faux pas on my part. Of course I live in MT now so its more of a fair weather thing, that and the Mets are still the Mets. Sorry to see the Spectrum go Adam, so many great shows there starting in 82' for me. Many epic shows were played there and on the ice as well. The morning dew in 86' is a DEAD memory I'll never forget.
Anything Yet?
>Axel Rose vocals on Stella Blue?
heh. Ever heard that guy from Jane's Addiction murder Ripple? That was an LA band.
any live streaming?
quote:Ever heard that guy from Jane's Addiction murder Ripple? That was an LA band.
quasar i heard there's no more live streaming until Gorge, for whatever reason - though i don't know for sure if that's true
just got wind its an INGLEwood opener
the next show taperrob planned to stream was the Gorge show.Sirius satellite is also streaming that show LIVE
thanks bus
There was definitely a horrible Jane's Addiction version. It was on a compilation of Dead covers...Los Lobos's Bertha, etc.
LA should be fun
is that "INGLEwood" post a joke, or did they actually just open with Minglewood?
Hey Todd V.! That show in Philly is one of my Grateatest Grateful Dead memories of all time. That Dew in my opinion will go down as one of the best. That was the last Lost Sailor played by the fellas. The shortest second set I ever saw and one of my all time favorites. I have a audience shot dvd of the whole show if you don't have I would love to share. Post your email and when I get back from Shoreline i'll drop it in the mail for you! LOVE THAT SHOW!! 3-24-86
Ah yes, right you are.

Hey Bus drop an email and you got it as well! Are you "The Bus"?
some people call me the bus, yes john chandler, tho i'm sure there must be other heads out there with that nickname
#36! The Bus!?

Saturday night epic... haha I love it... epecially since I'll be there next saturday at the ol gorge. Not having any high expectations but.. last show of tour, Saturday night, sirius Radio broadcast.. the gorge in the middle of nowhere... redicorus I tell ya : )
Why a 3 day lay off at mountain view?
Warren has 2 Allman Brothers shows at a newly opened Fox theater somewhere in East Bay
They were scheduled before the Dead tour
Tomorrow was supposed to be the last show of the tour and the 14th and 16th were added.

i might have had to leave if that was the first set!!!! There is no way my head would have made it through a second one!!! WHAT A GREAT SET!!
channeling Shrine Auditorium!
Absolutley Sublime
quite possibly the hottest first set of this tour if it was played well (and i'm gonna guess that it was!)
gonna bring it 2nd set BOMB
yummie, looks good
epic Saturday night off to a great start
quite possibly the hottest first set of this tour if it was played well (and i'm gonna guess that it was!)
(weird. i don't know why this post of mine just appeared a second time....must be some karma thing with the viola reprises lol)
agreed... heavy, heady set
I bet tomorrow will be mellow.
something just occurred to me
Shoreline and the Gorge are the only two outdoor venues of this tour.
Hope they get good weather
looks like gorge will be sunny... about 70 for the high... 44 low... brrrr
if they don't do Attics tonight, i bet there will be one at Shoreline....they still haven't done it this tour
shoreline is lame....turn it up! Gorge is gonna be epic...campground opens friday at noon, closes sunday at noon...thats a 48 hour party friends. Phil, Bob, Warren, Derek, Gregg, Oteil, and some Doobies as well. Ok, lots of doobies... and no decibel limitations!!!!
I surprised Attics hasn't been played yet. I thought 2nd night of Philly for sure.
Shoreline isn't lame.....is it?

I saw the Other ones do a wharf rat in 98. does that count?
Wozzers!!...still the best band in the land. Looks like another face melter!
Only 15 songs over two sets...ripoff!
lol
aha agentoffortune....yeah of course that counts my mistake i suppose.... the online search i did was only for "The Dead" so i guess it's just a matter of technical difference since "The Other Ones" was a different band....but yeah, hey, whatever the bottom line point is that there surely haven't been too many Wharf Rats since Jer died

Man I'm worn out just from following the set list here!
Looks Sick!!
thanks again for the setlists updates jammin john
HUGE!
totally huge....cannot wait to hear this show - after a setlist like that i sure hope the playing was top-notch! if it was, this was probably THE show of tour so far (admittedly though it's gonna take great performances of the tunes to top the quality of 2nd night Philly) - but i'm hoping they did just that!
ya philly 2 is pretty intense... But if they were on tonight...
indeed michael...if they were on tonight, hold on to your hats!! and it's gonna be interesting to see how they might top this setlist at Shoreline!
take care everyone
Ya with two Bay area gigs, wondering what they will have left for the Gorge!
hey dont forget msg
I can only say -- they played this show in LA??
Have they lost their sense of time and thought it was Sunday at Shoreline??! WTF??? LA-LA land?!!
>>> and it's gonna be interesting to see how they might top this setlist at Shoreline!
Yeah, I'm certainly wondering!
Now if they can pull out a Cryptical->Other One->New Potato->Born Cross Eyed->Stephen->Eleven-> with a Cream Puff War thrown in for good measure, it might come close.
Looks amazing~
T minus and counting...Sunday Funday has finally arrived.
fucking awesome night.
Just got back!! Wild show good times. Not even close to the song selection I thought we would hear!
Alex
>>Now if they can pull out a Cryptical->Other One->New Potato->Born Cross Eyed->Stephen->Eleven-> with a Cream Puff War thrown in for good measure, it might come close.<<
i'm w/ u there bro'
but when they do CPW - we need the Go-Go dancers from Market St. back again.
:-) :-) ;-)
Had some friends who were there and said it DID in fact live up to the hype. What a monster of a set and it just might be the best looking one so far. MSG AND Philly night 2 were indeed great (I only caught MSG) But wow, the long awaited WHARF RAT!
Shoreline should be a special one though...I was surprised no WEST LA!
Estimated up at Shoreline for sure...

First and only show of tour..it did not suck at all.. nowhere..not..
I might add
Warren was large..
Sound was great..everyone good in mix even Jeff
An oddly arranged Cosmic Charley with Phil singing and almost bubble gum - pop music harmnony
A nice way to east out of a HEAVY SET 1
Place was 99+% full all the way to rafters
Old school for Westcoast Standards almost abandoned Arena no Luxury Boxes no Luxury anything..
Lot was super cool..cops there..
Law enforcement 2009..Rule of Thumb..Don't bust deadheads they stink up the jail

sorry dude, but there was a full stop after the last viola and after BP.just because they pick up the next tune within seconds of ending the last tune doesn't officially count as a transition.the stops were really rerally short, but officially there!!! but anyway who cares the set smoked!!! even if i was only listening over the phone!
Sorry bout that..Yes there was a nano second pause..
like i said.who cares.....the show was a smoker!!! i can't wait to listen to the sbd
Actually gang. Wharf Rat was previously played by The Other Ones/The Dead at the following shows:
6/27/1998 Bristow, VA
7/1/1998 Mansfield, MA
7/8/1998 Scranton, PA
7/13/1998 Clarkston, MI
7/19/1998 Englewood, CO
7/25/1998 Mountain View, CA
8/27/2000 George, WA
9/1/2000 East Troy, WI
9/10/2000 East Rutherford, NJ
9/15/2000 Boston, MA
9/20/2000 Hampton, VA
12/31/2000 Oakland, CA
6/29/2004 West Valley City, UT
8/3/2004 Hartford, CT
I was fortunate to catch the 8/27/00 show at the Gorge!
I should add. I can't wait to hear this show! I saw Nassau and MSG, and have listened to most of the soundboards. They are getting better and better with each stop!
Looked like a very fun night
Unreal show...still coming to grips with what went went down there....
Is this band actually Better than they once were.....?
I can't believe I'm even considering saying so, but.....
better than with Jerry?
tsk tsk tsk missingfinger Only someone who didn't GET Jerry would say such a thing
on the other I am really glad you had a GREAT TIME......
The shows overall and the overall performances are much better than a whole lot of 90's GD shows IMO.
Wow I enjoyed the Chicago shows and have never been a jealous person until now. Wow what a set list, I can't wait to hear it.
Bob from Ct I can agree
I was afraid they would do this- my gorge dream sets a week early... hopefully they don't break out Corinna and Samba for the last show of the tour... but that's what you get with these guys- you mobilize all your resources to get to a show and it might suck or be the best of the tour... tits up to all y'alls for getting a great looking show!
nah.. the gorge will be steller... see you there man...
show was amazing. all this talk about better with jerry, better without jerry is pure silly. it is not the same but let me give you a little advice. look forward out the windshield and not out the rear view mirror because that is what this band is doing and all will be well. this band is engaged and trying to make amazing music. the gloves are off and all the old rules are out the window. just remember "i've got a friend somewhere" and oh yeah "come on home your mama's calling you" happy mothers day and i hope tonight in shoreline rocks. i love this band!!!!
>>>nah.. the gorge will be steller... see you there man...
I'm thinking since this was a dark star set maybe next week we'll get a cryptical>other one set
ok....ill just add my two cents. I was 5th row dead center on the floor for the second set and it was AMAZING!!!
My expectations of 'setlist' were set very low so what they played ripped through my soul. It was an incredible experience that I have not felt from any dead related band in a LONG LONG time. They nailed that second set!
The Wharf Rat>>JAM>>DS verseII was just monster. and the satisfaction to close was ROCKING!
could not say much else besides that was FUCKING AMAZING! of the shows ive heard this tour it was by far the best; and I just happened to be there. No need to go to shoreline or the gorge; cause that show aint getting topped and im willing to stop while ahead...
THANKS BOYS!!!
here is my longer review.....
ok....ill just add my two cents. Had to add my review for this GRATE show!
I was first row risers for the first set and 5th row dead center on the floor!!!! for the second set and the show was AMAZING!!!
I thought the first set was good/solid. But not mind melting....really enjoyed the bertha>>viola>>caution>>viola; very jammy. the balck peter was good but thought a little slow after the monster that was the viola sandwich. I really enjoyed it though. the cosmic was good; cant recall it blowing me away but I enjoyed it.
I thought after that first set we were destined for a 'clonker' set list in the second. Thought they would save the HEAT for shoreline and the gorge....boy was I wrong!
Right before they came out I squeezed down the aisle on the floor and found two empty seats 5th row right in front of phil...BINGO! I set up shop and was set for the set. My expectations of 'setlist' were set very low so what they played ripped through my soul.
It was an incredible experience that I have not felt from any dead related band in a LONG LONG time (since the Q or 12-31-02). They nailed that second set and really layed it on heavy!
The shakedown was great. Bobby on the pink guitar and phil thundering. New Speedway was nailed. The vocals were on point and the band was firing on all cylinders. I dont think there was one 'flub' the whole song; just power and direction.
Scarler>>FIRE had the whole place just rocking. Really it was amazing to look back at the whole building and see the energy directed at the band. They had to feel it! Great version IMHO. Played out long and hard...the coda jam led right into fire...sweet!
Drums...was great but too short. Space was great but too long. Thought the space was one of the better ones ive heard. Very heavy from the 5th row.
The DS>>Wharf Rat>>JAM>>DS verseII was just monster. For me it was the clear Highlight of the night; which is saying a lot. The JAM out of wharf rat was POWERFUL! They nailed it. Really some of the best music ive heard from the core 4 came out of wharf rat into DS Verse II...just great!
At first when I heard the satisfaction chords I was a little bummed but man was I wrong. They killed it! Bobby was absolutely amazing during the tune. The best was to describe the satisfaction to close was ROCKING! just ROCKING!
OMST was fun and a great way to close the night. A few 'flubs' musically (mostly towards the end of the song) that were the first 'major' mistakes i heard all night. That is very impressive for 'the dead'....just solid the whole night!
could not say much else besides that show (2nd set in particular) was FUCKING AMAZING! of the shows ive heard this tour it was by far the best; and I just happened to be there. No need to go to shoreline or the gorge; cause that show aint getting topped and im willing to stop while ahead...
THANKS BOYS!!!
ps> what the fuck is up with the lack of 'drugs' on lot. After being on shakedown for two hours prior to the show chilling I never heard one person walk by with shrooms, acid, weed, molly, x, anything.....absolutely NO DRUGS. I did not hear ONE DRUG being sold, which is fucking amazing at this size show for THE DEAD! A few in my crew were looking for mushrooms or acid and could not find anything. Way too much alcohol and nitrous. The nitrous was out of hand. I think the crowd needed some serious liquid to send that show over the top. Instead a lot of drunk people. great energy but where the hell have the psychedelics gone if they aren't on dead tour....just a crazy observation
I figured it out.
It is better than it used to be.
Only, it isn't
But...it is...
We Want Phil said: Only 15 songs over two sets...ripoff!
I said: It seems there is "one in every crowd" this tour. Some people just don't get it. My advice to you, phriend, is to give up your love (or even "like") of this band and stick to Top 40 radio, at least you won't feel ripped-off. These guys are giving it their all every night, every show, and this tour has been killer! It has more than satsifed those of us who understand that "you can never go home again". This IS NOT a nostalgia tour. It is about the "here and now". It is live and happnin'. I saw six shows and regret not travelling West for more!!
hey now... all i can say is last nights show was amazing , tiring & scary. There was so many high points in a show i only saw half of, that the energy lasted me all day (Sunday). There are many reasons that we are not blessed in L.A with the type of atmosphere that many of you may desire from a dead concert. Yet SoCal has the unique adaptation of enjoying the music with no more stimulus than a hug and a song to get us high. For me the show holds a special place in my soul as a representation of our community as a whole to come together and be the righteous brother&sister bear that we can be. The NSWB felt like a nod from Jerry above, and even Satisfaction rocked my tyedye socks off. This show was so kind all I can say is Thank You my family for making it everything that I love about being with you and the music. This is the only show I got to see this tour and I am still buzzin ... even the predictable Saturday Night had a great polish and shine.
P.S has mickey always been talking at the end of the shows on this tour?
Can't get that Cosmic Charley out of my head...
Mamma keep sayin that the wind might blow
Go on home your Mamma callin you
Mother's Day
show of the tour.
absolutely NO DRUGS. I did not hear ONE DRUG being sold, which is fucking amazing at this size show for THE DEAD! A few in my crew were looking for mushrooms or acid and could not find anything.>>>>
funny, Wilkes Barre and Philly there was EVERYTHING you could want, it was weird...i didnt see one security, on the outskirts yes, but no cops roaming shake at all...
No L in Philly that I saw or heard of in two nights. Everything else except the real deal.
There was plenty of L and shrooms in LA...you just gotta poke around.
