According to Furthur Setlist they did play Mountain Song, Jack Straw. Torrents will be up shortly.
It was Mountain SOng.
I think all the covers and new songs and new "old" songs are great. Hoping for Here Comes Sunshine, Harrison's Any Road and a filthy Other One this weekend.

The show definitely had some really nice spots and jamming. My only complaints would be that some songs went too slow tempo and I think they could have boosted the volume a little. The mix was a little strange at points. I think they'll have the bugs out by tonights cert.
Thanks for the recording and the quick post! Enjoying it!
Howdy Bennett! Nice seeing you last night.

Where is the new thread for tonight?
thx for the links bennett
those of you there: it would be fun to hear your viewpoint of how the shows were, perhaps even where you were in the building. i will say that that number of people for that building is a nice upgrade from the fillmore, big time, or the pep center's vacuous sound for that matter. thanks again for links. cheers
The official setlist mentions a "Brother Esau" jam!! I missed it at the time...
The Venue rocks, if fact they like the energy coming from our suite, go figure, so much so that last night (Sat. nigth) Well Sat. AM actull, like immediatley after Friday night's set sent an amil to our host and said, we love you guys and the energy your suite brings, go figure! Anyway they comped a whole buffet + Drinks etc for the suite last night! Last night was just full on sick!
Bobby's voice sounds the best it has in years!
Sounds was even better last night with Phil really turned up in the mix!
Other One ripped a smokin' crater in my mind!
Listening to this show on the archive Great 2nd Set. I havent heard them all....but IMHO..this is the best Dark Star that Furthur has played..that is until the next one...God Bless
Review and Photos from the Friday Night Show Posted Here: http://www.listenupdenver.com/?p=497
Enjoy!
Kick ass "Weather Report Suite". Splendid "Dark Star". Melted the place with the "China Doll". Grade A
This show was great, an awesome way to start the weird weekend in the mountains. yes there were some minor issues (JK's new guitar was popping a couple timese, an alembic i beelive), bobby was getting adjusted, as well as everyone else. BUT, they came out strong with a nice jam into jack straw. it was obvious what we were about to receive but it was well played and phil even throws a curveball in there for a second making you think they are going to abort the idea of straw. a beautiful version that jams HEAVY into the beginnings of an uncle. yes bobby you are as honest as a denver man can be HAHA!, the remainder of the first set was KILLER. loser big river it must have been the roses deal...then...the esau jam! i honestly thought it was the doses playing me when i heard it and i said something and everyone scoffed at the idea of it..it was clear as day,a lot of looking around on stage and bobby sort of shook his head and they downplayed into a GORGEOUS version of black throated wind..brown eyed women was played at a faster tempo than usual it was a little awkward but a fun way to end the set...the second set was just a continuation of the great energy that was bouncing around the arena during the first set. the well speculated amongst my group for the second set opener was a complete weather report suite, with no "time" to break it up. minor guitar flub by weir, but not enough to take away from the overall quality of the performance. 22 minutes of sheer beauty. next is a pairing i think will become a staple..mountain song>ikyr..they've done this about 4-5 times now and it WORKS...this dark star was noteworthy, it went a lot of places the sometimes overplayed today dark star does not go..the china doll that is born from this psychadelic journey brings tears to the eyes--dynamically played how it should be, with some raw emotions up there on the stage. to rage the end of the set we were given playin help slip franklins..not the bestversions of any but all well played, especially the franklins, had a different vibe to it and i was digging it..the encore had good intentions but was actually a trainwreck musically..JK and bob kept playing different parts of the song and it was clashing pretty bad, but who gives a fuck, the show that had just gone down had covered it and we knew the next two nights would as well
i had a blast at this show and loved hearing such killer versions of some of these tunes
